tip of the hat to the good capt'n and thanks for the cards to neebee and nita.

John Prine ≈ Often Is A Word I Seldom Use

both of these tunes are from the lp Sweet Revenge (1973), they don't stay up on youtube before being yanked. i'm not sure if it is Atlantic Records or Mr. Prine himself leading the charge.

John Prine ≈ Grandpa Was A Carpenter

I must admit that until sidmo recommended it to me I had not viewed, nor heard this one, but can 21 1/2 Million plus uTubers be wrong?

Bo (no relation to Freddie or z) Brown Band asks the eternal question

Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not?

Well, not while you're screwing other women.

3fer for zb,

Bob Marley ≈ Kinky Reggae (another brown song)

probably no need to bring this little ditty to the brownlist:
Rolling Stones ≈ Brown Sugar

i prefer black to brown...
Rolling Stones ≈ Paint It Black

↓nothing to with the brown theme; but zb knows the significance.

Otis Redding ≈ Mr. Pitiful (Otis Redding, Steve Cropper)

According to Steve Cropper the song came from a d.j. who hung the moniker, Mr. Pitiful, on Mr. Redding for his recording efforts. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinions; although sometimes the thought of expressing them should be suppressed.

Well then, maybe time for the whites or maybe some rubber biscuits or maybe pitch a ball down to the union hall.

"ya wouudn't want my hat to fall down now would ya?"

BTW Wilbeer, that's one of my favorite Band songs and performances.

The Whites, under a veil of darkness, fade to Black

EDIT:

Tobia. Got the flashdrive, thanks. I do not remember any Ry Cooder songs about or recorded in CV. One of the members of Cream (can't remember which) got busted here on the way back from Tijuana for "public urination". Some other rocker got busted a ways up the highway by Camp Pendleton for going something like 140 mph.

CV is on the list of the most boring towns in the U.S., but The Zeros are from here and Conga player Javier Cabanillas, who opened for Ry Cooder (at least once) taught here.

i wonder if any other thread on the taco containing 16600 plus posts has virtually no ill-will, criticism or hate, other than negative posts directed at the thread itself? Indeed there may not be a thread with 160 posts without these negative traits. i venture to guess it is more of a statement on the magic of music than personalities, considering my tendency to show my butt occasionally elsewhere.

i'm in a weird space today, as my sis moved to Alexandria, VA yesterday to try to gain a stronger foothold in life after trying here for the last 15 years. She's my strongest ally in a family of seven siblings, we have more in common than all the others combined, as we have similar struggles, both internal and external. i couldn't say that 15 years back, as i didn't know her as well prior to her return here from FL.

Forgive my excess verbiage, as well as pushing it with yet another John Prine song, one that expresses my joy for my sister's new start, as well as that empty feeling when them changes come.

John Prine ≈ Clocks & Spoons

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Tobia. This thread DOES seem to have an automatic hug attached to it, doesn't it?

Man, I never knew until now that Harry died in a car crash.. back in '81 when I was twelve. I started listening to his music around then...

I ALSO didn't know until now that it was a dude singing the backing vocals in this song :-D
