For sure. Goatboy and I were chatting at the boogaloo about it a bit. I'm on there playing anyways, and on here...and it seems I'm not alone. More fun playing folks you know than total strangers...though most of us on here are pretty strange...
I'm pretty much a novice too...so easy money over here...

I'm terrible, but my dad was brilliant at cards... lots of bad feelings there actually, mostly over gambling.
Of course, 21 isn't poker...
For gambling in general, it is easy to see that the house maintains an advantage and that means that sooner or later, you're going to give them your money.
For poker, it's individuals against each other, perhaps more interesting. I'd rather do physics.

Jaybro, I think I've led a sheltered life, snipe hunt ? I know they are imaginary birds that you send people out to look for and, of course, they never find.
But Indian Poker is for real....and you can play for cookies...or maybe L's Jello Cake...MMMMM, yum.
Ed, I'd go with the physics too. Much more rewarding and no losing guilt to wake up too. Not that I'd know. I am surrounded out here in the boonies with Indian Casinos...but I work to hard to lose a days wages in a few minutes...
Edit: It takes me hours...kidding of course.

Ok,,,I may be on a roll...Ahi Sushi of course...
How many of you DO know how to play Indian Poker? We can have one person we trust, like Ed, cut and shuffle a deck and deal out the cards to us on our email.
I think we each get 5 cards.
Then we can go to photo bucket and post pics of us with our 5 cards stuck on our forehead. OF COURSE YOU CAN'T LOOK AND CHEAT.
Scratch that, to much temptation. Ed will hold our cards and we will post our foreheads. Then Ed will paste the 5 cards to our foreheads. Best hand wins. Ed gets 20% of winnings for all his work.
Dang, why can't we laugh and love more....not necessarily in that order!!!!!
Now he can quit Livermore and be a rich climbing bum.
What a great senario.

Full tilt sucks too, but not as much.
AFAIK, Poker Stars is the ONLY site to make solid evidence open to the public that their deal is fair.

If the prize pool is >$25, you can set up a freeroll that will have no entry fee. Upside is not everyone has to have a real money account; downside is it relies on money changing hands in the real world.
They won't set up play money tourneys unfortunately.

I agree with what Russ said. I was one of those involved in the hand holding and general knuckle-headed nonsense.
Fire up a game. I have an absolute account. I can look into reopening my FTP account.
Saturday night would be good for me. Friday night too.
I like the idea of the freeroll with the $25 or more prize pool. Just make an agreement that everyone that wants to play has paypal and we're good. Ah hell... that might be too much hand holding.
Fire it up... I'm ALL IN!

There will be no holding hands with anyone.
If you can't behave like an adult you will not be allowed to play with the adults.
It sounds like Full Tilt is the most versatile regarding O.S. and has a fairly intuitive format interacting with other players.
I'm in the process of setting up a real money game on FT with a buy in of 25 bucks to avoid any entry fee. So far nine people have expressed an interest by saying they are IN;

That's enough players to fill one table, what I need is TIME (eastern) & DATE from these folks on when they want to play. I’m cool with anytime after 7pm any day of the week except Sunday.
Once we have the time and date set I will finish setting up the private tourney then email the table name and password to all those that have said the magic words… I’M IN!

Okay people, the Full Tilt elves say it can take up to FOUR business days to schedule a tourney.
(business days are Monday thru Friday just in case some of you bottom feeders have forgotten)
That means that once we get our act together it’s still not happening anytime soon.
There seems to be a consensus for weekdays so here it goes,
a DATE & TIME drawn in the sand,
don’t worry if you can’t make it I’m sure we’ll be doing this again.
DATE: Thursday, September 11th
TIME:
6:00PM – Pacific
7:00PM – Mountain
8:00PM – Central
9:00PM – Eastern Michigan Redneck Time
How about it…will this date and time work for those that care?

We have our table at Full Tilt reserved.
From the main window of FT, click the "Tournament" tab
then click the "Private" tab.
Scroll down until you get to Sept. 11 - 21:00 selections and
double click the one that says Hold'em with a $10 + $1 for the Buy In.
It will show the name of the tourney to the left of the Cashier button just so you know it's the right one.
Another and much faster option is to click "Requests" at the top of the FT window then
"Find a Tournament by ID".
Enter this number - 60513516
and it will take you directly to the sign up page.
Anyone having any sign on difficulties let me know,
and we'll try to work it out before Thursday.
Are you IN Lynne???
We have enough room for 900 players, so don't be shy.

since there really isn't any way of not using poker speak how about definitions (think about it, it's like saying "Hi Rich, I have have the rope through this metal device and clipped to the caribiner which is locked to my waist harness so you may now climb up the rock and if you fall i will catch you and stop you from cratering as best I can" when I could simply say "you are on belay").
So...
blinds: two players have to put chips up on the table before cards are dealt. there is a small and a big blind. So "blinds are 50/100" mean one person puts out 100 and the other 50 chips w/o seeing their cards. the blind rotates.
bad beat: it means some lucky fool caught some cards that really helped them to win a hand when they were very behind.
pocket 9's: means the two cards dealt are 9's
All-IN: means all your chips have been pushed in the pot. IF you lose you are out of the tourney.
double-up: you just doubled your amount of chips
suck-out: it's what you do when you issue a bad beat.
"flops a flush": the first three shard cards are the flop. if they are all suited the same and you hold two of the same suit (making five total of the same suit and thus a flush) you flopped a flush.
"taco bill is down to a short stack but catches AA vs QQ next hand to double up. ": taco bill had a small stack - not much power. But he got two aces and the other person had two queens. aces beat queens so unless the five cards that are shard have a Q in it (giving him three Q's) then the Aces hold up and win.
"Stewed1: ive got my wife fetching beers, and a piss bottle in hand. no need to get up.": Salad has a sweet wife who is bringing him beers. To take a leak he pisses in a bottle next to his computer. He need not leave the computer (game) for any reason.
"goatboy now down to less then the big blind.... looks like trouble.": the blind (from above) was more than the total amount goat had in chips.
"Stewed1: im calling the home phone from my cell to request another beer. We'll see how well that goes over. ": pretty simple, Salad called the house phone to request that his wife bring a beer. She was probably two rooms away. LOL! But the deal was he made coffee in the AM for it.
bubbleboy time: means if you get prize money to three people and you go out fourth you are the bubble boy. That would have been me.
So short trip report.
In the pict I showed I was holding 33 while tkings was holding QJ.
The flop came Queen, four, three, giving me three three's and him a pair of Queens. When the other four (fourth card) came out it gave me a full house 3,3,3,4,4 while it gave him two pair Q,Q,4,4.
The trouble was when that third four came on the last (fifth) card it gave him 4,4,4,Q,Q while I had only 4,4,4,3,3. I was so far ahead of him. He had about a 50:1 chance of somehow beating me. But he sucked out with the two fours and delivered me a bad beat.

I bet it's Pocket Rockets to my Dolly Parton. The trouble is my smear is about as good as my ring lock, and BillyBob goes all in. The Flop comes, and I tell you, she ain't quite about it. All hearts, with a sixty-nine and a queen. This place looks about as classy as Micky-D's, without the sauce and suddenly, my arm bar doesn't feel so good. I slam a chicken wing as they go wild at the sudden Turn. It's another bitch. I'm slipping, greasing out. Suspicious, my sexy man-eating-woman hand doesn't look so good, and it's back to rosie's for me. All-in doesn't nearly describe the pleasure of this painful hand.
I say don't wait for the River, pounce on it when you're up.

You don't have to answer this....but how many hands did you play? Were you able to toss cards and get new ones or did you just play the hand dealt.
This is pretty fun. I am learning about poker...while I am watching a Chris Lindner DVD on climbing...did three routes at the climbing gym yesterday that I could not do last week and did two in good style.....

Lynne, how many hands? Not too sure what you mean. But in Texas Hold-em, you don't draw cards like in Five-Card Draw. Instead, you get two cards for yourself (the Hole cards) and there's 5 community cards (shared by all).
Here's an interesting site, it's for low-limit, but it explains the concepts well:
http://www.lowlimitholdem.com/articles/important_concepts_1.htm
~~~
PS:
You know life can REALLY suck and then good stuff starts to happen again.
Just wanted to say...I SOOO KNOW what you mean. Life got really, really good. For a while. Right now, it's back to sucking old peaches, but I plan to get to that good stuff again soon.
I look back and wonder how I made it through such crazy times, and then came around to saying "Damn, it's so worth being here." When I was down, I wrote a note to myself that said "Young at heart." Man did that help me out.
NOooo, on TV you learn how to play in a final table situation, where people have seen each other for days and so have an idea of what thier opponenet will probably do, and the blinds are so high that risks get taken that normally would not, and you are also looking at people playing who are already in the money.
That's NOT how you play at the start or middle of a tournament unless you want to leave early.
Though I agree with what dirt is saying in principle I agree more with mojede's suggestion for Lynne. A beginner won't pick up strategy by watching on TV. IF they have never played before they will A) understand the sequence of the game (three card flop, a turn, a river card, etc.) and B) start to understand some terms.
And then when she shows up at the Facelift and seeing P.E. play "The Flagstaff" or Gregg play "The Candyman" hand she really won't get it :-).
Beyond that though dirt and I and many on the taco might realize why Jesus bets the pot (laying him 2:1 pot odds) when he puts Doyle on a 3:1 draw, but people like Lynne are many many many hands of poker away from getting that part.
So yeah... watch on TV, learn the rules and the way the game is played but realize those guys know each other so well it's just silly.
I've read what dirt has to say about poker and I get that he's a good player.
I have a few problems with online poker right now.
1. My wireless connection tends to crap out and fold me at some very bad times. Once with pocket Aces DOH!!!!!!! I've tried to install a better port for the USB 2, but it didn't help. Maybe I'll try a totally different setup before long, but I'm still looking for a solution.
2. I HATE Full tilt anyway.
3. IF there are not enough entries to make it worth playing, I hate to risk my money. IN other words, I want winnings potential (for first place) to be 50 to 100 times buy-in. That means a pretty good sized tourney, or a big guarantee.
4. I HATE cash games. I didn't say I was bad at em, I just hate em.
5. All these damned drugs and chemo make it really hard for me to play well for very long. I have had two cash winning spells in online poker, one built up from ZERO, on 4 different sites, but wound up tossing off all winnings in a drug haze both times. that's a little scary. If you think narcotics don't affect your judgment, you are wrong, LOL!
Before I got sick, I was a winner. Put in 50, turned it to 96 in short order, then the chempo and drugs started and it was not very pretty from there.
The cash from scratch thing went well when I had a respite from the pain and the drugs, then it came back, and again, I just could not keep it together to win consistently, so I got mad and dumped all my winnings out of spite (yeah, THAT will show em, LOL) I actually had it down to what time of day to play, what sites, and what sort of tables to look for in the cash games. it's an art, and some sites give you the table stats so that if you know what to look for, you can guarantee success by picking the right table to sit at.
6. I'd rather drive to Tunica and play a real 50 dollar or so tourney against real players.
7. HEHE while we're at it, rebuys SUCK. YOU have to suffer though the rebuy morons, and hope fully your soild play will hold up agaisnt their morinic " I got two cards, I can just rebuy if I lose" mentality, then you have to beat em again after the end of the rebuy period. I hate that.
having said all that, if some wireless guru can help me out, and you guys are playing tourneys not cash games, I will try to play some with you on (ugh) full tilt. I MUCH prefer Poker Stars.
My connection just sucks like a hoover. I'm so far out of the computer thing, (once ran 5 OS's, wrote assembler code, and could edit win registry by hand to make it do cool stuff, but no more) and never did learn about wireless, so I could use the help.
Salad, I'm ok with one rebuy and IIRC the majority of the people who played last week were cool with that as well. I might be mistaken though...
The buyin seems ok too...but I typically don't play that large of a buyin, no worries though
what you SHOULD have gotten is that my wireless sucks so bad I can't really play for money, cause I tend to get disconnected adn folded at very bad times.
reading comprehension on this site just plain SUCKS, as usual.
And if you think poker is a money making scheme, you're wrong. You don't understand risk vs reward. this is a prime issue with any poker game you sit in.
IF you are playing with friends for low stakes, then the reward is the fun.
If you are going to put up 20 bucks, against strangers, then you ideally want to have a shot at 1000 for first place, because you only win or place about 20% of the time, so, you have to cover your play expense out of the few times you win or place, unless you just suck and like to throw away money cause you think poker is fun and you can afford to lose regularly. In general only the top three places pay very well, but in really big events as you ahve seen on TV (thousands of players, WSOP main event) even finishing 100 gains a LOT of cash. In the biggest year, I thin kthe one where Jaime Gold won, everyone at the final table made a million at least, LOL.
HINT: The idea that yo ucan only do well about 20% of the time in tourney play is standard. That counts for Pros and dedicated amateurs, not your average player, but the ides is, you find YOUR level and quality of play (read Buy-in) where you can win at that rate, or maybe even better.
Tournaments with short time controls and low prize to buy-in ratios SUCK. They are designed to make money for the organizers not the players, and nobody good plays in those.
Actually, I was going to break it down point by point, but it seemed worthless because of your first point, the wireless issue. This isn't really the thread to look for help on that, and I don't have any suggestions for you. Hence, I didn't address the topic.
I'd also like for you to examine your own writing on here before you criticize me for my reading comprehension skills. I actually waded through what you had to say fairly well. It was pretty negative, and I generally don't like to respond that. You also seemingly didn't really read much in this thread yourself, seeing as you didn't know if we were playing cash or tournament style, which is clearly addressed in the thread.
Also, calling people who want rebuys 'morons' and saying stuff 'SUCKS' doesn't help your cause either. I think I'm the youngest here at 25, and I find your tone rather juvenile.
Below is what I was referring to as your 'money making scheme'. I mean, here we are figuring out details for the next game, and you just go off. I really was just ribbing you a bit.
I actually had it down to what time of day to play, what sites, and what sort of tables to look for in the cash games. it's an art, and some sites give you the table stats so that if you know what to look for, you can guarantee success by picking the right table to sit at.
As for the poker advice, your big claim was getting your role up twice and:
Before I got sick, I was a winner. Put in 50, turned it to 96 in short order, then the chempo and drugs started and it was not very pretty from there.
That's not a very big return for an example, which is what you were lecturing on. I know you are talking about cash games in this reference, but you said yourself that you 'hate them' and how we should be getting 50 to 100 times on our investment when we win.
I actually play with people who claim poker winnings as their primary income. They feel my game is pretty solid as a novice, and I'm actually not doing too bad. No offense, but I'd rather take their advice. The books they have and borrow out are good too.
Tournaments with short time controls and low prize to buy-in ratios SUCK. They are designed to make money for the organizers not the players, and nobody good plays in those.
True, playing a $20+$2 9 man isn't as profitable as playing a $20+$2 with hundreds of people playing, but it's not a bad way to learn. Winning a 9 man at that buyin level is a nice takedown too. Believe it or not, but good players actually do play 'sit and gos' and there are some books written by pros for 'sit and go strategy'. Overall I agree with you though, larger fields obviously yield larger pots.
IF you are playing with friends for low stakes, then the reward is the fun.
Which is pretty much what this thread is about, sorry about mucking it up with this response folks.
Dirt, if you get the wifi figured out, you're more than welcome to come by and play. It'd be fun, which is what this was supposed to be about.
Cheers,
Tom
All: don't mind the bitter and fukked up Dirt. We went through this with the first wave of Taco poker.... Dirt has all the excuses and none of the sack. Dirt, get a new routine. This one is really tired. As for the wireless problem, maybe you could drape a wire into your basement and then plug into the back of your box. Why would a guy who never leaves the basement even need wireless?
Personally, $20 seems a bit steep for the ST Tourny, but I will still play if that's what you guys decide, and I am available.
I have a regular home-cash game I play, and visit a tourny somewhat regularly. The tourny is a $10 buy in and generally has between 20-30 folks, no rebuy; the cash-home game is a $20 (.25-.50)and draws between 6 and 12 folks and you can buy as many $20 stacks of chips as you like once your down to almost nothing.
Dirt, you seem pretty clueless and I've only been playing about a year. The ST tourny was the first time i've played for money on the intardnets, took home something like $8 bucks from that and have since turned the mandatory $50 deposit into roughly $98 playing .05/.10 and .25/.50 cash games. I don't plan on loosing it, or throwing it away in spite, but if I do you can be certain that I won't be bragging about my internet poker prowess. You do know that regular Joes play for hundreds if not thousands of dollars per hand nightly in those cash games right?
Anyhow, I'm all in on the next one.
And furthermore, you can't even appreciate a good rant when you see one.
BUT one day, when I do get the wireless worked out, maybe I will play with you guys. Yesterday though, crappy disconnects cost me real money, UGH. I only cashed (and badly) cause I had hit several good hands, giving me double the average, and then while offline I managed to make the second cut since I had a big pile o chips-- which got folded away as I tried to reconnect for an hour, DOH.
IT SUCKS to be sitting pretty, good table image, reasonable quality of play all round, having an enjoyable game for once, and then when you fianlly get back online, you are half the average instead of twice the average.
Just in case you are interested, ( I know you're not ) I went out with an all in on top pair, post flop. The ace rag caller hit his gutshot straight on the river.
So what do you guys think about re-buys and add ons? Are they good or bad? It helped me this match since I showed up late and had been blinded 250+ in chips so I immediately rebuyed. But generally I don't like them...how bout you guys?
Let's say roughly 2 weeks from now I will get the next one together unless there is a call for a game sooner.
Alright guys, heres the primer for the next game...
It will be in two weeks from yesterday. So the date is the....21st of October.
The game structure...no add-ons. Since everyone bought an add-on it served no useful purpose other than to make the prize pool larger. So I am going to do a $20 buy-in tourney. This will give us a good sized prize pool without the hassle of needing to buy an add-on. And no re-buys. Get knocked out then game over. Of course you are more than welcome to hang out and watch and talk trash at the table.
So gentleman and ladies...save your FTP nickels and dimes and make sure you have $20 in your FTP account. And get ready fold'em or show 'em!
Calling all Gambling Addicts...
The next Supertopo suckers tournament of donkeys is one week from today, Tuesday October 21. Here are the details from the email...
Thank you for your e-mail and tournament request. I have created your private nl hold'em freezeout tournament as you requested in your e-mail below with 2000 starting chips and it is open for registration at this time. In order to locate your tournament, click the "Private" tab in the tournament lobby & it is also possible to locate your tournament by clicking on Requests, then Find Tournament by ID:
Tournament #64016515 (10/21/08 21:00 ET)
Name/Title: Supertopo Suckers II
Password: wideislove
Occcurance: one time
Date: 10/21/2008
Time: 2100
Buyin: $20/$2
Game: Hold 'em
Limit: No Limit
Remember, start times are in Eastern time, so 2100 = 9:00PM Eastern = 6:00pm Pacific. Again, this is a freeze-out so no re-buys or add-ons. And I bumped it up to $20 since there are no re-buys or add-ons so we can have a good size prize pool.
Feel free to bump as needed.
So Strider/Kingsbury, Need more education please. What does $20/$2 mean ?
And for Limit: No limit....does no limit mean you can raise to no limit like $100.00 un mas? What could the max bet for a hand be? Thanks LRL
Lynne,
The $20/2 means that the total buy-in is $22. $20 goes towards the prize pool and $2 goes to the service that provides the game. So if 5 people buy-in then the total prize pool will be $100 and Full Tilt Poker will get $10 for giving us a place to play
No limit means exactly that. There is no limit on any bet for the duration of play. So if you have $100 in front of you, at any time you can say, "all in" with your $100.
This game is also a freeze-out. That means if you lose all your chips you can not buy more, you are out of the tournament. . The last game we had was a $10 buy-in and you could re-buy once for $10. So some people put in $20 because they lost early in the game and some people only bought in for the $10 because they didn't lose all of their chips.
Finally to fund a Full Tilt Poker account you must use a Visa card and the minimum funding is $50.
Hope to see you at the game.
Thanks Strider, really do appreciate your time and patience. You don't have to answer this, maybe someone else will...I get it all But, what if you have $100 and put it in and no one else has $100.
1) they can't buy more chips, right
2) do you just win cause no one can match your bet?
3) I don't mind if you snicker and think...idiot...: ))
I will always respond because it keeps this thread alive and hopefully we will get more players! =)
So, here's a quick scenario...
I am player 1, you are player 2.
Player 1 has $75 in chips
Player 2 has $100 in chips
We each are dealt our two cards.
Player 1 acts first. He choses to call.
Player 2 checks.
The flop (3 cards) comes down
Player 1 checks
Player 2 goes all in for $100
Player 1 calls for the $75 he has in front of him! Player two gets back the unmatched $25 and the total pot will be Player 1's $75 and Player 2's $75 for a total of $150.
After that the rest of the cards are dealt and fate decides the winner. I am oversimplifying this but that is basically how it works.
I am sorry to say this Lynne but if your money means anything to you and you are asking these questions you may want to sit down with some friends and play in real life before you go on the computer. Things go pretty quick online as there is a time limit imposed. Then again, it is only $20 and it is a lot of fun to play with people you know and have met!
Regardless, feel free to ask any more questions you may have.
well, since I took a LOT of abuse in this thread for handing out what is basically great poker advice, I feel it is only natural to point out that since returning to my online poker club of people who REALLY take poker seriously, I have won outright three tournaments, placed in the money in three others, with one being a 5th out of 6800 to win a ticket for a 2k prize fund event.
So say what you will about my ideas of what is good play, but my record speaks for itself, against pretty stiff competition in the club events, where I have placed 1,1,2 and zip zip out of five total. That's pretty hard to do.
BTW, I won't be playing in ST events, cause you guys put up too much money for too few hands, and that means there is too much luck involved. besides, being on disability, I can't afford to play a 20 + 2 dollar buy in, especially when I can get serious competition from my club for 2.70, and by being at the top of the leader board, I get entries into the free rolls with a nice prize fund.
Oh yeah, I've also taken 4 bounties.
Yep, I'm bragging. Sue me. BUT I'm also pointing out that I DO know what I'm talking about in Poker, contrary to what some of you seem to think.
IF I live though the next few weeks, and not have to take too many narcotics, I may be going places in poker.
dirt, i thought u played last time or was it jdf just making fun?
haha 'to many goddamn oxis!!!!!'
anyways, no offense but generally free-rolls and dollar tourneys are EASY, because no one knows how to play/ gives a sh#t. so the higher the buy-in means harder competition.....
but maybe not the case here....if your half as good as you say your are, then you should have no problem making the bread.
whats your online poker handle, just curious, so i can see some statistics.
P, only part of my results for the last two weeks are from the great unwashed free rolls, the others, two firsts, a second, and two zips ( out of five events total) are against club players, who are almost all dedicated to playing well. Some of them sit in games with thousands of dollars on the table. (I'm not one of those) I really don't care what the ST crowd thinks about my play, cause my club considers me a dangerous player-- which means I now have to be clever to get action on my good hands, DOH.
And if you think getting though 6000- 25000 people who play like total idiots is easy, give it a try, see how well you do. It's not to hard to sit at a table with one or two idiots and win, but when you get 5 or even 6 calls on a 3-5x BB raise, or EVERYONE at the table tries to limp in every hand, you are playing crapshoot poker. Hell, it's not even poker then, LOL.
IF you do give this a try, I suggest the Razz games. Razz free rolls usually have fewer players, and although razz is a 60% game as opposed to an 80% game ( meaning that in razz the best starting hand A 2 3 only holds up 60% of the time, while in NLH AA holds up 80% of the time) there are soooo many more people who are clueless about razz that anyone with discipline and a slight bit of luck can do much better in those free rolls than in say the limit holdem or stud or omaha or NHL free rolls. PLus, in Razz, good starting hands are extremely well defined. You know exactly what to play and what not to play at a full table. Most people are clueless about this fact in the Razz free rolls.
Since I'm on full disability, and my income is abysmally low, I do not have the bankroll to play 20 dollar games. in case you don't know, a serious player should never play outside his bank roll, because it is entirely possible to lose 10 or twenty games in a row-- even if you make no mistakes. you have to be able to weather that. A good rule of thumb is that your bankroll should cover 100 tournament buy-ins. (that's for a tournament player of course, for live games it's way way different)
So, to play in 20 dollar tournaments, you should be willing to put up 2000 bucks, plus the fees. IF you are good enough, you should be winning and placing in the money 20% of the time or better. THIS is a great outcome, and it's also the reason why the prize fund should pay at least 50-100 times entry for first place, and the rest accordingly-- because you have to be able to pay for that 80% you lose out of your winnings.
You can argue with this theory if you like, but it's not me you're arguing with-- it's guys like Chris Ferguson and Tom MacElroy, and several other pros who write about how to play in tournaments.
The first 3 games were tenny buy-ins, didn't see you there, either. Great comments, though, always a treat to listen to an expert shell out opinions for the little guys (one of whom plays for a living).
Can you give me an opinion on siding installation ? It's cold here today, and I need a good warming laugh.
edit: re-reading upthread a bit: PKingsbury's advice was a relative gold mine compared to the ideas that Curt has offered.
Patrick, thanks for the persy tips online, you could have just called me:-) Also, games are played for many reasons, winning and competition being the big two, but if I were to play for those alone, then I would prolly be not as happy as I think that I am. Give me a well-matched game of racquetball any day to feed me a comp/win fix.
Nature: that is weird that you can't use any of your credit cards. I used mine from Washington Mutual and it worked fine. I thought I originally used by bank card but I checked my account a few minutes ago and I used a full fledged credit card. Don't know why it isn't working for you....??? Try emailing them...
There does seem to be a problem with FTP accepting cards. Why mine works and for some people it doesn't work is beyond me . I would try emailing FTP and see what they say.
There is a more complicated way to go. If you know someone who has a card that does work you can have them buy the chips for you and they can transfer the chips from their FTP account to your FTP account.
For the record I used a Washington Mutual Visa Credit Card.
