So I have some tube chocks if anyone wants them. Not asking for cash. You pay postage. If you re-sell them on ebay I want a cut, but would rather they go to collectors.

First dibs won't cut it here; want to know the person that receives them want them for intrinsic value.

I need more cow bell.

Pretty much all they where good for. Those suckers like to lift out as you moved past them unless set with a hammer. Same as titons.

What if I wanted to use them on Excalibur supplating cams? I figure with that collection + some wood blocks would add some real spice to wide cracks once again.

A rack of all Tube Chock sizes for free? Good man JohnTP. The price is right but I wouldn't consider myself a collector as I'm simply more of a hoarder so I'm out (ie, that's why I clicked on the link and I already have most of a set that rarely get used). Where Roots, Stephan and Marty? Marty most likely has 4 different versions, all better looking than yours:-)

Good luck on the ....."sale"?.....gifting.

Hello -

I collect vintage Chouinard and and Forrest gear - I am definitely interested in your Tube chocks as I currently only have a #6...

Thanks!

Sent to Mighty Hiker.

Hi John - I'm late to the party but I could use a #5 Tube Chock that has the notched side.

Very generous of you to offers these!

I held a couple back (doubles). I could spare a number 5, but it is not notched. Let me know if you want it Roots.

neebster: the thread title is because I'm downsizing my stash of gear. I'd rather get it to friends than profit from it. Used to have a lot more but a haulbag full of old school gear got lost in a move.

I can also spare a number 4 (notched) to the first dibber.

Roots: I'm not sure if the #5 I sent to Mighty Hiker is notched or not. If it is and is going to be turned into a wind chime I'm sure it could be sent your way.

hey there, say, johntp... awww, i figured that out, pretty quick, :)

say, i like everyone's comment as to the windchimes, too...

:)

i've been 'sorting out' things around here, too...
some to give away, but, a lot that is just 'stuff from when the grandkids were here' ... just scraps from crafts that are not big enough...

out with the old, to stay neater and make room-or-use, of the good...

:)

so i can sure understand...

If anyone can spare a tube I'd love to have one......don't really care what size. I have a small collection of old Chouinard stuff but no tubes!

Six tube chocks arrived yesterday, courtesy of John, one of StupidTopo's real gentlemen. Proving that nice people live in Arkansas. Canada Customs and Canada Post took their time, though.

(Some may remember that a few years ago, he sent a copy of the famous Sheridan Anderson calendar for 1973, in Summit, for Tami.)

Here they are, although not yet at their final destination.

Oddly, a plumbing problem developed in the last few days, but I don't think that these will help with it.

Thinning the Herd. I was hunting around on Supertopo for where to post this, didn't feel like making it's own thread. Thinning the Herd seems about right.

https://www.climbing.com/skills/learn-this-the-12-point-trad-anchor-rubric/

So are there legions of climbers out there ready to jump on me because my anchor is only 11 points? Doesn't the blue camalot get extra points? How many points do you get when you girth-hitch grass? (trick question- depends whether it is dry or dew-covered). Do you get 4 points for belaying off your harness if you don't really have a ledge but the thigh-jam is pretty good? Discuss.
