Hello,

If you are around the Valley on Friday the 17th there will be an art auction at the Gallery with all proceeds benefiting the Yosemite Climbing Association. The art work will be up on the wall the 16th and 17th with silent bidding till 4:00 pm on the 17th. At 5:00 pm on the 17th live bidding on the pieces will start until it is all sold. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and the fourth annual art auction. There will be a good variety of work from many artists including Glen Denny, Tom Frost, Galen Rowell, Greg Epperson, Chris Falkenstein, Jody Langford, Denise Hart, and many others. I am contemplating whether to include a mint condition set of a complete set of three Descent Magazines, the Warren Harding publication, as long as it receives a good price.
If you can't be there the evening of the 17th you can request an Ansel Adams employee to bid for you.

This event has always been a lot of fun and I hope you can make it. As usual there will be catered food (Lost Arrow Catering) and wine (Redwood Creek).

Ken, you are making me regret more and more living in beautiful Sun Diego when you post items like this. I am so new to the yearly functions of YCA I will have to miss this one.
Does the YCA have a calendar with the Face Lift dates, the YCA art auction and the yearly events it hosts ?

It would help plan the year.

You Do A Terrific Job ! Went through the museum several times with Family and Friends. (You also have a very special family.)

Thanks again to you and Katiebird for the wonderful time we all had at Yellow Pine.

Sincerely, Lynne Leichtfuss

Hope the pass stays open.

Ken are there any items that are raffled or door prizes or is it just all auction style.

Got to know what to budget.

thanks , Gregg

facelift edit: hey any of you out there that enjoyed all the freebies (camping, swag, beer, wine, food) now would be a good time before the holidays to donate to YCA. They have a great paypal hookup on their web site. www.yosemiteclimbing.org

It looks like there will be over 30 pieces for auction including a Galen Rowell, Karl Bralich and Jody Langford photo. Multiple Tom Frost, Chris Falkenstein, Greg Epperson and Glen Denny photos. Many other artists have donated as well. This is our biggest fundraiser every year. I am a bit worried about attendance and hope you can help us out.

Thanks,

Ken

Ken... why not do the auction at the during the Nose reunion time? Or do a second one? There's bound to be a very large attendance, no? Just a thought.

Keep up the good work!

Hi Dave,

The Gallery chooses when they have time between shows. If I have things left over I will consider it. Are you going to be here for the Nose reunion?

If I bought the Descent mags, I would just have to donate them back to you. But the artwork...Hmmmmmm.

Hey Ken, is there anyway to set it up so those of us who can't
attend could bid? (Not on Ebay, but have some sort of thread
we could bid)? Oh that would be so cool! I'd love to bid on
those Descent zines and probably photos too!!!!

Maybe if not this year, but what's the chances for next year?

If anyone would like me to bid for them I will be there.

I can place silent bids or even bid for you at the live auction on friday.

It sure looks like there is some great artwork to be had at really great prices.

The people that work in the Gallery can bid for you. I did not have time to set up the images on the website as it is to soon after the Facelift.

Tami,

That is Denise Hart. She donated three items. For some reason her credit didn't show up.

There is a 12x18 matted and framed to 18x24 of this one. My stuff sucks so bad though that last time they used mine for a door prize. :)

I am hanging the art work tomorrow evening. The only online stuff I could do is through the raffle via PayPal off the YCA website. I am offering one set of Descent Magazines in the raffle and one up for bid. Don't worry I have 20 mint sets left. What do you think they are worth?

Just got home after hanging the art work. It sure looks good and a lot of stuff that I wouldn't mind having in my home. One of the problems with these auctions is that I spend a lot because the deals are so good.

I am here in Valley with the Herberts and other friends.

I will bring it to their attention and do some bidding. We need some art/photos for our walls at home...Better be some good photos.

Cheers!

Jody your work is not a door mat, it is more like a welcome sign. Your last piece 2-3 years ago helped us raise over $3,000 just with the drawing alone. It was more than we would have received by normal auction. Thank you

Here are some photos of the gallery today.

I don't know what happened to the picture of the fabulous tile table that Kissing Cousin Carol (c) made. It has been a hit and will most likely be the most competitive bid.

Glen Denny's 30" x 40" print size Lynne, with archival matting and plexi. Did you ever get your El Cap 50th T-shirts when you were here for the Facelift?

Thanks for asking Ken ! Got the shirts. They were for my sista in law and her hub. You met them the first day I pulled into Yellow Pine.....Lisa and John.

Any bids on those big black and white wall pics yet ?

Showed table pic to friends....anyone know the bids on it right now.

Every contribution is awesome!

Beautiful Friday eve to you all. Lynne

Sorry for the bump.

The art auction was cool. Lots of nice pics for sale and some killer deals. Stuff that sells in galleries for 600 to 1000 dollars went for less then 300 dollars. Some of it a lot less then 300 dollars.

Ken did a great job. The food was great. Karl's photo went for 270. A big framed print of the captain, something like 23 by 30, maybe bigger.
