The Rowell Award for the Art of Adventure honors that adventurer whose artistic passion illuminates the wild places of the world, and whose accomplishments significantly benefit both the environment and the peoples who inhabit these lands and regions.

This $15,000 annual cash award was established by The Rowell Legacy Committee composed of friends, business associates and admirers of the late Barbara and Galen Rowell. The award will be presented to an individual selected by a panel of active and influential members of the outdoor adventure world.

To all of Brian Postlethwait's "Outdoor buddies", I would like to propose the following: I can think of no higher honor that I know of than for him to be honored by this "Rowell Award", and the $15,000 award to be given to Tara in his name. So, I throw out the challenge for those who want to step forward, fill out the nomination, and make supporting comments from all who knew him. Some of you knew him for Rock/Ice Climbing, and many of you knew things about his activities I never knew. I only found out about the routes he and Barry established in Mammouth from Barry at the ceremony. Matt has pictures I didn't even know existed. Some of you know him from his Skiing activities at Mammouth, and in Utah where he did the extreme back country and "mountain top" skiing for which he made a video. Some others of you know him for his river rafting and kayaking experiences, some from surfing, others from backpacking, and still others from Boy Scouts where he achieved the Eagle and learned of the great outdoors in the first place. If it was outdoors and required skill, Brian was involved and became an expert. Let's pass this on to all who knew him and put forth the supporting information that only you may know. Someone please fill out the application, as I think one of you as his closest friends probably knows more about these activities than I do. I will be happy to supply any additional help I can.

Let's give Brian a lasting testimonial.

Ken Yager's climbing museum and clean up projects are a pretty inspiring combo of art and environmentalism, IMO.

I don't think there's much question here. Bobby Model is still here with us. He's the perfect candidate. And the money may help him.* Let's lobby for Bobby.

*And let's honor those who have passed in appropriate ways, as well.
