Anything is possible, but look at patterns and statistics. Most resentment towards "immigrants" from the "radical right" has been contained to unpleansantires. Nothing violent. Yet

That seems to be coming from one side, hence the resentment by the "radical right" that their laws are being ignored by their gov'ts.

They could get violent, the "radical right", but not yet. Haven't seen it. Can't say I'd blame them too much though.

I'll put that in quotes so you can save that and report me to the PC police, when appropriate. You're welcome.

ah Blue.. what in the world would radical muslim terrorists gain by bombing a police department in tiny little Nederland?

.....

This guys was an acquaintance/ friend. He worked in Yosemite in Wawona for a number of years. White guy pissed at the government. He killed himself in jail. He worked for the Army corp of engineers.. When I knew him, he wasn't nuts. Just an average guy unhappy with life.

https://www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field-offices/sacramento/news/press-releases/madera-county-man-indicted-for-pipe-bombs-found-at-school-and-gas-station

There is a large number of people who hate the government in the Oakhurst area. Militia types. Their rhetoric poisons peoples minds. Of course you have to be open to that kind of poison.

You should have heard the things I heard after obama was elected. I told the story before, but I was in line at Raley's grocery store when I overheard 3 people talking about a violent revolution starting soon. That they would join. I walked up to them and asked their names and asked which one of them was planing on shooting me as I voted for Obama and just wanted to know who was going to kill me. You should have seen their faces. I wish that I had gotten their names but I just blew it off as bullsh#t.

Then I was at Pete's having a burger and there was a couple in the booth behind me. The man was on the phone cancelling bible study that night because he was too upset to teach God's word. ( His words, not mine) One would think that was just when people needed "God's word", if they really believed Obama was Satan. Mercy.. I had words with him too. What a week that was after Obama was elected.

Nederland Police Department August Reports

Traffic, non-parking, 13

City Ordinance, 4

Miscellaeneous, 8

Traffic Parking, 2

On August 2, a husband and wife team were caught shoplifting and it was discovered they both had Failure To Appear larceny warrants from Steamboat Springs and the woman had an active kidnapping warrant from Missouri. The warrant charge was Fugitive from Justice.

When the officers went to the store, they saw the couple running away and chased them. It was reported that the female had punched one of the clerks. The male was found in a coffee shop and taken into custody. The female was taken into custody about a half mile from the store. They were taken to the NPD. The BCSO contacted the Missouri police and were advised the couple would be extradited.

The man admitted he had taken a hair brush, some motor oil, a gel and other items that had been hidden. On the way to the jail, the man said he had been in Nederland last summer and then went to Steamboat where they were arrested for stealing an iPhone . Their children were taken into custody and returned to Missouri.

The couple’s vehicle was found abandoned two days later at Chipeta Pak where it was impounded.

On August 8, a NPD officer responded to a report of a shoplifter in custody. The suspect had stolen two packages of tampons, putting them in her handbag, then grabbed other items and paid for them at the checkout. She told the officer it was a mistake, that she didn’t realized the packages were in her handbag. She was issued a summons for theft. She said the court date wouldn’t work for her and she was told to take it up with the court clerk.

On Aug. 11, a homeowner reported the theft of some building lumber at a construction site. Items removed were: eight lengths of 2X 4 10-foot boards; and eight lengths of 2 X 4 16 foot boards, all valued at $100. There are no suspects at this time.

On Aug. 14, the NPD received a report of a disturbance. The officer spoke to a third party witness who said he heard someone yelling at another man, but didn’t know what he was saying. Then one of the men drove away. The other witnesses said one of the men came to their house with a 30 pack of beer to speak with one of the men who was sleeping. The man woke up and began drinking the beer and then got angry about something that happened years ago.

At one point he picked up a log and chased the man, swinging the log at him several times and then threatened to run him over in his car and kill him.

On Aug. 31 the officer talked to the witnesses again and they said the the suspect had moved to Florida; that he suffered from a traumatic brain injury and alcohol dependence. All charges wee dropped.

On Aug. 18, a Ned officer responded to a report of a possible DUI and saw the vehicle described driving 20-25 mph in a 45 mph zone. The officer pulled the vehicle one and approached it, noticing there were four people in the car. Two of the passengers gave the officers their drivers license but the other didn’t. Boulder County informed the officer that two of the people had felony warrants. A BCSO arrived and said that the people in the car had active warrants.

The driver was placed under arrest and then the others were handcuffed and placed in the patrol vehicle. The driver’s licenses that had been handed over turned out to not belong to the passengers in the car, who apparently didn’t know his birthdate or how tall he was. The suspects were transported to the Boulder County Jail.

On Aug. 22, a person walked into the NPD to report an illegal campsite at Chipeta Park. The officer walked to the east end of the park and saw some trash and a man sitting at a picnic table. When the officer cleared his name, it came back with a Failure to Appear warrant out of Denver. The officer place the man under arrest and took him back to the NPD for medical clearance. The NFPD EMTs declared him able to be transported and jailed.

On Aug. 27, the NPD was requested to do a welfare check on a man walking along Hwy. 119, holding his head and who appeared to be on drugs. He had almost been hit by vehicles a couple of times. The officer drove down the block where he was last seen and saw the man walking in a zig zag pattern, in the street, holding his head. He walked away from the police patrol car. The officer approached him on foot and the man slowed down. The officer asked him if he was okay, and what was going on. He said, “We won.” Then he walked away. The officer blocked his path and was joined by another NPD officer and a member of the Colorado Mounted Ranger. The man was found to have an active Protection Order in place out of Boulder.

The man became agitated and started to clench his fists. The officers talked to him, telling him to unclench his fists. The man would not tell his name. The officers had him sit down and continued to evaluate him. He had to be held down in the chair, saying, “I am a pervert. I am God.” Then he shuddered and jerked his head. NFPD medics arrived and talked the man into laying down and he was transferred to an AMR ambulance who took him to the hospital, as it was a medical issue.

The following day, the officers were told that the man had taken LSD.

On Aug. 28, a NPD office was asked to respond to a welfare check at a restaurant., that an intoxicated male was in the parking lot, breathing but not responsive. When officers arrived they found a man sleeping in the parking area. They were unable to wake him. NFPD medics arrived and were able to wake him up but he was incoherent except for saying he had nothing to drink. Officers found a nearly empty bottle of vodka in his backpack.

The man became increasingly non-compliant and had to be handcuffed refusing to say who he was. He was placed in custody and transported to the Alcohol Recovery Center where officers learned his name and that there was a warrant for his arrest out of Minnesota. The man was not released at ARC but taken to the Boulder County Jail.

I do not scoff at Jesus' work and teachings. The problem is dealing with people who demonstrate no willingness for "love" or "tolerance". Our current society has few ways to deal with that situation.

Yer getting a warning, a ticket, going to jail, or getting shot. Pick one. They usually devolve quickly in descending order, so make sure how far you're willing to go before you deal with LEO.

I usually stop at a ticket. And that's rare now. I just go with warnings. And oblige.

Very interesting.

Thanks all for your thoughts, & Edge, special thanks to you for the August NPD activity report.

Obviously bluering is right yet-again on his keen analysis of the bombing.

A Muslim terrorist bombing;)

On a similar trend, the Challis Idaho BLM (Bureau of Land Management) office was burned to the ground last week. It might be a little more difficult for bluering to relate that to Muslim terrorists, since I doubt if there is a Muslim within a 100 mile radius of Challis.

But why would you want to blame white anti-government activists for burning down a BLM office, when you can blame Muslim terrorists, just before a presidential election?

My ex-wife went to Texas A&M to get a master's degree in computer science. She was born and raised in India. There were a lot of students from India at that university, and they all knew to be very afraid of the violence of the ignorant white locals. They'd throw beer bottles at the Indians walking on the side of the road as they drove past. One Indian guy had a flat tire or car breakdown or something like that- in the days before cell phones- so he knocked on a door to ask to use the phone to get help. The resident was afraid of this dark skinned guy and shot and killed him on the front lawn. No criminal charges for the white guy, because he was defending his property. So the Indians knew they were on their own, in for a long walk if their cheap old cars ever broke down. This was early 1990s.

Not sure how much has changed since then, but to claim that the angry radical right is just talk is about as deceptive and in denial as calling it locker room banter when bragging about genital-grabbing.

At the time of the Oklahoma City bombing I worked with a guy from the Azores with black hair, dark skin and a black moustache. Working in the streets as we did, after the bombing this Portuguese fellow had to endure all sorts of invective, death threats and bottle throwing from some of our more enlightned citizens. Dear underpayed and overworked FBI clerk who is no doubt reading this thread after searching the web for the key words "Nederland" and "bomb",

The above was meant as a joke, I'm 86% sure of it. We've had some crazy sh#t here too. Some jacklope climbed the local .....climb, and packed up a cooler full of beer. Having thus drank said beer he rapped down and forgot or left his cooler full of empties. I would normally say a few disparaging things here except I know for a fact this jackalope was a much better per than moi. And I'm a much better person than the rest of you asssholes, so - he's a very good dude, not a douch bag like me and the rest of you asswipes is the point. May I also note that HE IS WHITE!!!!!!!! DEAR LORD!!!!

Anyway, I'm up there with some buddies and we decide to bring the litter down with us, not knowing that this was from "good dude", thinking it had to have been a sh#t head to have left it up there. One of us has some masking tape, and he taped the cooler up so the bottles wouldn't fall out and break while rapping. Once we got up to the parking lot, no one wanted to either return the cheapassed banged up cooler nor take it home so climber choose to stuff it into the garbage can in the restroom. BAD F*#KING IDEA!!!!!!! Didn't fit, so he simply sat it next too the garbage can.

Next unsuspecting touron unit wanders into the restroom spys said cooler and horrifically overreacts: "OMG, I SEE SOMETHING I'LL SAY SOMETHING AND WHAT I'M SAYING IS.....(wait for it) ...

BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And the bomb squad was called out they closed down the rock and the park and the road and Plaidman was forced down off a climb at gunpoint and it was the biggest thing since alices restaurant and the circles and arrows and the group W bench. The cops finally blew up the cooler full of empties, realized that they had overreacted and everything went back to normal in less than a few anticlimatic seconds.

*BUT MY POINT IS THAT IT WAS A WHITE GUY THAT LEFT THAT FING COOLER UP THERE, MIGHT EVEN HAVE BEEN A RUSH LIMBAUGH LISTENING RIGHT WINGER TOO. * As noted above, the folks who built this country must be a bunch of jackalopes, and in this case, at least one in fact was.

BTW, the Nederland story: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/fbi-probes-motive-bomb-left-colorado-police-station-42769914

To everyone pointing fingers at who must have done this, why not wait for the investigation to conclude? Most likely it's some angry kid, I don't countenance blaming Jesus, leftwingers, Muslims or rightwingers for it....just yet. 1 arrested in Nederland bomb case (AP)
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/apnewsbreak-arrest-made-police-station-bomb-case-42856679

Authorities arrested a California man suspected of leaving a homemade explosive outside a police station in a small northern Colorado mountain town that failed to detonate.

FBI agents took David Michael Ansberry, 64, into custody in Chicago over the weekend, two law enforcement officials with knowledge of the investigation told The Associated Press. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the case.

A detective in the town of Nederland found the device in a backpack on Oct. 11 and brought it into the police station, believing it was lost property. Robots searched the device, and it was eventually detonated in the parking lot of the town's main retail complex, a strip mall that houses the five-officer police department.

Holy I did not know if this was real? I stop in there a lot on the way to and from skiing and climbing as it is the grocery store, liquor store, outdoor store, police station and almost half of the businesses in the town. Scary.

Authorities arrested a California man suspected of leaving a homemade explosive outside a police station in a small northern Colorado mountain town that failed to detonate.

Not too informative. Could it be Baja California? Does he live in California (any)? Was he born in California?

Where does he vote, if he does? Who is he voting for?

Is he a muslim Californian or baptist?

Tune in later.

The "radical right" has not really gone into bombing yet in Northern Europe ALA SDS, Bill Ayers.

This is a list of notable bombings related to the Northern Ireland "Troubles" and their aftermath. It includes bombings that took place in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain since 1969. There were at least 10,000 bomb attacks during the conflict (1969–1998).

No wonder someone is bombing the place.

Nah, zBrown, but he did record part of Thriller at Caribou Ranch just outside of town. I'm sure there are plenty of native thirtysomethings walking around with repressed memories of that time.

The arrest affidavit said a cell phone was used as a detonator for the device, and investigators found that another cell phone number "had dialed
the detonator multiple times in an attempt to engage the bomb."

Investigators quickly and methodically were able to find out where the two cell phones were purchased based on the phone numbers assigned to them. They obtained a description of a person who purchased them.

"Upon learning of the description, the Chief of Police for Nederland, CO remarked that he saw an individual matching that description during evacuations from the Boulder Creek Lodge, a motel across the street from the PD, on the morning that the bomb was discovered," the affidavit said.

The motel was able to confirm they had a guest that matched the description and it provided Ansberry's senior citizens identification card. He is from San Rafael, California. "Ansberry is listed as 3’6” tall, weighing 100 pounds," according to the affidavit.

Poor Nederland. The big fire up there last summer was started by a couple of vagrants from Alabama. The legalized dope seems to be attracting a lot of unsavory types to Colorado. The more states legalize it, the more these people will hopefully stay at home. What we need now is a good cold winter.

That article said the bomb was detonated in the PD parking lot. Where's the video of that?
Or was that made up, too, so the NPD could get federal funds to buy ex-military hardware
to combat the next Zomby (sp?) attack?

Ha! Maybe....

I have a few cop friends who discovered some live grenades upon searching the house of an older deceased individual.

The first words out of one of their mouths to me was "You want to come set these things off?" (at the range of course).

To which I replied, "Hold in my hand and pull the pins on grenades of unknown origin/age that might have been tampered with?"

Bomb Suspect Linked To Radical Hippie Group
October 17, 2016 11:51 PM
"Sources told CBS4 Ansberry has been linked to a radical, counterculture group known as STP, or the STP Family. The hippie group was reportedly once based in the mountains outside of Boulder and known to be violent. Sources also say Ansberry may have been seeking revenge for something that happened more than 40 years ago.

According to an article published in the New York Times, in 1997, Renner LeRoy Forbes, then 68 years old and Nederland’s former deputized marshal, confessed to having killed Guy Howard Gaughnor in 1971. Gaughnor has also been linked to STP. It is unknown whether Gaughnor’s death was the motive for Ansberry’s alleged crime."

Another more complete article:
"A Nederland marshal murdered his friend in 1971. Two weeks ago, he allegedly planted a bomb to avenge the death."

"An old STP sticker, the memory of a cap-gun-toting hippie, a rogue marshal and a 45-year-old grudge all came together earlier this month in a bizarre event that shook the small mountain town of Nederland."
