thanks for posting Bruce... some good stuff in that interview...

ironically, was sad to have happened to notice a week or so ago that at some point she decided to commit supertopocide... sad, because she was one of the good ones that helped to make this board worthwhile... and so in case she doesn’t change her mind:

so long and thanks for all the supertopo fish over the years, lady.

Tami had her account and posts deleted after some as#@&%e stalked her on the forum and bashed her continuously. Unfortunately deleted the email telling me who it was that ran her off, or I'd call out the bastard.

I wish that she would have spoken up instead of just bailing. Out the person.

Sounds to me like people are just tired of trolls. I'm about at that point. Ignoring them doesn't work. There are just too many of them.

Big difference between a troll and a stalker. A troll I’ll stop to enjoy,
a stalker I’ll back up to make sure I ran over him properly the first time.

I don't believe that in normal circumstances a stalker could get to Tami. She would chew them up and spit them out. Social media isn't normal circumstances, or at least it hasn't been up until a few years ago. There is an air of negatively/bullsh#t, which I call trollish behavior, that social media gives power to that seems to be growing. A person gets tired of dealing with it.

It doesn't surprise me that people are leaving under those circumstances. I just wish that there was a way to turn it around.

in real life people's trollish behavior is tamped down or they aren't allowed at the campfire.

Edit:

by the way Tami, if you are reading. " Avalanche poodles" is one of the funniest concepts that I have ever heard.

She's interesting. Horrible interviewer, though. Tami held the entire conversation on her own by retelling anecdotes and stories she's probably repeated 1000x. Kalous should get her on his show - at least he comes up with questions to ask, usually pretty good ones.

I too miss Tami's comments and humour !

The "stalker" who helped her drop the Taco is still posting here. I've lost the respect I once had for this prominent climber.

Who is that directed at?

I deleted my earlier posts as they took thread drift a bit to far down a dark road.

No idea, whoever kunlun shan was referring to who chased her off the forum. I don't know what was deleted or what that has to do with it. People on this forum can be especially mean, particularly when anonymous.

Tami's departure from this forum bums me out tremendously. It's a double whammy. Her totally wonderful contributions are missing, and the fact that she was creeped off the site. I haven't met her in person, but based on all evidence, that woman is no hothouse flower. I would say that I hope she's lurking, but I don't think I can wish that on someone I admire.

I will check out the podcast.

No idea, whoever kunlun shan was referring to who chased her off the forum.

I heard from Tami back in June that she was being harassed on the forum, and was amazed that the culprit is someone she has known for close to 40 years.

Some weird things happen when people post online. Can't we all just get along!

edit:

vvvv the "culprit" is someone she knows in real life... starting long before Al Gore's invention....

WHAT!
I mean ... WTF: over!

No more Tami Whammy on the forum? This is highly irregular and TOTAL BS.
We need that feisty firecracker here. NEED.

Oh well. Best thing we can do is hang the skull and cross bones at half-mast for a spell…
And … AND … Get real pissed off for a stretch. Maybe break some (cheep) glassware … You know, let it all out.

And then, THEN: I recommend everyone ... every last f*#king one of us stop posting for a full two weeks in protest, and in honor of our fallen heroine.
Did I spell that right? She is like one of those good drugs that make you giddy and laugh deep into the night.

I liked the podcast!
Especially her opener:
I don't believe in those old-school/new-school paradigms, because I think it it pops people into ugly little boxes. I think there's a fluidity in the climbing movement that goes back to oog & erg playing around by the campfire when they had, you know, filled up on mammoth meat …

OMG! Does she go by another name Paula Poundstone???

If you don’t know who she is, no need to Google. The resemblance is in the way of speaking anyway. (Example)

I enjoyed the interview even though I didn’t know who she was prior. Afterwards, I felt like apologizing for not having known who she was.
