Hey Susan you still in Santa Cruz? I could take that vest off your hands. We could meet at Pac Edge if you are still in town

Anyone hear about the dog that was just found near Foresthill after 20 months missing? Cool stuff.

Spinal surgery -- again.

First night home after six nights in the animal hospital. She had a ruptured disk in her neck, and they went in through her throat to clean it out. This is the second time she's needed this done. The first being 3 1/2 years ago.

So far, so good. She can walk!

meet the new member of the pack:

Miss Lucia is a little mamacita from puerto rico. she's clearly had a couple litters and sports a few battle scars, including a torn ear, but she's very sweet and affectionate. the rescue called her a mix, but i'm going to tell everyone she's a miniature rottie because that's exactly what she looks like.

let me make a plug for adopting adult dogs...i know everyone loves puppies, but there are so many great dogs that need a home...lucy was already house trained and crate trained; she is great with other dogs, great with people, great with kids, great on a leash; and she's a quick learner; she's my third lost dog (lostdogrescue.org)...i know people are concerned that rescue dogs come with baggage; in fact, the cutest puppies can grow up to be problem dogs...and, deep down, i believe rescue dogs know you're saving them

Awesome bookworm.
I agree about adopting adult dogs. I always figured that I had to get a dog as a puppy to have the ultimate bond and for the dog to be completely with the program. Rosie proved that theory wrong.
Congrats, for you AND her.
Now get that mini rotty a bigger bed!
That thing's made for a chihuahua!

Second day home, and Poo's doing better than we expected.

Not the most graceful dog in the yard, but she's walking on her own. That's more than she could do Wednesday-before-last, when I took her to the vet.

Bookworm... Your new dog looks like a little sweetheart, it's in her eyes. Congrats on the newest member of your family, and big ups to you for adopting an adult dog!

Drljefe... that is one bad ass photo of Rosie... so glad you finally posted it! She looks beautiful and right at home in the back country, as always. (She is our fearless leader!)

Chaz... so happy to see your pup is doing better... that is wonderful news!
