I went to Georgia and Armenia three years ago. I rock climbed in Armenia and soloed a really fun moderate ice route on 5,000 meter Kazbek that went up immediately behind the large stone refugio to the summit.
Georgia is a beautiful country with friendly people and really fabulous food and wine.
The earliest archeological evidence of wine grapes have been found in sites in Georgia dating back to 6,000 BC...and they have been going at it ever since.

One must be rather circumspect there at least as far as various beverages are concerned.
The native brandy is eminently fit for pyrotechnics yet the champagne is surprisingly benign.

Its very cheap to get here, especially from western europe. In Chiatura marijuana has been legalized so you can smoke it to get high at home or outside, wherever you want...

Melvud...the reality is that most climbers in the US, if they travel for sports climbing, will go to France, Italy, Spain, Thailand or Greece. Georgia is a wonderful country which should be sold on it’s numerous assets in addition to sports climbing....physical beauty, wonderful wine and food and the Caucasus Mountains to name a few.
I am writing this from a terminal at the Dallas airport where I am waiting to board a plane for New Zealand. NZ has sport climbing too but I am going there mainly for it’s other qualities and I will surely do more pack rafting than sport climbing.
Post some pictures of Tiblisi, the Caucasus and, don’t forget, the beautiful women. I loved Georgia and it’s on my short list for a return visit.

One rest day while in the Baksan Valley on a climb of Elbruz, I went on a long hike over a pass into Georgia. The mountains were spectacular, and the people met along the trail were friendly. The brandy was cheap, and very strong.
Someday I would love to go back and explore the country, perhaps sample the climbing

Hi Melvud!
Could you please provide routes information? How many routes? How many Fr 6, Fr 7a/7a+, Fr 7b/7b+, Fr 7c/7c+, Fr 8a/8a+, Fr 8b/8b+, Fr 8c and harder? What is the best season to visit there? Is the Chiatura year-round destination?
I am pretty sure food and wine there are at least awesome because there is no such a thing as less than awesome Georgian food and wine (especially Mtsvane... yummmmm).

I have discovered some info.
Chiatura, ჭიათურა
One 7b+/7c (5.12c/d) TR, 30m
One 6b+ (5.10d) TR, 20m
Ten Fr 6 (5.9..5.11c) lead routes, most of them are about 25m
Four Fr 5b..5c (5.7..5.8) lead routes 12m to 30m
There is another crag nearby. Chaitura, Katskhi, ჭიათურა. კაცხის
Most routes are 10 to 15 meters long. Mostly Fr 6b..7a (5.10b/c..5.11d). One nice looking 7c (5.12d), 13m (overhanging, bouldery). And some Fr 5 climbs.
Source: https://allclimb.com/guides/en/ Not sure whether the guide covers all routes available or not.

The guide doesn't cover all routes. But I can guide you in this locations. there are much more rocks.
My village is above a huge rock. It takes me 5 minutes to get there from downtown.
unfortunately the government doesn't give it a relevant attention.

Hi Mevlud, I'll be visiting your country in January, very much looking forward to it! While I'm not going there for a climbing vacation, (mostly sightseeing, cultural immersion, etc) I'd love to get out for a day and check out the local climbing scene. It would be great to have some local guidance. Feel free to contact me via email climbingrn @gmail. com

Hey Mudluv, how much is the chamber of commerce paying you to troll American websites for tourists?
