My son just did the NIAD.
Well... Barb and I were far short of that time but....
How many families have had all members do the Nose?
Perhaps not that many.
Barb's was specal, the first womens's ascent.
Mine nothing out there but so fine with my best partner, Renny Jackson.
I have been many cool places in my life but perhaps none as cool as the upper dihedrals of the Nose.
Anyway, congratulations Paul Kimbrough.

Yes, congratulations. It seems like only yesterday that Barb, Molly and myself did our first climb together in the Valley.

Me mum hooked me up with a couple of Sierra Clubbers when I was 13. They took me over Lamarck Col and out via Bishop Pass on my very first trip! That set me on quite the slippery slope. Thanks, Mum!

Congrats to one of my favorite Utah families, still miss hearing your recorded voice as I head out for cooler adventures Tom.
Reading this sparked the following discussion; first 3 generation tick of same? Are there 3 gems of qualifying Gleason? Frost? Seems like it could be any time now.
Congrats again Tom, hope to see the whole crew in the hills this winter.

My parents were flatlanders, and my father once said he couldn't understand why anyone would want to live near mountains...
...because mountains blocked the view of everything.
But somehow, I ended up in the mountains. And then, a few years ago, approaching a climb at Squamish, I heard "Hi Dave!" from someone already at the base.
Yup, my son, whom I hadn't seen in a few years, had turned into a climber.
So, okay, neither of us has climbed the nose of El Cap, but that doesn't really matter, does it?
