Try this:
I Can't Live (If Living is Without You) by Harry Nillson
If that gets stuck in there, you'll be wishing for something
as innocuous as "bright eyes"

You're gonna have to carve it out, I'm afraid.
Get a good sharp knife.
That's knott a knife. A KNIFE. Much better.
Ok, carve away. It'll come out.
You'll be fine, chicks dig scars.

The dreaded ear worm strikes again.
Play Barry Manilow's "Copacabana" and your problem will be instantly solved. Plus, you'll be missing and desperately wanting "turn around bright eyes" back in mere seconds.

Just got home from Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Got to sit down, take a rest on the porch.
Imagination sets in, pretty soon I'm singin'
Doo, doo, doo, lookin' out my back door.
There's a giant doing cartwheels, a statue wearin' high heels.
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.
A dinosaur Victrola, listening to Buck Owens.
Chorus
Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band.
Won't you take a ride on the flyin' spoon?
Doo, doo doo.
Wondrous apparition, provided by magician.
Chorus
Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band.
Won't you take a ride on the flyin' spoon?
Doo, doo doo.
Bother me tomorrow, today I'll buy no sorrows.
Chorus
Forward troubles Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.
Bother me tomorrow, today I'll buy no sorrows.
Chorus
Lookin' Out My Back Door, by Creedence Clearwater Revival. John Fogerty wrote it as a happy song for his three year old son.
There's a good video of it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqZhM75aGMg&feature=related
Swamp rock - a variety sometimes called chooglin'.
They seem very happy, for an outstanding band that split a few years later.

All of these are classic.
We have a five year old and he's naturally experimenting with language and its boundaries.
One day, I realized I was working around my house and couldn't get the phrase "poo-poo clubbers" out of my head. I told this to my wife and she said she already had the same thing going on.
No one knows what it actually means, including my son.
I'm thinking of using it for some chossy, negative star route name someday. It will be sure to keep the crowds away!

Total Eclipse of the Heart" is a power ballad written and produced by Jim Steinman, and was inspired by the classic tale, Wuthering Heights.

*say, the wikipedia? is that the name, has a list of all the folks that have "redone" the song, too, ... i think it was t*r that wanted to know that??? (do a search on the song title, but not with/or for the lyrics, the wiki~ thing, should show up)

Thanks, neebee! CCR was a great band, even though they were only together for four years. They did a lot of good music, and then blew apart. Problems with management, music, creativity, egos (of course), money, and on and on. I believe that John Fogerty never subsequently reconciled with the others, including his brother Tom. Sad - but perhaps a short and glorious career was better than a long and declining one. Look at the caricature that the Rolling Stones and so many other bands have become, not knowing when to quit.
John Fogerty refused to play CCR songs for many years, so as to not benefit those he felt had wronged him. But in the late 1980s, once his career revived, he was at a concert, and George Harrison and Bob Dylan told him it was time he started to. Their reason was that otherwise, the world would believe that Tina Turner had written "Proud Mary".
The video I posted is quite well done, though lip-synched. In some parts, John has his legs crossed, and in others not. So based on at least two takes.

Just shows how our minds have us under a spell. Meditation is hard to get started with but at least its a tool to act as bouncer for rogue elements trying to obsess me. (although now the hokey-pokey is knocking)
Our minds are so vulnerable. Just try not to think of an elephant!
That's what mantras (repetitive prayers) are for, to stick something in your head that won't drive you mad.

hey there, say, i was so interested in hearing about creedence clearwater, that i never jumped in here for much else...
only to mention the wuther heights...
but, say, i did look at the links that leb put up... that first one was interesting, i never KNEW someone would study up on this kind of thing...
i never had a song stuck in my head... unless maybe i was praying and wanted to sing a song, and the kept it up, as i really enjoyed the peace it gave...
and--dont know if this counts, but after i've heard a song that i really really enjoy and like, in a most excellent or creative way, i will call it up, or, it will "come a calling" and since i like it, i will let it stay....
the only recent ones that i can think of are:
nashville cats...
its simple message is so true, and connects to the country music that i enjoy hearing...
and the other one was:
i will rock and roll with you, if i have to...
i loved thinking of johnny cash, stepping into a bit of rock-and-roll, with his country touch... neat little message of an old dogs learning new tricks...
and lastly"
a good hearted woman,
as, i really do believe when a woman loves a man that has needs for good time (and those that she already knows about), she really BEST be understanding him, if she really loves him, or, it is all a farce...
any other song i like thinking on, i have to call to my own attention... unless it has played on the radio for three times or so, during the day, (as they do repeats, etc, depending on the time of day, etc, that you've hit the stations...)
*one precaution though----i never let my kids hear commercial on tv, or the grandkids, now, so i dont know if these would do that 'awful magic' being that i refuse to listen to them in the first place.... (i dont like the principle behind using repeative songs to push kids into becoming 'attached' to products, or food, etc)...
very interesting all this has been...
say, dirtbag:
how is the song going... are you well over it, yet...?
:)

I thank the god I don't believe in, that I can't bring "Bright Eyes" in to my cranium on 'play'.
I have had songs stuck there, though.
Karl is in a good place, why make waves? How many people are bold enough to commit to him?
Taco, On Topic, reRun; The Cilley one and I in the Foyer of the old Mtn Rm bar ( where Darryl rode naked on Bachar's bike, in a similar legend, I think ) ; Richard sez to me,
"ever get a song stuck in yer head?"
"Yup," I replied. "I'm hearing 'Manic Depression,' as we speak."
"Good for you, as#@&%e! I'm stuck on the theme song from Flipper™."
There was a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, though; it was just after that, that Lepton started singing the "Yabo" song. It was to the tune of Flipper;
"They call him , Yabo, Yabo..."

hey there... say, i was feeling sad for you all, caught up in all them word-songs.... so.... i thought i'd give you all a well-needed break, and chip in some different songs for you to get stuck on---if possible, you could at least WHISTLE to them, and take the pressure off... or out... (as in a steam-tea-pot):
HERE'S SOME no-worders, and we'll see how this goes:
1--the famous theme from the black swan dance-scene in the castle, in the ballet, swan lake...
2--the anvil chorus, from the opera (is you've seen the marx brothers in "a night at the opera" you will be familiar with this)
3--the can-can dance scene, from said-movie etc...
4--fur eleise... (spelling?, beethoven's piano, but well known in the music box themes)
5--jame's bond theme...
6--ta ra ra BOOM de ay... (is that the title?)
7--Edelwiese... or is it Edelweise? (is in many MUSCIC boxes)
8--Braham's hungarian dances (has one caught you?)...
(actuallyl used in some old bugs bunny cartoons)
9--beethoven's fifth...
9--bonanza...
10--wipe out!
FOR THIS WITH KIDS--- so they can hum along:
1--hi ho, hi ho, its off to work we go...
3--whistle while you work...
3 1/2--or (more work oriented):
this is the way we go to work, go to work, (etc)
4--old macdonald had a farm, ee, i, ee, i , oh...
5--i've been working on the railroad...
6--b - i - n - g - o ...
okay, all... have fun...
:)
*one of the links leb shared, suggested the pink pather theme, but i won't list a copycat... though, it IS well known...

Say , Hey there neebeee,
in your last few posts you mention many classical and folk tunes. these have been around for centuries and it is understandable that they would have amazing staying power in time and your mind.
bright eyes, all by myself, the muppet song, etc. etc. have only been around a few decades.
What is it about these pop tunes that do this to us ?
please dont make me start quoting debbie boon lyrics to make my point.
i hope your doing well and wonder if you have any 70,s songs stuck in your head.
Best gregg

It's still there.
On the bright side, bright eyes, I've infected 5 others on this thread and my sweetie. It was nearly gone until Saturday morning, when we went out to breakfast and heard....
"Turn around..."

Oooooo....that sounds like a great idea Jaybro.
I almost got "It's a Small World" stuck in my head this morning after reading about renovations Disneyland has been doing to that ride.

Try not to think of an ark on the backside of the moon. Or the bible code. Or the clash of civilizations. I dare you.
