JLP,
all already done or in progress.
AAC insurance only covers peaks under 6000m without a rider.

CNN just picked up the story.

Charlie's sister will be on Anderson-Cooper 360 tonight.

I've been trying to keep this on the front page but interest is waning.
CNN ran a brief story about 5 hours ago, and I haven't caught a repeat.
Maybe some editor thinks this one will "keep", but unfortunately the time to act is now.

I hate to sound cynical, but if they can't circle the news wagons, and get some sobbing family members, it just doesn't work for them.

They made a freaking circus out of it when I got caught in an avalanche and lost for four days, Thank God my parents refused to speak to the press.

I'm following this with great interest Ron, but there doesn't seem to be much new information.

Ron,
Interest is far from waning in the community that matters. The grapevine is buzzing over Charlie and Christine disappearance and hopefully the search fund is growing.
We need to remain optimistic, donate to the search fund then send an email to the US consulate to keep the pressure on local authorities.

And thank you Anderson Cooper for a surprisingly informative six minute spot including both a remarkable interview with Charlie's sister and inclusion of links for people to help.

Hi,
here in China people are quite involved as well - both foreigners and Chinese. It is difficult to localize where actually they went misssing and this is where all the efforts are directed towards at the moment.

Chinese climbers are assiting and the foreign climbing/trekking comunity here is prety active as well and some of us have been on stanby ready to go in a soon a we have a lead since last week.

A helicopter is a serious need and any help in this direction is welcome: info about availability, donations in the above mentioned fund, connections within China etc.

Ron, you might consider trying to drum up some support from the media which could lead to substantial support in the effort to find them. My mom called me yesterday to tell me about this (despite the fact I'd already mentioned your telling me, but she still thinks I "hike" every weekend), and she's a pretty good ballast for the effect of news.

Two days ago I walked into the local Cantina, The guys asked if I knew them and what happened. I just passed on what I have heard from Swelly and Ron.
Thanks for keeping this up there Ron,

Aloha,

I've tried with the local media, but I'm not very savvy about providing links etc. They didn't follow up apparently.

But that was before the CNN report and the report on Anderson Cooper 360. Maybe now they will.

I'm also caught in a tough spot having stuff sent to me that is clearly labelled as confidential and not for public release.

The best thing people can do is wire money for immediate search expenses.
The next best thing would be to pester the media for coverage.
Thanks everyone.

We've been trying to piece together some of Charlie and Chris' climbing objectives. As Charlie was in the habit of flying under the radar, this is no easy task, but you can see some of our findings here:

Fingers crossed they're hanging ten in a Chinese jail.

I've been calling friends and family to try to increase financial support. Maybe it's time for each of us to send out a blanket call to our e-mail address books. Money may yet prove to be a deciding factor in this, to aid in the search via air, etc.
