Un-freakin-believable display of treason today.

I'm 60...and I've never seen its match. Seen plenty of other crappy stuff, but this one is for the history books.

At this point, it's on the GOP. Trump has shown himself to be who we saw today time and time again. And while it is still shocking to see it in real time, we saw Trump be Trump. It's up to the GOP to stand up on behalf of the country--if they could just locate their misplaced spines...

"Now where do I put those vertebae...?" (Probably the same place they set aside their souls.)

Putin loves me, this I know,

Narrcistic ones to him belong;

Yes, Putin loves me! Yes, Putin loves me!

Sorry Jody, nobody is going to remember your boring over saturated landscape shots. Even though some folks politely complement them because ... meh ... you wouldn't understand why

I don’t agree with Jody’s politics, and what he shares here seems to epitomize the scourge of parochial fear that is driving “conservatives.” As for “liberals”- I wish people got more fired up about campaign finance reform, anti-gerrymandering laws, and enshrining the supremacy of human rights over corporate rights.

That said, I’ll remember Jody’s landscape shots. They show he has an eye for beauty in nature, something I thought we all shared in common. It’s not a unique gift, but it is something that gives a lot of folks happy moments enjoying those scenes vicariously and remembering our own beautiful moments communing with the world around us away from a screen.

I thought the clouds and the lighting in them were pretty exquisite in the most recent shots... but we each see what we want to see, message more or less colored by the messenger.

America is becoming the world’s biggest pushover.

After his meeting with Putin, Trump had a look on his face that I’ve seen before. I’m guessing that look was due to having his leash yanked very, very, hard by the guy who has played him for a fool.

He had that same look the night the election results were announced. When he realized that he was going to be performing tricks on the world stage as the lap dog of Putin, he was justifiably scared.

He had that same look after his one-on-one with Obama in the Oval Office before he took power. I can’t imagine what was said, but he was clearly scared.

I feel sorry for Trump. When he smiles it’s almost always masking pain or something twisted. The only time I can remember him smiling from the heart was the day he met with the Russians in the Oval Office. It must be very sad to be that confused.

You just have to remember that Jody is a man without morals.

He takes kids to meet another man without morals, Cruz, and makes him out to be a moral leader. Jody makes a big deal out of Cruz repudiating Trump, after Trump slimes Cruz's father.

A few weeks go by, then Cruz gets down on his knees and sings the Trump song.....and for protecting his father, Cruz gets placed on Trump's "do not touch" list.

Trump doesn't forget. Would that Jody had that attribute. You can see him throwing his own children under the bus, if convenient.

The important thing is that the markets have done pretty well recently
The economy had been clawing its way back from 2008 for the last 8 years, and was strong in the first year of Trump. A rule of thumb is you save the big spending bills (and deficit spending) for when you need to prime the economic pump.

We just primed a pump that did not need priming. It makes Trump look good in the short term, spending money he does not have, but the bill will come due eventually. After he leaves office. As he always does.

The natural order of our constitutional universe is that the Legislative is in tension with the Executive. The founding fathers never contemplated in the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence how partisanship and political parties would subvert that, to the point that you have Devin Nunes acting as a mole in the legislative for the Trump Whitehouse.

Hillary in the WH would have pitted the legislative against the executive, as it was meant to be in the Constitution.

WASHINGTON — President Trump said on Wednesday that Russia was no longer targeting the United States, contradicting his own intelligence chief and just a day after promising that his administration was working to prevent Kremlin interference in the upcoming midterm elections.

Mr. Trump’s comments were the latest in a dizzying collection of conflicting statements from Mr. Trump since he emerged from a private meeting with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia on Monday in Helsinki, Finland. And they directly contradict assertions from Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, who has repeatedly said that Russia continues to try to interfere with American democracy.

Isn't his first job to protect the country?

The drooling idiots calling this treason are literally shitting themselves because what the hysteria is about is that liberalism has been dealt a body blow with Trumps ability to pick supreme court justices.

I have no problem with this as to the victor goes the spoils and I put that on progressives, not trump. Treason as a basis for impeachment should be based on actualizing his white nationalist agenda as a public officeholder and his rapprochement with Russia.

Other grounds for impeachment are his attacks on the fourth estate, endless baldfaced lies on official matters, and his defense of radical rightwing groups.

Mueller will take care of it all I suspect given he has on staff the nations top expert on executive privilege, several top forensic accounting folks, a seasoned white-collar crime expert, an organized crime specialist, solid tax folks, and one of the best cyber-crime federal prosecutors and his staff.

That is funny, right there,Couch. You really believe he will win another term.

Alternative reality.

Since he has not shown his taxes,he may not be allowed to even run in a few states.

But in all honesty,if the neoliberals get their way and run Biden or Pelosi or (insert corporate liberal here) he will.

Other grounds for impeachment are his attacks on the fourth estate, endless baldfaced lies on official matters, and his defense of radical rightwing groups.

Love this new world you've imagined, Joe! Where criticizing "the fourth estate" is a crime--their poor behavior notwithstanding. Was Obama in jeopardy when he did the same? E.g. spied on reporters, demanded administration 'observers' attend editing sessions, handed down false indictments against James Rosen, etc., etc., etc.

Can the President still criticize/talk down to the Supreme Court, like, during the State of the Union Address? Can he still complain about Congress? All crimes in your universe?

Baldface lies on official matters? Like "you can keep your plan and your doctor?"

Finally, criticizing ANTIFA is not tantamount to defending nut-jobs.

All that said, I'll repeat that Trump should be censured for this last fiasco. Even if there are valid "interpretations" of what he said in public and/or private, a clear message is in order. At the very least, he's 'winging it' with a nuclear-armed adversary. He has to stay on script.

I've always said Trump is a reincarnation of Andrew Jackson. Let him join #7 in the "censured" column.

This is not correct. The Antifa has a long history that goes back to Italy and Germany in the 30's. In the US they gained notoriety for coming out as a direct opposition to the skin head movement and for driving the skinhead movement out of Minneapolis. In the US the Baldies are what put the Anitfa movement on the map. It started as exactly what the name states, opposition to Fascism.

The history of the Anitifa is not all good but it definitely is not all bad.

That's interesting Ground Chuck and it jives with what I see on the job sites in terms of voter sentiment. Their strategies related to changing traditional views of the electorate is what really raises some troubling questions.

They have managed to increase the favorable ratings of Putin and Russia amongst Republican voters by double digits. Why is Rand Paul speaking on the floor defending Russia? What does Fox News have to gain by the advancement of Trump's Russia policy? How in the world does Trump get away with tearing down Nato while a deafening silence comes from his Cabinet. Doesn't it seem odd that Trump would start trade wars with our closest trading partners while traditional free traders in Congress do nothing? Who are we talking about when we refer to "they" and "their"?

A war is waging in the Republican party, and what's most shocking- the traditionalists are loosing to a nefarious cadre that has been cobbled together from Nationalists, Corporatists, Freedom Party activist, Zionists and foreign oligarchs. They have a multifaceted end game and beyond all reason, they are winning. If you're a giddy supporter, forget about the victory pary because in the end, you were noting more than a dull tool they manipulated to scare Red State Congressmen. They actually despise you most of all and I guarantee you Trump and his staff all scrub down after those MAGA rallies.

Fritz probably needs a story to calm down.

My last crack bender was three years ago and when i smoke crack i like to really go the distance. i checked into a hotel with two cases of beer, a bottle tequila, 6 or 7 packs packs of cigarettes, a couple of lighters, about an ounce of crack, two pipes, a handful of porn mags and a bottle of baby oil.

i rolled my suitcase into the elevator. right as the door was closing i realized that i'd forgotten something and jumped through the door. i hurried back to the front desk.

"i dont want any phone calls. also, can you make sure that the porn is not blocked on the tv.?"

the girl at the front desk looked at me like i was creep. she was right.

up the elevator, down the hall and into my room. i rushed inside, set everything out on the table and selected the 24 hour all-you-can-eat porn. it came on in the middle of anal juggernauts 12. there is nothing like that first hit of crack. i wish i could feel like that forever.

so for more than 24 hours i smoked crack, watched porn and drank tequila. i selected the 24 hour porn buffet again. more crack. more baby oil. as i'm jacking off i hear what sounds like the bed squeaking in the room next to me so i get up to investigate and press my ear up against the wall. it IS the bed squeaking, and this couple is going to town. this is great. this is better than tv porn so i grab the tequila with my free hand.

this guy is really giving her the business. her moaning gets louder and faster. they keep going and keep going. she is getting just pounded and i'm really into it. moaning and squeaking. moaning and squeaking. this goes on for a while and i'm loving it. this guy is my hero. i can't believe he is lasting this long. when they're done i'm going to go next door and shake his hand.

after what seemed like 30 or 40 minutes they're still going but i'm exhausted and sit down in the chair to rest. i notice that i've gotten baby oil all over the wall. the hotel is probably going to charge me for that. so as i'm catching my breath i notice that they're starting to wind down in the next room. my breathing slows as they slow down and vice versa. suddenly i realize, there is no one having sex in the next room. the moaning was me. the squeaking was just my nose whistling.

It includes criticism of the recent US administrations

By the mid-1970s I was serving as Sakharov’s spokesman, and I remember after yet another friend of ours had been sentenced to prison, he told me: “They want us to believe there’s no chance of success. But whether or not there’s hope for change is not the question. If you want to be a free person, you don’t stand up for human rights because it will work, but because it is right. But not everything is relative; we should not slip into collective amnesia over the Obama administration’s weak and underwhelming response to Russian aggression. Throughout his presidency, Obama consistently underestimated the challenge posed by Putin’s regime. His foreign policy was firmly grounded in the premise that Russia was not a national security threat to the United States. In 2012, Obama disparaged Mitt Romney for exaggerating the Russian threat—“the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because the Cold War’s been over for 20 years,” Obama quipped. This breezy attitude prevailed even as Russia annexed Crimea, invaded eastern Ukraine, intervened in Syria, and hacked the Clinton campaign and the DNC. Obama’s response during these critical moments was cautious at best, and deeply misguided at worst. Even the imposition of sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine was accompanied by so much propitiation and restraint elsewhere that it didn’t deter Russia from subsequent aggression, including the risky 2016 influence operation in the United States. Obama, confident that history was on America’s side, for the duration of his time in office underestimated the damaging impact Russia could achieve through asymmetric means.

Obama’s cautious Russia policy is grounded in three conceptual errors: a failure to grasp the true nature of the Russian threat, most clearly visible in his administration’s restrained response to Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014; a “long view” of historical trends which in his view inexorably “bent” toward liberalism; and the perception that formidable domestic political obstacles stood in his way when it came to crafting a response to Putin’s assault on the elections in 2016.

The discourse here is so civil and uplifting, a truly intellectual discussion. But, it's really simply a circumlocutory and pleonastic circle of oratorical sonorosity circumscribing an atom of ideality lost in its verbal profundity.

It really is.

ignore Skippy, he is desperately trying to deflect attention away from the current President

so the only thing he can do is try to create a conspiracy theory about a past President

the problem for Skip is that no one is buying it, except maybe his cousin Edward

Skip for banned, but he must have the same Supertopo password so they both post as Edward, who voted for Hillary, which must drive Skippy crazy, LOL

I wouldn't be shocked, but would expect his orders to be disregarded in some kind of Thank God SNAFU.

I might hope that his orders would be disregarded but I wouldn't go so far as to expect it.

National security advisor Bolton has a thirty years itch to take military action against Iran.

If Trump ordered them to prepare and then launch a missile strike, I think the military would.

GOP Senate Ethics Committee Declares "Mission Accomplished, Disbands Panel

The GOP head of the Senate, reading from a script, declared "these fake ethics complaints against our President have resulted in needless expense, as Mr. Trump is, by all measures the most highly ethics(sic) president since his incredible, historic, best-attended, most profitable inauguration."

As if to prove this point, Sen. McConnell threw a rubber chicken into the Democratic side of the aisle. "Let me put this whole thing into perspective. First off, what we want most is to be re-elected. So there's no truth to reckless Democratic claims that the GOP's primary motivation is racism, greed, destruction of the environment, subjugation of women, or establishment of a theocracy. Such talk is not only false; it is un-American! Subject to certain esthetic and health considerations, I stand behind President Trump!"

A problem with the bet from my perspective is that if Trump loses, the markets will probably tank, so then I'd lose both this bet (albeit a relatively trivial amount) and, more importantly, suffer from the market losses.

It would be more sensible for me to bet against Trump too; that way I'd have a hedge against the anticipated market decliness.

But instead of just harping about Trump losing (which remember you did famously last election too, practically begging anyone to take your bets against Trump--fortunately for you apparently no one did, or else you'd be too broke afford electricity to post on ST), why don't you say who you think will win--that's a more interesting question.

How anyone can defend the economic policies of this presidency is beyond me.

Now, he is pushing for a 25% tariff on auto imports.

Fooking bonkers, and Republicans know it but they are too gutless to do something about it. They all need to be voted out.

New stories are saying that Soy Bean farmers are already seeing big losses coming. And other farmers who export too. So much so that Trump is enacting a Depression era policy that will fund something like 12 Billion to help offset the losses.

But soybean segment alone already has losses of 16B......

Part of Trump's problem is that he is a legend in his own mind. I doubt it even occurred to him that the countries that he imposed tariffs on would retaliate with counteroffers. He's used to running a business where he says "jump," and the employees jump or lose their job. Doesn't realize he is not the boss of the world.

The stocks markets seem to like his policies. I expected these trade wars to tank the market. No dice. The markets grind upward.

Despite lousy home sales figures, the indices shrug it off.

Hey I didn't have any huge problems with Obama, except that the recovery was sluggish and the economy (as measured by the markets at least) could have done a lot better--as we're seeing now. (I did have some problems with the essential lawlessness of certain of his actions, such as institutionalizing his failure to enforce immigration laws. I also believed it was the president's job to enforce the laws because that's what the Constitution says, but I guess Obama and his fanboys weren't too concerned about that.)

These trade wars don't seem to be helping things, but we're all expecting this is just a bit of bluster and should blow over.

The corporate tax cuts were long overdue--pity that Obama was apparently so blinded by left wing ideology that he couldn't move forward with policies that would have done so much to help the sputtering economy.

Anyway, we seem to be on a better track now, hopefully we can ride it out for the rest of Trump's term and make lots more money. After that, who knows, could be ugly if the Sanders / Ocasio-Cortez faction take over.

Wit the economy doing well, we passed more tax cuts and increased the deficit, basically spending our "rainy day" funds usually waiting for when the economy does poorly. The bill will come due after Trump leaves, of course. Much like how he runs his businesses.
