garth brookes "the dance" love this song!!!

"our lives are better left to chance; i could've missed the pain but i'dve had to miss the dance"

carolyn - you're not the only one!!! i LOVe bob wills. i have some of his albums... i fist discovered his music a few years ago at a library basement sale... and it turned out that some of his stuff was also in my dad's music collection so i explored it a little.

anastasia - big ups on the loreena mckennit... "night ride across the caucasus" from "the book of secrets" is one of my favorite songs... i also like her rendition of "she moved through the fair"

wow when i started typing this i was listening to garth brooks then i decided to put on "the book of secrets" :)

edit "marco polo" is playing now... the rythyms in this song intrigue me... makes me want to go travel the silk road :)

double edit: i think she used real sufi rythms in some of these songs

triple duh edit: i was going to go to a drum circle last night but i forgot! :(

We're jammin', we're jammin', we're jammin', we're jammin';
Hope you like jammin', too.
We're jammin', we're jammin' (jammin'),
We're jammin', we're jammin' (jammin').
I wanna (I wanna jam it wid you) - I wanna -
I wanna jam wid you now.
Jammin', jammin' (hope you like jammin' too).
Eh-eh! I hope you like jammin', I hope you like jammin',

Goddess Of Love - lyrics

Marilyn says I got nothing to wear tonight
Only a pair of diamond earrings that catch the light
Platinum blonde--is it true that you have more fun
Siberia--now I'm sad and all alone

Goddess of love
I can't go on without you--oh I want you
Goddess of love
Nobody cares like I do--what can I do?

Marilyn says all the best things in life are free
Speaking of friends, will you spend a little time with me?
Walking alone down the cold wet boulevard
Siberia--is the beating of your heart

Goddess of love
You make it hard to work out--when you want out
Goddess of love
You twist and tear my heart out--when you walk out
Never a day goes by
When I don't cry

Maybe I'll find a way--living from day to day
Look what you done tonight--Niagara Falls tonight

Goddess of love
I can't go on without you--oh I want you
Goddess of love
Nobody cares like I do--what can I do?
Never a day goes by
When I don't cry

Nowhere special
Apr 14, 2007 - 11:31pm PT
not listening to it right now, but it came up on my ipod on the way to the crag today. I was leading a thin corner in eldo which felt much harder than the grade and had some... thin... gear. Suddenly "Anna Begins" by the Counting Crows popped into my head from the ride in. I'm not a big Counting Crows fan, so I didn't know all the words, but this was cycling through my head:

"My friend assures me its all or nothing
I am not worried- I am not overly concerned
My friend implores me for one time only,
Make an exception. I am not not worried...

My friend assures me its all or nothing`
But I am not really worried
I am not overly concerned
You try to tell your self the things you try tell your self to make
Yourself forget
To make your self forget
I am not worried

I am not worried
Ive done this sort of thing before
But then I start to think about the consequences"

any jumble of those lyrics at any point. Worst part was that I very slowly and methodically worked through the thin sections only to f*ck up some footwork at the very last moves on the hard section and blew it. Fortunately I blew it with a pin at eye level I had just clipped. But man, after putting my belayer to sleep for about an hour creeping up this corner and then blowing it... ouch, blunt trauma to the ego. Consolation prize was the 2nd pitch was cool and not nearly as stressful.

Lets have a War by Fear- I am sure it is Big Dick's theme song.

[Growling]
There's so many of us
There's so many of us
There's so many
There's so many of us
There's so many of us
There's so many [x2]

[Sung]
Let's have a war
So you can go and die!
Let's have a war!
We could all use the money!
Let's have a war!
We need the space!
Let's have a war!
Clean out this place!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

[Chorus]

Let's have a war!
Jack up the Dow Jones!
Let's have a war!
It can start in New Jersey!
Let's have a war!
Blame it on the middle-class!
Let's have a war!
We're like rats in a cage!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

Let's have a war!
Sell the rights to the networks!
Let's have a war!
Let our wallets get fat like last time!
Let's have a war!
Give guns to the queers!
Let's have a war!
The enemy's within!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

this is the point from which i could never retreat

Thanks, I'll look that up. Neil's Crazy Horse LP was one of those "soundtrack of our lives" type things. I guess everybody has those? You could not walk down any street in Isla Vista in fall 1969, without hearing that played loud.

*Live at Massey Hall 1977.* "

Uhhhh....most of those songs he played were new songs before he put out 'Harvest', so that places the recording date in January 1971, not 1977

I grew up listening and going to see Neil in concert with my parents, starting at the tender age of 5. Any more Neil trivia?

And, yes, the 'Live At Massey Hall' is one of the best live shows I've heard. Starting with this one....

ON THE WAY HOME

When the dream came
I held my breath with my eyes closed
I went insane,
Like a smoke ring day
When the wind blows
Now I won't be back till later on
If I do come back at all
But you know me, and I miss you now.

In a strange game
I saw myself as you knew me
When the change came,
And you had a
Chance to see through me
Though the other side is just the same
You can tell my dream is real
Because I love you, can you see me now.

Though we rush ahead to save our time
We are only what we feel
And I love you, can you feel it now.

"Down Rodeo"

Off the excellent "Evil Empire" Album, from one of the more seminal bands of recent decades...

Yeah I'm rollin' down Rodeo wit a shotgun
These people ain't seen a brown skin man
Since their grandparents bought one

So now I'm rollin' down Rodeo wit a shotgun
These people ain't seen a brown skin man
Since their grandparents bought one

So now I'm rollin' down Rodeo wit a shotgun

Bangin' this bolo tight on this solo flight can't fight alone
Funk tha track my verbs fly like tha family stone
Tha pen devils set that stage for tha war at home
Locked wit out a wage ya standin' in tha drop zone
The clockers born starin' at an empty plate
Momma's torn hands cover her sunken face
We hungry but them belly full
The structure is set ya neva change it with a ballot pull
In tha ruins there's a network for tha toxic rock
School yard ta precinct, suburb ta project block
Bosses broke south for new flesh and a factory floor
The remains left chained to the powder war

Can't waste a day when the night brings a hearse
So make a move and plead the fifth 'cause ya can't plead the first
Can't waste a day when the night brings a hearse
So now I'm rollin' down Rodeo wit a shotgun
These people ain't seen a brown skin man
Since their grandparents bought one

Yes I'm rollin' down Rodeo wit a shotgun
These people ain't seen a brown skin man
Since their grandparents bought one

So now I'm rollin' down Rodeo wit a shotgun

Bare witness to tha sickest shot while suckas get romantic
They ain't gonna send us campin' like they did my man Fred Hampton
Still we lampin' still clockin' dirt for our sweat
A ballots dead so a bullet's what I get
A thousand years they had tha tools
We should be takin' 'em
F*#k tha G-ride I want the machines that are makin' em
Our target straight wit a room full of armed pawn to
Off tha kings out tha west side at dawn

Can't waste a day when the night brings a hearse
Make a move and plead the fifth 'cause ya can't plead the first
Can't waste a day when the night brings a hearse
So now I'm rollin' down Rodeo wit a shotgun
These people ain't seen a brown skin man
Since their grandparents bought one

Yeah I'm rollin' down Rodeo wit a shotgun
These people ain't seen a brown skin man
Since their grandparents bought one

Yeah I'm rollin' down Rodeo wit a shotgun

The rungs torn from the ladder can't reach the tumour
One god, one market, one truth, one consumer

She was just there, but then she can't be here no more

She's been down in the dunes and she's dealt with the goons
Now she drinks from the bitter cup, I'm trying to get her to give it up
She was just here, I fear she can't be here no more
And as my mind unweaves, I feel the freeze down in my knees
But just before she leaves, she receives

Now I'm coldly fading fast, I don't think I'm gonna last
Very much longer

"She's stoned" said the Swede, and the moon calf agreed
I'm like a viper in shock with my eyes in the clock
She was just there somewhere and here I am again
And as my mind unweaves, I feel the freeze down in my knees

Charley horsing right now, lower right leg, have been most of the night last night.
Drinking lots of water. It's really annoying, but I probably should go walk it out.
In France, Charley Horse is referred to as a crampe (cramp) or, if the muscle is torn, as claquage.
