my rent-a-dog, came with the price of admission. She followed me on my hike the whole way up and back. Never got too close to me, but would start to whimper if I wasn't keepin' up the pace.

a large character in a small body from the looks of it; I am sure that she'd likewise thank you for being included on your adventures R.

thanks for the reminder to hug 'em. I sometimes wonder why my auto is always trashed inside. And then I see my boy hunting mudsharks.

I needed that reminder to hug the brother in adventure that never says no to a hike. Thanks rincon, and may your tears come with full joy at the time you shared together.

Thanks you guys. You know, before Cookie, I would never have imagined I'd be a Pomeranian person. She was supposed to be our daughters pup, but circumstances as they were, Cookie became my wife and I's...

"a large character in a small body from the looks of it" You nailed it bravecowboy! Pound for pound Cookie was as tough as they come. She walked her own walk and lived life on her own terms. Never slowing down with age, she was spunky and agile as puppy right down to her last day. I love my Australian Sherpard, shes a perfect dog, does everything you'd expect a dog to do,...but Cookie was sooooo different from that. She was an original and like no other. She had the heart of a lion, and ironically that was what killed her. She had an enlarged heart, something small dogs get, I'm told.

How often was she the "Cookie Monster"? Dear Cookie, so many buds over that Rainbow bridge you'll romp with.

Sadly, Emma is blind now the past month due to cataracts from the diabetes. She's learning to negotiate the world a lot better after a few weeks and bumps into objects less often each day. But the vet and I are still having difficulty getting her glucose levels down consistently with the right insulin dose. She still has huge swings in her glucose levels, not good.

We talked about cataract surgery but she's eight now and we're not considering that while (more importantly) we still do not have the diabetes under control. For now, with hearing and smell having always been her primary senses, she is learning to run Braille, and I can tell she is happy when her energy is up, which is most of the time.

Rincon, sorry about yer dog. Always sucks. Time after time. Life is a series of dogs. At least that's what I've found. Time can be recalled by the dogs who were your friends at the time.

Really strong bond, that is always too fuking short. At least they get to rest in peace while we still remember the time with them.

I always like Knopp's Beagle too! A special place for Beagles here....I had 2.

Hey, Rincon: Sorry to hear about your hound. Our boy has the big C, so we live each day as best we can. We love these furry beasts, eh? Take care. You two did a lot together. Hang onto those good times.
