I used to like the high heat in Redding. The trails were clear and it was always a bit quieter. Kind of like the silence of a cold winter day.

Now I am back to a humid hot and it sucks...

I had to wear a jacket in the morning

Typical June gloom, enhanced by climate change that warms the ocean, causing local low clouds that keep the area cooler than normal
The beaches are not that hot, as usual, yet

August may be warmer

One website said 122, and another said 127.

A high of 76 here today and the rivers are still swollen, summer sucks. These cool days allow for cooking indoors so it's not too bad.

oh, I remember it happening as a kid in Bako but the frequency is way up from what I am told...the funny thing is I remember a lot of days 105-110+ plus growing up and folks hardly blinked. Musta been the eastside Oakies/Mexicans that didn't give a damn.

Its not muggy here. Thankfully.. 121 today.. 88 now. I try to get my days chores done by 10 AM. When it doesn't get below 85, then you know its going to be a scorcher. Its pretty funny to me when I think 90 is cool, having lived in Yosemite for 25 years and thinking 90 was pretty hot.

Right on, Tad!

That Heceta Head Lighthouse has to be the most strikingly beautiful lighthouse anywhere. Most especially now after its recent restoration work.

I struck out again this year at Umpqua River Lighthouse. It's in a bit of a challenging spot for me - with a well-traveled road right in front of it. Nothing I can't overcome though, if I time it right conditions wise. I like that fleabag Winchester Bay Inn. No fridge in the room, but it's right across the street from a good bar with plenty of cold beer there.

The most dangerous and famous of 'em all - Longships Light on Carn Bras, Lands End, Cornwall. The first light was built in 1795. This one is physically almost the same as the 1869 iteration. Seeing it in these conditions, 4 miles vis/15-20kts gusting to 35, was a propos. It has the oddest foghorn I've ever heard.

On Thursday in City of Rocks, it was supposed to be in the 70s but the wind was blowing and it was icy climbing in the shade. We moved to the sun. The next day, on my was home, I pulled into St George, and the temp indicator on my car read 114. But it's a dry heat.
Seriously, I have been way more miserable in South Carolina in 90 degree heat than I was yesterday in St. George!
