If you find him I hope he is man enough to own up to you and treat you like you deserve to be treated. If you find him and he is not a man, and knew about you, I say f*#k him and move on. You're better than than that by virtue of your quest.

Best of luck.

Prod,

Perhaps you know something that the rest of us do not.

If all you know is what is here on this thread, how can you be so fast to judge?

I wish her luck in finding her father.

Dipper and Khanom,

All that I am saying is that I hope she finds her dad and it works out, but if it does not, she ought to move on. Further if she finds him and he knew about her he is an ass and better make it up to her.

If the guy had no clue about his daughter, he damn well better man up meet, know, and help his little girl.

Is that too controversial?

Sorry man, but I call B.S.

If you know you got a little you out there then you better "MAN UP", period. If you find out after the fact then you better man up. If you knew all along then you are not a man at all until you man up to your child.

Jennie,

I am sorry for not aiding in finding your dad. I hope that you find what you are looking for. Honestly.

Nobody knows anything about this situation. Is it really his kid who is posting? I don't know, but assume so. Prod is telling her to be careful if/when she finds him. Not bad advise. I did not get the impression of any judgment being made by Prod. If the father is 40, she’s probably in her teens. Young. We’d all like to see a happy ending, but the only fact we have is someone claiming to be the daughter of a lost father. I accept it at face value, but I think caution is needed. Obviously, Pops has not been a part of her life for quite a while, which begs the question why. I’m not judging, but I think it is prudent to tread lightly.

I wish both a wonderful outcome.

Thank you Nostrodomas, I'd really like that.

Southern Sierra Climbers' Association, yes thats it!

Prod - Thank you for your concern, I understand where you are comming from.

Just to let everyone know I AM his dughter (thats me with my dad in the pictures) and yes he knows about me. Im 21 years old and havent seen my dad for about 8 years now. I dont know exactly why he took off, but im not judging him for it. I love him no matter what. I just want to let him know how I'm doing and to make sure hes doing alright as well.

In an attempt to be helpful, and assuming that Jennie is able to decide for herself:

1. There is a Joe Trapanese who lives in North Bend, Washington and is 84.
2. There is a Joseph Trapanese who is a fairly well-known composer of music, and who clogs up searches under that name. He is only 24, so not the right guy.
3. There are lots of people named Trapanese in Sicily, and the word seems to have some connection to Homer's "Odyssey".
4. There are various dishes using the word Trapanese in their title.
5. Searches using various combinations of key words from the information provided don't seem to turn up anything helpful.

He seems to be fairly low-profile, in terms of the internet. A little surprising, given a reasonably distinctive name, and age in the late 40s.

The grandfather (JT's father) seems the most promising approach.

applaud that.

Not to be a wet blanket, and I'm not accusing the OP of misrepresenting herself, but there have been two similar searches on climbing forums in the last 6 years that I can recall where the person "searching" was not who they said they were. In both cases it was an LEO or skip trace person looking for someone who did not want to be found.

Something to consider, anyways.

The SSCA (Souther Sierra Climbers Association) is a cliquey, tight-knit kinda bunch, for the most part. If he's hanging out with them, it shouldn't be too difficult to find out. They also have a yahoo group (can't remember the name of it, but searching yahoo groups for SSCA will get you there) that they all post to rather frequently. You might try posting there to see what they have to say.

Good luck!

edit: And I have to strongly disagree about the second picture. There's nothing funny about the light on the faces. Take a few pics, do some processing, get to know light, etc. "Dad" is facing a different driection, doesn't have hair on the forehead. There's nothing in the pics to suggest anything funny.

Could we please keep the space for Jennie and the important topic at hand?

Jennie, I wish you luck with your search. I was adopted, never knew my bio father, though I found out where he is and wrote to him three times, no response. As a man and a dad, I can say these things are complex.

Your open heartedness and clarity will serve you well, when you find him, he will be a lucky man.

Well Peter, threads go where they go.

I don't see anything helpful in YOUR post, BTW.

But there are two good leads, which is pretty high signal to noise ratio for 45 posts in an ST thread.

So relax.

I just hope that when she finds the dad, things go well.

Hello Jennie,
I have met your dad and done some bouldering with him. Either I or Rene Aredesch of Exeter, Ca took the picture of him on the boulder. I am pretty sure it is from a trip to Courtright Reservoir in the Sierra. I have sent out a letter via our yahoo email group to the rest of the members of the SSCA. Joe went to Washington to take care of his ailing father. I also posted a link to this thread. You get something. Sorry there are so many conspiracy theorists in the world.
