So what you are saying is that no one can charge their computers, run their blenders or air conditioners, and have to go to bed once the sun sets since not much lighting. In other words, a return to the natural world like it was before.

neebee,
thanks for posting this. I for one don't know what to do for now, sitting in my comfortable Seattle house. I've heard from disaster response people that a month or so from now, monetary contributions will be all the more valuable.

hey there, say, Darwin... it all makes you wish you COULD do something, but-- we can't...
still, we must at least let folks know that they need help...
:(
or-- if folks have family there, at least we can say, we are here
to help by listening... :(

In a good move, Trump waves the Jones Act to help the desperate people of Puerto Rico. Thank god, now we just need to send some basic necessities over. Like yesterday. It's not like we couldn't see this coming....

hey there say, all...
for those that have friends or loved one, in puerto rico...
here is an update... or, just as, us, as humans, may want to know...
http://www.cnn.com/2017/09/29/us/puerto-rico-recovery-updates/index.html
HERE IS A POST FROM A FRIEND:
a quote, that he shared:
Just got to listen to a bit of Science Friday and the discussion they were having about the difficulties they are having getting relief supplies to the people of Puerto Rico. Containers are stacking up at the docks. Here's some food for thought:
1-There are 3.5 Million people in Puerto Rico. 50% of them are without food, water, transportation or electricity.
2-For disaster planning, each person requires 5 kG of food, water, medicine and sundries per day.
3-That requires 1,400 semi truck trips each day.. That assumes that the roads are good. They're not.
4-Hurricane residents were told to have food and water and medicine for 72 hours. It's now been 9 nine days.
Think about that.
not sure, but, perhaps THIS article on HELP, may be able to do something?
http://www.npr.org/2017/09/23/553152889/puerto-rico-update-how-one-ngo-is-helping-the-island-rebuild-after-hurricane-mar
all we can do, is wait...
hope your family or friends, can get through this, to
any of you that know folks there...
and, if we don't...
praying that someone can help them...
:(

https://www.yahoo.com/news/nurse-volunteers-puerto-rico-fear-002615069.html
I have a friend who volunteered in Puerto Rico as a nurse and she agrees with this article. Its shameful our response to fellow americans. We spent years and over 100 billion dollars rebuilding New Orleans. Trump already wants to stop aid to Puerto Rico because they aren't saying how "great" Trump or the help is.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/31/politics/hurricane-harvey-recovery-money/index.html
Shame on America..
and yes.. even with limited funds I donated.
Edit: we have the resources to put up signs saying "call Fema or report online your need for help" in areas that don't have internet or phone services, but still can't get people the food or water that they need. That is just absurd.

Of course the death toll is much higher. What gov't official is going to give out numbers which might embarrass them for their callous response?
Did you know that, although Puerto Rico presently has a certain amount of local autonomy, according to the U.S. Constitution ultimate governance of the island is retained by both the U.S. Congress and President. Thus, the problem is the responsibility of BOTH, not just DT.
Puerto Rico is not allowed to have representatives in the House, nor is is allowed to have its two Senators.
PR is just sh!t out of luck. It's up to private individuals to bring/give aid.
I'm putting up what little I can. I hope you can do something because sittin' on your wallet ain't helpin'.
