Jsb, they did the same to me back in '79. I got em back though, I left the state with an illegal camping ticket, never to return. I guess I'm a fugitive from justice. I met some nice people in Wyoming but none of them lived there. It could have been the length of my hair. In Nevada, the State Trooper drove me almost a hundred miles and helped me fix my brokedown car although by that time I had cut my hair.

Beautiful (trip, weather and photos). Thanks for sharing!

I think you squeezed about 3 trips into one - good work. As long as the tickets don't count as points in CA, you probably saved money vs. flying out twice more!

I'm not sure why it's called the Elephant's Perch - maybe because it is big and flat on top (lots of room for elephants there). Vs. the nearby Chipmunk's Perch, which is a lot more pointy.

Those Cirque of the Towers routes are amazing. Did them in the early seventies with Brad Udall. Thanks for the great TR!

Thanks for the TR. How long is that route in the Sawtooths? I don't know about that area, but it looks great. Also, those panoramic shots of the Cirque are fantastic. E ridge of Wolfs head is one of my favorite routes ever.

Thanks, Clint. I see that Guillaume D. is the subject of some of those photos. I remember him from rec.climbing - he used to keep some sort of statistics on the posts, as well as offer up great shots of Antartica.

Hmm, Stanley, ID is about 5 hrs from Bozeman, MT, it seems. I might have to try going there next summer.

Sounds like a fantastic trip.

Nurse Ratchet and I did a very similar trip a few years back, except we rented a canoe to get across Red Fish Lake & climbed the Mountaineer's Route. In the Winds, we added an afternoon climb of the South face of Pingora as a warm-up, and to scope out the descent.

Sounds like you had fantastic weather -- pretty unusual for the Winds!
