Has anyone actually been there? Is it worth the walk? Any pics?

The rock formations started to look really cool at about 1.75 miles but we turned back owing to it seemed like a hell of a long way and it was getting dark.

I did it with my girlfriend a few years ago. I remember it being worth it, although it did seem longer/take longer than expected. I have no idea where the photos are at.

I remember it being a fun hike though, and the oasis was neat, a cleft with a bunch of palms and standing water.

On the way in, we diverted a little bit to climb Mastodon Peak, (about 1/4 mile out of the way?) which was cool. Easy summit romp, and some good views of the Park, and down to Salton Sea.
