Hey Nature etal,
Your last post sounded like you were thinking it was going to happen. Christa and I have our tickets Saturday to Saturday, we're thinking of heading to Zion Sunday Mon Tues, and heading back to Vegas Wed Thur Fri. Indian climber recommended the BLM group site. Unless anyone else has a better idea of where to camp I am thinking I should reserve a group site. The sites are limited to 20 people, should I try for 2? I am thinking 3 nights for Christa and me Wed Thur and Fri. Chime in if you have a better plan, or know of a better place to camp. Black Velvet poach? Not gonna happen, but it'd be nice.

Fred, you watchin' this one? I could fly to your house, you could drive, we could be the first tandem onsight aarp solo of epinepherine, you (being young and strong) could bring a rope for our descent...

If we don't do sushi we could do Turkey. I haven't had a t-day bird in years. One year stich and I had Mike and Ikes, Cheetos and soda from a lovely restroom on I-70. That was our dinner. . .seriously. :-)
Hang in there nature.

So we're gonna do it. If nature makes it we'll have Sushi, if not we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Beer can turkey in a grill.
Hey Indian Climber, you live there should I fire the gun on the group camp or do you know of other options?

Prod the group camp is great for proximity to climbing and if someone wants to hit the Redrock casino for poker buffet etc
it is not good for live bands and marksmanship,there are really no
alternatives that I know to camp at.I would go for it.Let me know if you need anything

Got a call back last night. The group sites are full. The BLM lady recommended that we get there early in the morning as the regular sites first come first serve. You can have 10 people per site though. Christa and I will be there either the Tuesday or Wednesday prior to Turkeyday. We'll do our best to get 2 sites next to each other.

I live in a good size 4 bdrm house, with two roommates.
We/I have an empty bedroom, a large empty living room and a moderate area of burnt grass I call the back lawn.
With a little forewarning and a vague estimation of the people numbers and mayhem that may accompany...
I am sure I could put up a fair number of non discriminating guests for a 2 - 3 days.
Anyone interested/ in need gimme a hoot.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have been wanting to brine and smoke a turkey for a while now so I am game (or is it foul) to volunteer to cook one.
If Nature is 'in' it's one thing.[I only managed one roll & one sashimi bite @ facelift] Especially, if bro Fred shows and we do the multiple onsight, aarp solo of Epi with Riley as back up.
Otherwise, I'm leaning toward the less logistically hassling, wide fetish, fishanal in Josh.
How's the plans for Vegas?....may be in that area rather than Josh during the T. Holiday. Suggestions for places to stay ? Again, what dates ? Where to meet up with the crew. Need to plan asap due to work and time off. miles of smiles, Lynnie
Lynne there is only one campground at Red Rocks,13 mile campground.
The group camp are booked and the other sites at 13 mile are not reservable
I can go there early and grab a few sites maybe Monday before
Thanksgiving if everyone is up for it,this would also make a good
meeting place,I live nearby so can get together anything we would need to make everyone more comfy
If you would prefer to stay in a motel the Bonnie Springs motel
is only a few miles down the road and still out of the city
otherwise the Suncoast casino may be a good alternative
I would be more than happy to cook up Thanksgiving dinner for the camp.
Great Plan Ninfa.
I thought someone posted up a bivy option in a 4 bedroom house as well but it seems to be missing. My preference would be to camp, but that was a nice option.
No matter what Christa and I will be there.
Cheers.
I talked to Nature last night. The proooblem is that Vegas is ten hours from Santa Fe( I also tried to talk him into meeting me in IC or Cochise for climbing fun). It seems SF is further away ( and thus must suc% big @$$ dog balls) than Flagstaff from these areas. I think it's a great idea to just have a BarBQ/ climber's party. No biggie, we certainly won't starve. I sure wish I could have cut on that squished elk I saw on the highway this a.m. But thought it might be rude to the folks who's car was mushed (luckily they all looked fine).
I don't know if I'm a for sure but am working hard at it. I think we can do a great event with some shared food and mostly fend for ourselves. Definately a potluck for T-day. I have NEVER been accused of not knowing how to whip up some supper treats for a party.
I know where there is free camping and virgin rock (soft, the real desert stuff, not that fake Vegas "desert climbing") and only an hour north of Vegas.
