I found a cast, white, ceramic Buddha statue in the old bear box at the base of after seven in early spring, I thought it was a funny little left behind totem or something and didn't give i much more though but then last night at the Taqueria I was talking to some climbers who had found a bunch of similar items tied in the trees at the five and dime cliff.

Mysterious.

Anybody else seen these in other places in the valley or know why they are there or who is putting them up?

Wow, that's unrelated.

We found little green army men all over Central Pillar of Frenzy once.

I noticed one of these things at Church Bowl a couple of weeks ago.

If you've ever driven in Latin America, you know that the most dangerous sections of roads have crosses, flowers and statuettes where people have crashed and died. If you ever come around a blind turn, four wheel drifting on wet pavement on a mountain road in El Salvador, with an oncoming bus taking up the whole road, and in your peripheral vision you notice hundreds of white crosses, you'll know you can kiss your Yankee ass goodbye.

I think someone might be placing the Buddha statuettes where climbers have died. Someone cratered off Copper Penny about 20 years ago if memory serves.

Last year at Loggerhead, I swear I saw something. White.
Can't say I saw it yesterday.

There was a 5" bhudda statue in the middle of the 5th or so pitch of after 7 when I did it a couple years ago, set back in that wide crack.

There was a cast white Buddha on Royal Arches on 3/17/07. Litter, but we left it in place.

This sort of related: Once, while climbing in North Carolina, Stone Mountain, for those who care, jammed into the entrance crack was a plastic green castle. I thought it odd, but passed it without much thought. My second erupted in laughter while following.

When she arrived I commented that there wasn't much protection in the wide crack; she asked me why I didn't clip the green "Camalot"

I took me a second, but it made the rest of the epic day a hysterical adventure involving ladybugs, goats, a one armed-Robert Plant look-alike, and his girlfriend Amanda Plummer....

North Cackalaky is plain weird!
