Had a great time last night trying out Scuffy's new and improved Plywood Antichrist!!

Three Steves, AlexC and me. It is now 26 feet tall with a new 8 foot flared section on top.

Here are some photos:

Kudos to scuffy for building a truely strange device. A man of many talents!

It is a bit ominous towering over you when you start.

I have strange pains this morning. I'm not quite sure I'm getting better at this strange game, but I do have more scabs and scars.

Yep Scuffy, you were right. Yours is bigger and stiffer than a photo makes it look! It took Gary nine shots to get the Redwood Antichrist in here completely...what a monument to torture.

The texture is an epoxy paint with sand.
2/6 is coarse: play box sand
2/6 is fairly fine: "medium" sand
2/6 is slick or mostly slick (it started that way)

The texture is proving to be durable. The coarsely textured
components are a year old, and could still use some grinding
or something.

It's bolted to the tree.

EDIT: there is, in fact, a lot of plain wood showing right now.
the latest changes were not finished pending evaluation of their
function. It will look better.

Hey!!! Is that the same pink monstrosity that I saw on the Weird Wednesday thread? That looks like something out of a deranged fairy tale! Who is in charge of stocking the shelves? There not doing a very good job. What kind of snaks and magazines do you carry? Hey, put the cookies and Playboys on top! Now focus, focus, focus! Yes, that's how G&E buffers train.

It's the same device. The special features you suggested may have
a chance of working. If you check Grug's post, I think you'll
agree that he's almost ready to step into it. He may have to
circle it a few times. Maybe snort and paw up some dirt

So when will the RedwoodGiant be developed so this monster can be led? Pine lobes on pine walls should work, or someone could go Via Ferrata-style and clip those big threaded bolts as they climbed (emphasis on "someone" and "could").

Hope to make it back down soon.

Did you scarf the lumber or pay good money? There's the big question, too, "Will it outlast the tree or get carried aloft slowly after you've gone away?" And will it improve your ability on stone?

Good question Mouse. Though of course the answer is yes, I have a number of long sandstone analogs that I have (so far in vain) attempted to tempt Scuffy and skills with for the last few years. Cool stuff, early, even first ascents! No lines, no waiting!!
