A deep January Canadian Winter was in force over Banff, Alberta. The ice climbing was good and brittle. There was no escaping the fog, 25 below Celsius temperatures and snow. 1986, before the internet entertainment.
David Lindley and his band made a stop during the storm at the King Edward Hotel Bar. Gleeful madness ensued and everybody who was anybody was there. The band picked up on the cabin fever state of the crowd and played as fast as they could. Alpinists fresh off of modern North faces, extreme skiing fiends, staid mountain guides, artists, bereft nascent sport climbers and the usual party crowd all pulsed in dance to the hypnotic music from David's pedal slide guitar. For a while the band looked worried. What have we agreed too ?
