As we are walking to Debbie's car (which she kindly lent me), parked around the corner from Pyramid's front door, it's raining and we're in Berkeley and it's midnight... Jaybro says: "what a strange set of events got us here tonight", indeed, What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been...
...the Non-Sushi-Fest-Pity-Party turned out to be quite a party... we all got to meet agents behind the avatars who post here, in the loud busy atmosphere of the Pyramid Ale House a mutli-threaded conversation took place among the geographically local, local to the SF Bay Area out to about a 50 mile radius...
Many images of the events were taken... beer was consumed along with bar food. I think many future TR's hopefully involving climbing will result...
Great to see you all, thanks to Chris Mac for the place to hangout, virtually, and meet all you.
I even got a thin-hands lesson from Melissa at the BIW, in that nasty thin crack that always shuts me down...
Anyway, here's to you all! Hope to see you out on the rock and in the mountains sometime soon.

Right on, Ed - sounds like fun.
But you're posting at 9:30 AM?!
Clearly did not have enough to drink last night.
Which is OK, I guess.

Ditto what Ed said. Thanks for coming out, ya'll.
LuckyPink (aka: Maureen) and I got there at 7:30 and reserved a big table for 8:30. Place was packed.
The gang
L-R; Louis and Karen McKenzie, me, Ed, Jaybro an fattrad are in the corner, then Jeff McCoy at the end. Spyork, Melissa, PhilB, blank spot where LuckyPink was sitting before she got up to take the photo, and AlexC.
So THAT's Matt!!??
That's Ed's head up front, fattrad in green, McCoy, Matt standing, and Spyork. Missed the shot of Matt and fattrad hugging. It was a fleeting moment.
SlobMonster getting serious with Ed. Melissa eating onion rings, and Susan, Matt's wife, watching the carnage. She left pretty darn quick, which was smart.
We were hoping Matt and fattrad would go to fists, but they played nice for once.
Mmmmm.
AlexC
Cheers! That's my arm with the pitcher. I got amputated from the photo.
"Hi. I'm Matt."
North Bay crew, Louis and Karen. Louis just had a liver transplant, so was off the sauce...
...Drugs and alcohol don't mix.
Ed after several beers and relating the story about the van. :-(
Jaybro; Stay focused man. (oops)
fattrad makes his case.
Matt tellin' it like it was "...And THAT was my shining moment in SuperTopo history..."
LuckyPink and I went out to the Albatross after that and fought the college students for popcorn. Back late, but what the hell, life is short.

Take two...Thanks for posting all of those pictures. Following up Jerry's pics, even if they're snapshots, is humbling...especially as I didn't reserve my opinions on lame pictures last night. Actually, right now I'm having this fear that a picture that I described as especially lame might have actually been his...although I generally think his pictures are gorgeous. Oh no! There is no delete key!
Did Lewis really have a liver transplant? Best wishes with all of that. Has he met Stacey? www.windsongfoundation.org. She used to coach the youth climbing team at Twisters gym and has had a double lung transplant. She's got a bit of a network of transplant survivor climbers and outdoorsfolk, I think.
Here's my photo TR.
Spyork was the first person that I met at the gym. He needed to get belay-legal as did most of the others when they arrived. Shortly after Spyork came, Ed, Jaybro, and Phil_B arrived.
A was psyched about the zillion new boulder problems set in honor of April 20th, but the Festers donned their harnesses and raised an eyebrow at me.
The cracks were the first order of business. Actually, they were pretty much the only order of business, as there was only time for one face route a piece after we were done playing with the cracks.
Here are Phil_B, Ed, and Fatrad having a little visit:
JayBro looks strong on the overhang. Check out his sending shoes!
I think Spyork grabbed my camera for this one:
I told Ed that I'd post that this was a picture of him feeling pretty bushed after sending one of the gyms 5.13's. ;-) (I think it's a cute picture.)
And here's a close up of Ed's special SushiFest shirt. As fun as gym night was, I wish he was getting to show you folks in Utah.

Act II...Pyramid Brew house.
Actually, there was an intermission. AlexC, one of my earliest climbing partners who I haven't seen since he returned to the Bay Area many moons ago now, arrived at close to caravan over to Pyramid w/ us.
We carpooled, so he came w/ me. I just wanted to stop by my house to check on my sick kitty. I got lost on my way home, and I got lost on my way to Pyramid. I live in Berkeley, and was not under the influence of anything other than my own tendancy to talk too much and pay too little attention. He declined to ride back with me at the end of the night. Probably a smart move since I missed my turn on the way home too. :-( (Note to future partners: Don't let me take the lead on the trail.)
The N. Bay crew awaited us at Pyramid, and Matt, Susan, and Slobmoster showed up later.
Here are Jays Wood and Bro and Lucky Pink:
I too was not quick enough to capture the breif moment of obligatory physical affection that passed between Matt and Fattrad. Here's Matt and Jeff sharing the love though.
This is kind of like a picture of EdBro, but actually it's a picture of the rad contraption that my frites a la mayonaise came in.
We didn't get a proper group photo. These shots down the table are the closest we got:

Well, first off: I am not or at least will not admit to being Maddog. I can be a hungry dog, but that's just a matter of circumstance.
Secondly: what a blast! Great bunch of people rescued me from the most boring party I have ever been to. I'll take climbers over just about anybody, any day.
Politics, beer, adventure sports. Add belly dancing and you got a perfect night.

Fattrad...I eat whatever kind of junk I crave. I just don't eat it all at once. Being vegetarian helps. For every time that the only veg thing on the meny is the fries, there are ten times when your only option is the salad.
