In my not so humble opinion, Patti Smith's version of Drifter's Escape is one of the best interpretations of a Dylan song.
Better than either of Jimi's.

riding the jj cale wave a little longer. two of his best songs, made popular by poco and eric clapton respectfully, are magnolia and after midnight.
i think timid said something about his phrasing on the jj cale thread and that is what makes his original recordings so special.
