I've smoked a handful of times in my life. I've always been a bit scared to become a regular, but now that the legal issues are mostly removed I think I would like to "get into" smoking regularly. I have rarely enjoyed drinking too much, but the few times that Ive smoked enough to get stoned I've really enjoyed the experience. I don't have any close friends that regularly smoke, but I think a few of you enjoy the devil weed.

There is still a lot of stigma associated with weed where I live, so I'd like to avoid a physical head shop. I'm 90% sure that I know someone I can acquire good quality product from.

I've tried to search the Internet for good resources on the subject, but they seem to expect that I'd know a lot more about the subject. What I've learned so far is paraphanelia is expensive, vaporizers supposedly produce a shorter lasting high. Joints and pipes cause really hot smoke to "burn" lungs. Bongs are expensive and there are 3,678,238 different types that do a lot to cool the smoke.

I'm thinking I will buy some type of $50 bong for home use and some type of pipe for camping trips. What do you think I should look at? What the heck is a grinder and kief used for? Is there a way to smoke a joint or pipe without burning your lungs?

NOt sure why you think I'm trolling. I believed in Christianity when I was in high school and the Air Force. By the time I quit believing that "stuff" I was still in the AF Reserves, so I was worried about drug testing, then while I was in college I stayed clean to ensure I could pass any drug test if a job came up. Over the last couple of years I've taken a hit or three from friends pipes...I now live in California and weed was just legalized in-state. I have a job where I don't need to worry about getting drug tested as long as I don't go to work stoned.

Sorry if I thought you would like to help me with my foray into this...I just want to avoid damaging my lungs more than necessary. I'm also hoping that a little weed here and there will help with anxiety/depression issues.

'Some of us" smoke regularly.

by that time I have the slows
dawnbreaker, dawnbraker,

--THC Hocking

see? there are few lasting ill effects as any major smokin' dude will tell you

a few tips for the n00b smoker:

do not drink bong-water, ever

do not let your pets drink bong-water, either

share what you have -- it generally gets returned in kind by cool peeps

do not hold stash in federal jurisdictions without being super-cool

not all climbers smoke weed, but you know that

always go for the cheapest possible deal, which means buying "in bulk" if you can

stick with one supplier if possible, but be open to good deals from good friends

clean your bong regularly -- ask your bong-dealer

repeat: do not ever drink bong-water

spend time learning to roll fatties -- your friends will be mightily impressed

only climb while stoned with others who are high as well

Clean your glass often, you will enjoy it more. Hot rubbing alcohol should be all you need. If its real bad add epsom salt ( the large grain kind ) into the mixture to shake around. No need to buy the expensive fancy cleaners.

Every different way you ingest will effect you differently. So you should try them all and see what they work best for. Edibles and vaporizing are the healthiest, with the lack of actual "smoke" entering the lungs, but the highs are all different. Edibles will last a bit longer and be more physically felt in the body. Smoking definitely gives the flavor differently, and better in my opinion. But all for you to try and decide for yourself.

To me, vaporizing is the equivalent to taking Nodoze instead of drinking coffee...

Similar results...

but big time loss of flavor...

I have the oppposite reaction

When vaping I can really taste the terpines and flavors

Edibles last 8 hrs dont take too much.

Smoke/vape last about an hour or two. Intense for about 15 min.

Don't dab right away if the other methods are intense for you.

Locker, you realize that the Feds are already interfering right?

I realize that it sounds completely logical that the Feds wouldn't bother about some dude smoking in his living room, and for the most part you are right, they don't.

But let's not lose sight of the reality that dude smokes in his living room only under the whim and leisure of federal agents.

Even if "F" can't wrap his head around it, the parallels between state pot legalization and certain state gun legalization are spot on.

Modern strains of pot are really strong. If you are only an occasional smoker, you won't need much. Probably just a single hit.

Unless you really get into it, I don't think damaging your lungs is really a concern.

A bong or vaporizer might be easier on the throat.

If you are buying from "somebody you know" I don't what your options are. But I would suggest you get one of the pens. For $30 you can a vaporizer that is the same technology that is used for ecigarettes. You have to buy a cartridge but they will last an occasional smoker a long term. For an occasional smoker, one small hit is probably all you need.

TCH may help with anxiety

I've had roommates who were quite anxious and obnoxious when they didn't have THC, and the THC certainly smoothed out their personalities, but apparently it's not effective for dyslexia.

In terms of bong costs... seems silly to me.I went through an "experimental" phase in 7th grade and made a bong with about 30 minutes of unskilled labor. Start with a glass bottle, drill a hole in the side, stick the outer part of a ball point pen into the hole so it is submerged below the level of liquid to be filled in the bottle. Use some tin foil to make a bowl on the end of the pen.

I only inhaled in the darn thing once, enough to figure out that inhaling smoke feels terrible. Managed to smoke about 2 more times in college, but pretty much figured out I can be as wacky as I want without needing to resort to aid like other people.

Welcome to the club!!!
As a newbie I would recomend an oil cartridge pen similar to a cigarette. Good taste and very easy on the lungs, plus they dont smell at all. You do need to get these at a pot store though.

As far as federal involvement goes I would say there is currently no noticeable federal involvement in states that currently have legal recreational markets or medical programs.

I live in the SW corner of Oregon and the cannabis industry here, including the legal, grey and black markets are thriving. In my county there are over 2,000 registered medical marijuana growsites and since the state does no enforcement regarding plant count limits and whether a property with a 8 ft wooden fence actually has medical cards for the platnts inside, the number of active growsites has boomed in the last 5 years. There is no law enforcement presence and it definately has a lawless wild west vibe, people are pretty much doing whatever the hell they want.

As for as what will happen with the new administration? I give it 50-50 odds there is recreational marijuana allowed and hopefully the state medical programs remain intact, time will tell.

Here are some pics I took from a flyover in my friends Cesena during the middle of summer.

In southern Colorado there was a surge of illegal activity after recreational pot was approved. There were something like fifteen raids on houses this past spring just in the community of 35,000 where I live. Cubans, Russians, Mexicans, etc. using the cover of legalization to grow product and ship it out of state in U-hauls, etc. Also increased street crime in Pueblo, ten miles away. There's a multi-organizational task force working there, also.

I hope these syndicates and groups move to California and out of our back yard.

I felt fine this morning, but around lunch time I felt really light headed and more stupid than usual...is that common?

Which, despite the ignorance of some of the retards on here, is EXACTLY what has happened in the case of several different states gun control legislation (or lack thereof). Particularly around NFA items.

jgill, I'm sorry to hear you've had unpleasant experiences with (state-law) legal weed in Colorado. That hasn't been my experience of the experience of anyone I know in Boulder or Denver

Pueblo West is a prairie community of about 35,000, ten miles from Pueblo. I live in the western part, where lots are typically 2.5 acres, so the homes are scattered and many of us don't socialize with our neighbors, although we are friendly and supportive when required. So it's easier for the illegal outfits to buy a house, move in and convert it to production of weed for export outside the state. Nobody pays much attention until what they are doing becomes obvious. Then the LE teams come in and arrest a few, perhaps, and turn the others out . . . and for the growers the process is profitable since house prices here in PW are I would guess one half of what they are in your neck of the woods. So, losing a house that cost $160K and is being purchased possibly through a mortgage after running the illegal business is a big financial positive. There has been virtually no violence associated with the growers or the LE agents.
