Someone start a GoFundMe for Cosmic. I'll help. I'll donate the proceeds from selling my son's climbing shoes sans shipping costs. I just don't want to make more landfill fill.

Ugh, very sorry to read this CoZmic.
You have been a stable force in the climbing community for many people, for a long time. For example, you opened your door to myself and Buggs back in 2012, showed us great hospitality, and showed us some great stuff at Red Rock.
I very much hope that this will all work out for you medically, and otherwise.
Of course, now that we're about to be rid of the national crime of the ACA, perhaps your pal Trump will fix everything for everyone. But I suggest gentle stretches, and mellow yoga, rather than holding your breath for that.

Dwain,
Sorry to hear about your situation. Locker's got his head way up his ass. Our office manager pays twice as much for medical insurance under Obama care.
Good luck on your sale.

Damn man! Sorry to read this and hoping the best for you.
I know what you are going thru. My feet and ankles don't work anymore. Gave away most of my gear last year when it became obvious I was out of the game for good.
Hope you get thru this and climb again.

Damn, symmetry like this is almost enough to make believe in the invisible sky fairies people are always yammering on about.
Might be interested if you end up parting things out, but some how "all or nothing" seems appropriate in this case.
Chin up Cosmic, I'm sure something will trickle down any time now.

You don't pay for shipping.
You add the cost of shipping on top of part out items.
So if an item sells for $20 you add the cost of shipping onto it.
So if the cost of shipping is $10 for the $20 item it's grand total $30.
This is an example .....

Biggest mistake ever selling your climbing gear, as therein lies your health and hope. Don't do it Cosmic. You won't get full amount for it, and so hard to replace once its gone. You will overcome these problems, just stay at it.

hey there say... oh my, please wait... don't give up...
i do not know many folks that have had a good 'save' from
these kinds of situations, but, i have heard
a few stories from others, in my life...
somehow, something happened, and it worked out... sadly,
though, i know it can take years... and as we get older,
we may not have as many young years left, as we hope for...
but, you never know...
hang on long... the tides can always turn...
miracles may be hard to come by, but they are not
unheard of...
maybe a door of help will open before you know it,
or, better than you ever dreamed of...

I am sorry for your predicament, Cosmic, and wish you the best.
Of course you must keep your harness, belay device and at least one pair of shoes. You can always climb on your partners gear/rope. Don't forget, TR parties are as much about seeing good friends and meeting new ones as the climbing. And if it really(really) hurts, your belayer can lower you(after razzing you appropirately).

true
the Republicans now in power are talking about gutting Medicare and just giving seniors
a "voucher" they can use to go buy private, for maximum profit, health insurance
the amount of the voucher I have read is about $7000 for a year coverage, far less then Medicare
but then, all this was well known by the very informed people who voted against their own self interests by voting the Republicans in power again
like Cosmic and Locker, I now have a dreaded pre existing condition with my back problems

It would be nice if GoFundMe was used for actual emergencies instead of paying off personal debt. The loaner obviously had the $$ in the first place, so I doubt they are going hungry as a result of Cosmics lagging payment schedule.

Hmmm. Obviously Cosmic, you never got into the light gear phase, except for your loafers. Start a flipping Gofundme page, put your gear back in the closet, and let your brothers of the rope help you out a little. Just do it! Locker said he's doing matching funds everyone, so let's get on this!!

When and if I sell it in one lump,
I will pay the shipping.
That could be a heavy cost. I recently sent my rack and rope to a friend in Jersey; total shipping and insurance cost was around $300. I used USPS 3 day.

Those bills are fake money. Nobody is out of pocket. The medical corps rack up ridiculous bills knowing full well that they will not get paid, then offset them against profits, it is a tax dodge. What sucks is that insurname companies get the services provided at a grealty reduced price, less than what you get billed. Kinda of like getting underwear on sale at walmart, wearing them till they are loaded up with skid marks and then donating them to Goodwill for a write-off at full retail.

We all have our ups and downs in life Cosmic, why don't you man up, and let some of the more fortunate people who have experienced same sh#t as you, give you a hand? Its just like top roping on a hard climb and falling, that's what the rope is for.
I like your TR's and your bromance with what was her name, and all the other funny posts you do. Im sure Im not alone in this. Time to grab the hand that is offered when you've been knocked down.

^^ Yup, go with Studlys advice ^^ You don't have a $3500 rack my friend. You have a need for $3500 but your rack looks to be worth substantially less than that. Best to you on the health issues, GOFUNDME is a solution to that.
You had back surgery and it screwed you up? That just occurred to my long time climbing partner. He said he expected to be walking within 2 days of the surgery. I called last week and 2 weeks after he's in near unbearable pain. Sucks. Backs just suck.
They suck worse than Locker from all I've heard. :-)
(sorry locker, couldn't resist) GOFUNDME Cosmik, and wish you luck on the back.

Hey man - I too have gone through back surgery and understand the pain and frustration.
That said, let me tell you this. I don't want to buy your rack. I already have one. Besides, you're going to need that stuff again some day.
I do, however, want to make a donation towards your medical expenses.
This isn't charity. This is a brother wanting to help another brother. I'm not rich, but I learned how to share a long time ago.
