After reading Katie Dowd's article, I wonder how many Harding stories will be assembled into this one ascent narrative.

Anyways, I think it's cool that this is happening.

If it's today's Hollywood then I imagine a couple of explosions, an ISIS attack, some lycra Super Heroes and at least one naked person.

Way fun! I hope they do well with it.

No matter how good it is I doubt it could be as good as the real life.

I recall in 1989, hearing through the walls of my tent, while attempting to sleep at camp 4, a mature woman, speaking to others at some late campfire, how Warren Harding was a great man and something about how sex with him was the best she ever had. This would make a good opening for a movie. Or maybe just a trailer.

Note: Since this site is the difinitive source on all things climbing and Warren. Suggestions made on this thread are likely to be seen by the people producing the film>

This could be good if done right. Casting will be a big factor.

Fossil Climber should get the call for technical adviser. If not him, then von Derryberry or Loyd.

Interesting. Haven't heard a word about it. Maybe they are doing all their research from the newspapers.

Wayne, you are so out of touch. Nobody "researches" any more, and if they did, it wouldn't be in newspapers.

Here's all the research you need to produce a movie about climbing...

A climbing movie with some potential! Climbing is a inherently boring subject for film. The saving grace of this movie will be the character development of an interesting, irascible subject.
Interesting to note that many of climbing’s most interesting characters have led self destructive lives.

Went to Bucks Bar ,Consumnes Gorge, to solo top rope & was invited by Warren to climb with him & friends. Told him a partner had recently been at Lovers Leap with a mate when a tall guy walked up & asked if he could climb with them ? The mate demanded to know what experience he had ? Since he was TM Herbert he had enough ! Warren laughed & said he had the same experience several times .

Second hand detailed story from Bob Harrington decades ago on how Batso "recruited" him to climb Keeler Needle. Word was he enticed him with a gallon of Christian Bros. on the way up to Iceberg. Dood was shytting his trousers on the FA of the Harding Route......since he'd never climbed before.

I asked Largo last week at the Robbins memorial who/when the "psychoanalysis" of American climbing found Warren to be the id and Royal the super-ego came about...

y'all remember your Freudian psychoanalysis...
I didn't, Largo corrected me in the identification with the super-ego (I erroneously had thought ego).

the rest of the climbing cast could essentially play the role of the ego, which mediates between the id and the super-ego... this is outlined in Downward Bound's Appendix with Warren's "Zone System" (he certainly had zingers for everyone, Ansel Adams included).

while overly simplistic, it captures the time
and is the basis of many of the videos currently circulating
getting you into the head of American climbing.

+1 w/Mike. LOL!

I'm with Dingus on his suggested "Warren". Downey could pull off Robbins. Not sure if they'll supplement the Iron Man costume (aka bolt puller) for the Dawn Wall section.
