Thanks Mooch. I can't test-drive your porter, but I raise a glass of Gulden Draak in your honor.

And, to contribute to this thread in a negative way, I offer the photo below of the beer I am NOT drinking right now. And will probably not ever drink.

I stopped in at the local bottle shop/tap room on the way home to pick up the above-mentioned Gulden Draak, and saw... well, you can click on the photo yourself and blow it up to view the new record price for a single bottle of beer.

Not necessarily the best pairing with the last fillet of red salmon from last summer, but the sentiment is proper. Gonna go check out a new clambering zone and the. Catch some freshies on the way back. Love those sockeye.

HA! Yah, our fermenting vessel is bomber. Only one problem that day.......I was missing one gasket to fill directly from the heat exchanger. So we transferred through the top. Should do fine regardless.

Knowing someone who works with stainless steel is a big plus for any homebrewer. I've got a 10 gallon milk tank with standard corny keg fittings on top.

But, to get back to what's important, i.e. What Beer Am I Drinking Now, well I started the evening with the latest from Lost Abbey

They've changed the label slightly for their distributed sales, but the beer is still the same -- a fine hot-weather ale with both more hops than you'd expect in a Belgian-style blond ale, but also less "Belgian" than you'd expect. And, while they call it "Brett", the brett is not all that forward.

I'd probably just call it a really good Saison.

Well, if you're finished now, and can get to our place in Seattle before about 8:30, I have a fine east-coast IPA on tap for you. But much after that and the lights will be out and all you'll hear from the doorstep will be snoring.

As a Czech native living in the US, I am partial to Pilsner Urquell. These 4-packs of 0.5L cans sold at Whole Foods are of the best quality (the 6-pack in glass packaging is not sometimes as good).
