For those who are sick of Palin threads: too bad.

For those who are supporting Palin, listen up. You are about to try to elect someone who can't even put together a coherent thought about policy.

This isn't about left/right ideology.

This isn't about looking smooth on television.

This is about being able to say something--anything--about the direction of the country or the world she could be runnning in less than 4 months. She can't do it!

She may be a heck of a gal. She may have been a decent mayor. She may be a decent governor. She may be a great mom. Cool stuff, if true. But McCain's selection of her as a VP candidate is a god damned travesty. Any of the usual righty VP candidate names would be a million times better than her.

So, here are three interview clips in which she is actually asked to speak in her own words. Her aggressive liberal media interrogator is none other than Katie Couric.

Part 1:

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0908/Palin_and_Couric.html

Part 2:

Planes fly over Russia: that's why I am qualified.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nokTjEdaUGg

(Can you imagine her face to face with Putin?)

Part 3 (The very latest):

How The bailout will help healthcare.

http://thinkprogress.org/2008/09/25/palin-bailout-healthcare/

She is so out of her league. Scarily so. We are very seriously f*#ked if she is elected and is ever called upon to do more than attend funerals.

In her own words:

COURIC: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land boundary that we have with Canada. It's funny that a comment like that was -- kind of made to -- carry -- I don't know, you know? Reporters --

COURIC: Mocked?

PALIN: Yeah, mocked, I guess that's the word, yeah.

COURIC: Well, explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.

PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our -- our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia --

COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We -- we do -- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the airspace of the United States of America, where -- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to -- to our state.

And she wants to "ramp it up in Afghanistan" too. That'll sure help the economy!

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/09/25/politics/horserace/entry4477239.shtml

Katie Couric: Why is it much more challenging there? Can you explain that?

Sarah Palin: The logistics that we are already suggesting here, not having enough troops in the area right now. The… things like the terrain even in Afghanistan and that border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, where, you know, we believe that-- Bin Laden is-- is hiding out right now and… and is still such a leader of this terrorist movement. There… there are many more challenges there. So, again, I believe that… a surge in Afghanistan also will lead us to victory there as it has proven to have done in Iraq. And as I say, Katie, that we cannot afford to retreat, to withdraw in Iraq. That's not gonna get us any better off in Afghanistan either. And as our leaders are telling us in our military, we do need to ramp it up in Afghanistan, counting on our friends and allies to assist with us there because these terrorists who hate America, they hate what we stand for with the… the freedoms, the democracy, the… the women's rights, the tolerance, they hate what it is that we represent and our allies, too, and our friends, what they represent. If we were… were to allow a stronghold to be captured by these terrorists then the world is in even greater peril than it is today. We cannot afford to lose in Afghanistan.

How many times does a stupid man have to prove it? The dumb ones never stop.

And Americans will keep chosing the poorest choice - a brain-damaged strokee and a soccer mom to run the US.

I try to stay out of the Palin thing because every breath we spend on her is one less breath spent on discussing the real issues.

Buuuuuuut....... this is well is too deep to ignore. It's like the the Republicans have sequestered Palin for a couple of weeks and filled her with a whole bunch of new words, concepts and ideas. Problem is she can't quite figure out how to string them all together. It's like she was a Scrabble box of words and ideas that was shaken up and tossed out to spew randomly during the rare interviews.

She's getting ripped apart in front of our eyes and I wonder how or what she'll do when she returns to Wasilla/Juneau/Anchorage after losing the election.

Is there any precedent for an ex-candidate suing her running mate because he made a poor choice and therefore defamed her character?

Her debate with Biden is going to be painful to watch.

maldaly, those were my thoughts too.

Last week or so up until last night I mostly turned my attention to other things. The Palin thing had been pretty well discussed. But I find this interview so frightening that I think it is every bit as important as other issues, such as the economy, that are currently receiving news time. She is so completely, thoroughly unqualified it would be laughable if the issues she could potentially face as Pres weren't so serious.

This interview goes beyond my worst fears about her.

And what does it say about McCain that he picked her?

Palin is scaring the sh*t out of me. I'm voting for the B-man but not without some misgivings. I fear, however, America will be dim enough to elect McCain and the beauty queen. But here's the rub: How can ANYONE, after seeing this interview, really believe she's ready for probably the toughest job in the world? I know there are many cool-aid drinkers out there, but fer cryin' out loud.

Putting Amerika first.....

PALIN: 'ONLY FLAG IN MY OFFICE' IS ISRAELI

President Peres of Israel yesterday met for the first time with Governor Palin and with Senator McCain, who called the veteran Israeli statesman "my old friend." The warm handshake and exchange of broad smiles occurred during an international gathering known as the Clinton Global Initiative, hosted by President Clinton. "I wanted to meet you for many years," Ms. Palin told Mr. Peres, according to an aide to the president. "The only flag at my office is an Israeli flag," she was quoted as saying, "and I want you to know and I want Israelis to know that I am a friend."

She's gotta go.

She's far less qualified to run this country than even Bush.

UD, that's even more data!

I read the following column this morning by conservative columnist Kathleen Parker in that shining example of liberal media bias, "Townhall." She is spot on.

http://townhall.com/columnists/KathleenParker/2008/09/26/the_palin_problem

Again, this is a conservative columnist who is sounding the alarm bell.

From the column:

Palin's recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I've been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I've also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

-snip-

What to do?

McCain can't repudiate his choice for running mate. He not only risks the wrath of the GOP's unforgiving base, but he invites others to second-guess his executive decision-making ability. Barack Obama faces the same problem with Biden.

Only Palin can save McCain, her party and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first.

Do it for your country.

As I stated before, putting aside ideological differences, my concerns have to do with fundamental competence to run the government. She is, as Parker points out, frighteningly out of her league.

I don't care, at this point, if McCain apponts another hard-core right winger as Veep. I just want someone who is competent to run the damned government!

We'd be f*#ked if she becomes President. No joke, no hyperbole, ...f*#ked!

Lois, I really don't care what you think about Palin anymore. You won't even listen to her interviews.

The reason I'm harping on the interviews is because it is genuine red-flag, alarm-bell stuff. If those interviews are any indication, our country is in serious danger if she is called upon to serve.

Even righties are beginning to chime in. That's the point of the article.

You are sadly, willfully uninformed about this. I have little patience or interest in talking to you. You resort to trite quips about elitists, left-right stuff, etc. instead of taking an interest in learning.
