I wonder how Palin would respond?
GIBSON: What is your position on the Army's FCS program.
PALIN: Well, it's my son, my son, he has chosen to be a part of this task from God; my son has joined the Army, you can see him here in Alaska, he's going to be a part of God's plan for Iraq!
GIBSON: What insight into the Army's FCS, particularly in light of McCain's recent criticism of Obama, does your son's enlistment give you?
PALIN: He's my son and I've actually seen him here in Alaska nearly every day! And, and, so I'm giving you perspective on how important it is to encourage the Army to do what's right, because he's my son and you can actually see him here in Alaska!

Sorry Granite, full head of hair here. It is all the lefties that are bald from pulling their hair out worrying about stuff they have ZERO effect on...
Great post HDDJ! This and the 80 others just like it are really turning the tide here on the Taco. I'm sure you will keep up the good work. Serious question for you: Why don't you pull this continuous political shiit over Mountain Project? You seem to be relatively normal over there.

Supertopo is strictly a shitposting environment. Mountain Project has more of a climbing environment. I posted a few times on the political thread over there but it started to get kind of crazy so I let it alone. I mean come on, while you don't actually get into the specifics you pretty much huck poop with the rest of the monkeys here.

Mrs. McSame is vewy vewy angwy at "The View" for actually asking Mr McSame some, you know, substantive questions, including asking him about his campaign's recent sleaziness.
Vewy, vewy angwy indeed.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/
Good for "The View" but it's kind of sad when one of the more softball information programs is one of the few asking the toughest questions.
Then of course, the Repubs whine about it. So much for supposedly being the party of angry tough white people. Well, I guess the white people part is still true.
Anyway, the interview is worth watching.

Well whaddyaknow, McSame/Pain lied about her trip to Iraq.
She never actually went there!
Here's what McCain/Palin people originally said:
"Following her selection last month as John McCain's running mate, aides said Palin had traveled to Ireland, Germany, Kuwait, and Iraq to meet with members of the Alaska National Guard. During that trip she was said to have visited a "military outpost" inside Iraq. The campaign has since repeated that Palin's foreign travel included an excursion into the Iraq battle zone."
And here's what actually happened:
"But in response to queries about the details of her trip, campaign aides and National Guard officials in Alaska said by telephone yesterday that she did not venture beyond the Kuwait-Iraq border when she visited Khabari Alawazem Crossing, also known as "K-Crossing," on July 25, 2007."
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/09/13/palin_camp_clarifies_extent_of_iraq_trip/
Pretty cut and dried. That's a lie, my friends!
She also inflated her visit to Ireland. Apparently it was just a refueling stop.
Hey, I once switched planes in New Zealand. Can I be the ambassador there in Obama's administration?
Oh I know, it's the just the mean sexist liberal media going after our straight-talking, moose-hunting, hockey mom gal pal. She just can't be the big bad liar you liberal regular-folk-hating elitists claim she is!
***
I guess when one's resume is so thin, especially on foreign policy, lying is about the only way to get a job. I don't really care if she has traveled or not, but at least don't lie about it. Even Rove thinks this lying will bite them in the ass if they continue.
Can't wait to see the righties post the latest Hot Air or Newsmax clip defending this one.

HDDJ is right.... this ain't much of a climbing site. Thanks for the answer.
Dirt.... why would I post climbing stuff to a non-climbing site? That would seem odd, besides being a waste of time, it would piss off all the political experts and ANALysts in residence.

"Then why have the Republicans made it a race between Obama and Palin?"
Well that has gotten a huge boost from the left wing and mainstream media. I don't think we can pin that one on the drooling right-wingers. I mean look how eager people are to talk about Palin on this site.

I was thinking more on the lines that the candidate known as McSame is not an electable entity on his own so they had to trot out the moose slayer.

Somebody is a bit semanticaly challenged and doesn't know the difference between "Future Combat Systems" and "The Future Combat System" program.
Some elements of FCS have already been adopted using off the shelf hardware and implemented in Iraq. Other elements were droped as completely impractical. The contractors want to turn it back into a welfare program.

With all due respect Mr. Fatrad, McCain is the only one qualified to be an angry old coot whose maverick style provokes off the cuff decisions with dire consequences.
Do you really want to "win in Iraq? What is there to win at the cost of a billions of dollars a week? Can't we do the clash of civilizations on a better budget of negotiation and targeted reprisal?
Isn't it time you switched to democtat like McSame almost did in 2001?
