Yes, genius for sure and somehow it'd be coo if he gets to be back with his genius wife who left the world way too early.

My kids and I watched Willie Wonka about 50 times. The guy was a genius.

Gilda wrote a book called It's Always Something. I got to record her reading the audio version. It was a few months before her death. Wilder attended the sessions as much as he could. More to say than I can here.
Amazing people, both. Rest in peace.

Yup, in house, a big deal around here.
We had seen him around until 2012?

Goddammit! He was wilder and crazier in a wild and crazy era.
Monster hit after monster smash.
Except Frisco Kid...it needed a BIG co-star (a fast-laner E-type) but they settled for a Ford.

Igorta say, I'll miss his funny.
Russ, that was understated and tasteful. LOL

Sad. He kept Wonka weird, from being a corny cartoon. Respect.

hey there say, ... my condolences to his family and loved ones...
i always enjoy his simple easy humor...
i did see him once, too, in a heavier adventure, which i usually do
not watch, but he did an excellent job:

Young Dr Frankestein had it all:
Gene Wilder ... Dr. Frankenstein
Marty Feldman ... Igor
Madeline Kahn ... Elizabeth
Cloris Leachman ... Frau Blücher
Teri Garr ... Inga
Peter Boyle as the Monster.
not forgetting Mel Brooks.
and more. It makes me laugh just reading the cast list. One of the best. I have to check out Blazing Saddles again.

This saddens me. Gene Wilder, along with Steve Martin, Richard Pryor, and Bill Murray (and Gilda Radner and Billy Crystal and the Wayans brothers, and Jim Carrey and Chris Rock) are my my main comedy influences. I don't know where I would be without these guys.

I grew up watching his stuff. Gene Wilder is one-of-a-kind. Crazy comic genius. It bordered on the weird, bsurb and insane sometimes, but he was always funny.
I always marveled at how weird his comedy was. Definitely a chip off off the Mel Brooks block. But still different.
Rest in peace, Gene. God bless ya!

He didn't appreciate being labeled a 'comedian'. He considered himself an actor.
Check out the excellent obit in today's LA Times.
