Was it Kor who when asked why he climbed spires said, "because they won't always be here"? Well good call Layton!
This is why we should all drop what were doing and get down to southern utah to bag some spires!

It's a troll? Darn it. I thought now maybe I could manage to send what's left. The Totem stub.

This space is reserved cause I'm reserving judgement for now.

After all, a convincing thread of Boot Flake falling off was pulled off in the past.

Still, with all the names and details, this would be a masterful scam if so.

If it wasn't a scam, it would be pretty amazing for that thing to finally fall over in good weather just like that.

Funny internet, we can get news before even the locals can report it, but sometime it's so fast we can't trust it yet

if it's true, it'll be a great story!

peace

Wow... "Shivers up my spine," and I know my imagination is not even doing justice to how scary that must have been like.
Thanks you for remaining healthy and not needing ST to host another memorial thread.

Instead let us celebrate that all of you are alive. Peter Drummond & Casey Giles, please share with us your version. When you survive against impossible odds, you need to share with us the experience! We at ST will be talking about it for years around climbing camp sites. It will become part of our traditional lore that will leave thousands of climbers slack jawed.

I am really happy you are all alive. (Really, really, happy.)

P.S. John Long!
You need to get out your magic pen, interview these guys and write about this! (John has a talent of making stories be so vivid that they can leave impressions in a person's mind that are almost stronger than the experience itself.) It will be a beautiful article.

Awesome - even had a perfectly good hint in the OP. Those two guys from CA must have been pretty heavy.

I love the authentic stuff too, seppoes, whinging poms, and it's what there now in Melbourne, 3 AM?

It's a troll.

We have banned this person and several of their identities at UKClimbing.com.

This person is also banned from Chockstone.org

We changed their thread at UKC to "BULLSH#T: Tasmania's Totem Pole collapses into sea."

Did the guillotene (from hollywood and vine), the gendarm (from seneca), old stone face (?), that thing north of blanding that Jello 'yanked off' and various other examples of mass wasting/ punctuated equilbrium, all go to the same after life? They don't gotta share it with trolls? do they?

hey guys! sorry to say i can say the tote is 100% still there! we were out there on saturday, it was raining everywhere so we couldnt climb! braving the mist and heaps of wet bushes we found, not to our surprise, one 70m piece of dolerite! i found it pretty hard to beleive due to the tote being one joined column, the whole thing would fall, not half! also wheres the pictures and why didnt the dudes on it come and tell people on their way home? at the gym or at gear shops?

so sorry to be a spoil sport, but i know im pretty glad its still there! maybe its time to book your flights here! i can garantee the tote is only a fraction of whats on offer here!

Simon.....how is that whole park doing? Four years ago there was a significant fire pretty much from Fortescue Bay all the way down to the Tote. The fire was out but the park was closed when I was there, which made for an eerily quiet charred landscape along the trail.

Ouch!

Yes, weak.

Especially when spending only ~30 seconds more using Healing Brush would have been enough to obscure the obvious lines that outline the edges of the "former" sea stack.

Nice way to spend New Year's day, Deuce!

Trolls can be fun.

Got some great responses a while ago to "Malemute Area At Squamish Shot-creted!".

Murray even fed the troll for a bit. It was all in fun.

The Tasmanian Totem Pole is healthy and fine.

Here are some photos of climbing the Totem Pole in Tasmania taken a year ago if there is any doubt....
