Bronson doing what he does best. He's 12+ now, arthritic, on pain meds, but still loves the ball and walks. Be so happy if he makes it to summer. Love 'em while we can, 'cause they sure love us.

10b...

drljefe...

My deepest condolences.

Why dogs don't live as long as humans? It is because they already know how to love, enjoy the simple pleasures of life, etc. They are only here to tutor us. We humans are the ones that must take the whole class to learn the lessons they already know.

Yes, this was taken tonight after Bill gave her a bath. She was feeling cold and really loved being wrapped up in her blanket. She's been snoring ever since.

I'm looking for help with a name.

A friend just got a female black lab puppy which she rescued. She got it 4 years nearly to the day that she had to put down her beloved border collie. I helped raise Haley and she was a great dog.

She is deciding between

Sunday

or

Emma

Got any comments. Supposedly the dog has a very good disposition. I will post pics when/ if she sends me some. Thanks..

North, I can identify all too well.

But here's a funny/sad story. 4am this morning we wake up with soft dog noises, quiet ooohhh, coming from somewhere in the house. Leslie gets up and sees that 14yo Jack is not in his bed at the foot of our bed, so she makes a quick tour of other rooms but does not see him there either.

Following the ooohhh sounds she comes back and discovers Jack has become stuck deep under our bed. On the hardwood floor he got into a position where his efforts to sit up just pushed him farther under the bed, which has enough space for the big dog on his side but not to roll over or crawl. So we launched a 4am dog rescue mission, sliding the sad guy all the way back out.

A big drink of water and some affection calmed him down. Age brings such indignity.

Marley collapsed on a hike last week, and we had to put her down this morning. No legitimate treatment for hemangiosarcoma. Don't know if I will ever get over her.

Don't know if I will ever get over her.

You won't, nor should you. But someday the emptiness will be replaced by the comfort of memories that will envelope you and carry you forward, which is really the only healthy way to go. I lost my big yellow girl over 2 and a half years ago and it still scrapes but I now look at her picture and her "box" and I smile and remember the endless runs and hikes and love. And I knew I owed it to her to eventually move outside of myself and learn to love again. I bet you will too. No need to rush it. Let it unfold. You'll feel her

nudge you when it's time.

I am so very sorry for your loss.

I agree with what Susan wrote. You won't but it will become fond memories. I still think of Lass everyday and... Even though Loki is fantastic and I really love her too, Loki can not replace what is lost. Loki is something else completely new with her own spot she has created for herself. Our hearts simply grow bigger to take it all in. Plus all that love never leaves... It stays with you.
