Hi Anne-Marie,
Hey everyone, Anne-Marie, one of the early female climbers in the Valley, and I were friends in the wonderful days of Camp 4 in the early 70s. Here is a mysterious picture of the two of us, modeling opposite extremes of hair.
I have now idea why Anne-Marie had no hair. But if I remember correctly, she had no idea why mine was so unruly.
Glad to 'see' you, Anne-Marie
All the best, Roger
PS: Special thanks for Anders for his excellent 'idiots guide to posting photos' post.

This has always been one of my favorite pics, due to the juxtaposition of our haircuts, and because we both look so happy!
Chuck Pratt was party to my head shaving. He was horrified that I would shave my waist-length hair to match his partially bald head. But he did the final shave.

Welcome Anne!
I hope you will visit us often. Especially on days like this when my only outlet is the internet. (I am stuck home nursing a bad knee.)
Smiles,

Well, this may add to the welcome. From Mountain 37, July 1974.
The article caused a bit of fuss at the time, mostly from people who thought climbers should pretend they didn't ever swear, and other grumpy old farts. It was reprinted in "The Games Climbers Play" in 1978, which speaks for itself.
(If it doesn't fit, or shouldn't be here because Ken W will zap me, let me know and I'll remove it.)

Welcome Anne-Marie! Great to see you here. I am now awash with memories of the great women climbers I had the pleasure of conversing with back then, (and friends of climbers, Hey Nita!) i sure would like to find KB. Do you have hair now? :)

Anne-Marie - "Five years have passed; five summers, with the length of five long winters!"
It's been more than five but it's good to hear from you.

Thanks to those who have posted and have emailed me privately.
I got caught up in lurking here about a year ago, after someone's death.
We lost alot of old friends in 2006 (and nearly lost a few more, eh Bachar?).
After every death, there were long posts in tribute to the person. I'd like to see more tributes to the living. Let me review some post history and I will start one off.

To this point I have known you only through the Half Dome piece, which though I was perhaps 8 years old when it was published I reread only last week. It's in a stack of old magazines I keep in the living room
Is there something about that formation which encourages unusually candid writing about clashes with partners?
