Me; climb more and take a three week road trip in the western states. I hope to be able to visit some really, really off the beaten track ranges out there. Basically, lots of exploring.

What are yours?

Failed to get up El Cap for my first time 2 1/2 years ago due to a torn knee meniscus.

Haven't been climbing much in the past year but fully committed to doing Lurking Fear in Mid October with Mark Hudon.

I'm training thrice weekly. The goal is to rock climb in the gym Mondays, do cardio Wednesdays and wall sysytems one other day a week....bolt ladder laps, hauling practice, etc.

This Spring Macronut and I are going to try to climb The Column as a prequel to make sure I'm comfy up there and moving efficiently. Hudon and I are going to do a few pitches on Tangerine Trip one day in June as a little warm up sesh also. The stoke is high!

To lead more hard 5.10 face and slab by summer or later (and perhaps some easy, real easy 11s-- depending on my progress.)

Been hitting the gym frequently but gotta start some overall strength training at home.
Got my weight currently down to 157 lbs. but I'm targeting the low 150s

Training-wise trying to get my weight down but strength up.

My climbing goals were shattered last year.
My goal now is to hopefully be able to work 4 more years till I can retire.

I think you just need to re-adjust your climbing goals.

For instance, a climbing goal that is always on the top of my list is to be able to climb out of bed.

When that is going successfully, my redpoint project is to climb out of bed gracefully and without grimacing...

Rehabing from a ruptured patellar tendon. Making good progress, so first summertime goal is to bag another 14ner or two. Sill is on the hit list this summer. (Currently working on the dubious record of completing all the Cali 14ner's in the most time ever taken to climb them all.)

My big goal this year is Mt. Jordan. Sad, huh? And while we are there, bag Mt. Ericsson.

And hope to climb some at Josh. I'd like to try out my shoulder and see how it goes.

Trying to get in good enough cardio to maybe get up The Grand next summer

hey I'll tie in if you don't have a partner. my cardio usually sucks and probably will suck in summer too.

I drink too much, work too hard, climb weakly. But despite that I feel confident I can chicken-scratch up the Grand.

Bad

You haven't done that yet? It's fun. Really fun. So are the rest of the routes on it.

I got a trip coming up to do some climbing in Cochise the second week of March. It's my first out of state trip in a few years. So the big goal for this year is more out of state climbing. Which doesn't really make much sense since I live in Cali now. Fall will be a trip to the Gunks so my wife can finally see the place I learned taking 30 footers is normal. lol

Mostly just have fun and not get injured.

I think I will hit 1,000 routes at Pinnacles sometime in the next few weeks. That would be a lifetime total of 1,000 distinct routes done there in good style (redpoint or better unless the route only exists as a toprope, and there are a few of those).

Weather allowing, no injuries allowing and if I'm still alive (and I expect to be!).

I am really, really looking forward to more of the PCT with my daughters too.

Mostly just have fun and not get injured.

Wish for that every year. :) And no buyer's remorse. Go for intriguing lines accepting any outcome that allows a combination of challenge and acceptable level of risk.

Summit of Fitz Roy just got ticked off a few weeks ago, which I guess was one of the goals for 2017. For this trip the real goal is to climb things that can be climbed and learn. Rough season. Fitz had only about a dozen teams ascending to the top. The Cerro Torre has yet to see a summit supposedly this season. Kind of nuts, less than 2 weeks before the end of Feb.

Couple El caps and a couple new areas in Tahoe. We have one scoped out that you will paddle board into. The other one you will be able to link 5 cliffs together and do about 1800 feet of climbing over 12 pitches. Will post more info here as the areas are developed -

Would also like to figure out why there are not more routes on Shakespeare rock... the rock quality can't be THAT bad

OK, Fitzroy isn't on the list (so jealous), but mostly climb more regularly, not just a few times a season at Josh and the occasional session at Stoney. Trying to stay healthy too since tendonitis always seems to be nipping at my elbows.

Hit the Needles or something interesting in the Sierra at least once this summer.

Go backpacking with the kids in Tuolumne or Sierra.

A couple of bouldering trips to Bishop with the kids.

I'd love to get out enough to actually scrape off the rust and finally do Iron Cross at Suicide.

To go backpacking with my daughter after she graduates college in the Sierra, or maybe a June White Mtn. traverse. We shall see.

To stay healthy and recover while continuing to build strength in my core, shoulders, arms and fingers.

To climb things.

Watch Fat Dad get up Iron Cross.

For my 50th birthday 10 years ago I climbed 3 laps on Royal Arches (and 3 descents of North Dome Gully) plus 2 pitches on Swan Slab to make 50 pitches. Made it all in the daylight in late October.

This year I need to up it to 4 laps to get in 60 pitches. I looked at pre hanging 10 ropes off the rap route to facilitate 4 fast descents, but the logistics of getting 85 lbs of rope rigged and brought back down are enormous. I'm now thinking of losing 15 more lbs and getting back in the gym so that I can do 4 laps on NDG and still not be out there all night.

I've gotten in over 500 pitches soloing in the last few years. Hope to hit 1000 before I fold up the tent.
