Jeebus....$400 for GA. $1600 to stand in the pit.
I've got an AC/DC ticket stub from BITD that says $15. Times they are a changin'!

I may consider paying $400 to go if they can sign Led Zeppelin.
Otherwise...

The f*#king stones are the reason ticket prices started going up in the 90s. In the mid 90s shows were $35 at most. Then along comes the Stones charging $55 and everyone followed suit.
Of course now with the Internet and resellers showing what the actual market value is for tickets the prices have gone up way more. Plus the Internet killed album sales so they have to make money somehow.
The Who opens for Roger Waters? I guess Pink Floyd has sold more albums, but that seems backwards.
Paul McCartney is still rockin! But I can't stand Neil Young's voice. I'll likely see Sir Paul again locally.
$7M per set? Not bad work if you can get it!

I do some ticket resales on the side, but i do not think I will be investing in this one, those prices are crazy. I sold a pair of center floor Stones tickets 9 rows back in San Diego last year for 1500, prices peaked at maybe 2500 the day of the show. I just don't see any profit in 1600 tickets in the mosh pit with potential for 100 degree days.

Saw Rage against the machine open for Tool in 99 I think for like 60$. Ben Harper was there too. All in their prime.
This concert is a joke, premium prices for bands who just need to retire. I envy some of the shows my dad got to see with these same bands in the 60s. 50+ years ago, same songs, same bands, lol. Hey hats off to them if you guys will still pay them.
The cool thing is that at least the show will be done by 8:30. Hardcore.

There are plenty of greyhairs in Palm Desert & Palm Springs that time of year who have plenty of disposable income for this kind of show. It's gonna sell out, I betcha.

Bad trip tents replaced by Nap Stations.
All you guys talking how expensive this concert is.
Have you been to a concert recently?
You'd be paying 150 to see any of those bands independently.
Except for Dylan- he plays County Fairs and sh¡t.

I don't know, man. The average age of a performer at that concert might even exceed the average age of all of us. Seems kinda pricey when you think of it that way.

Don't get me wrong :-) I have zero interest in this fest!
But the 3 day price is reasonable by today's standards to see those legends, whether we think they're tired, or played out, or cash grabbin'.
Stoked for the people that are into it- it's a dream lineup for many.

$18 in 1981 would be $47 today if it was just inflation.
But I have to agree seeing these legends can be worth the price.
When I saw young kids a few years who are totally into bands of the past like The Beatles, AC/DC, and Zep I realized this music will be around for a LONG time. We are lucky to get to see these folks live. In 30 years kids will be like... "you saw the Stones!? Damn you're so lucky"
Of course seeing them in their prime for $6 is better than nowadays. But still. I saw McCartney for the first time in 2014 at candlestick. I was SO happy I did. Dude is a living legend. And he put on a great show. Sounded amazing for any age, but in his 70s still rockin' out. Amazing.

The bands at Coachella that reached young people on so many levels over the years should keep in mind that they are where they are because of those people .
I know it's a business but, as a young adult that went to these events I am grateful that the tickets were priced in a way that made them available even to broke kids like me. Festivals are a good experience for young folks, imo.
I think today's youth is getting ripped off by heartless promoters that could care less about them. Unlike the Kirshners, Grahams, et al of the 60's and 70's that were involved in bringing people together as much as making a buck.
By criticizing the ridiculous prices of these events, the older folks here are simply appreciating now what they may not have at the time. I know I do.

The reason I ask is that last summer I paid 30 bucks a night to watch the Dead, with no Jerry, from the comfort of my couch.
It was awesome.
I'm sure a paid live stream of this festival will happen. $$$

Went to a Dylan show in Berkeley 2-3 years ago. God, what a waste of time. Bob was never a great singer, in his old age he's the worst singer I've ever heard who got paid for it.

Dylan's show was all about a sound that doesn't exist anymore no matter what song was played. It was fantastically ancient and emotionally current all at the same time.
the last Dylan show I sat through I failed to identify a single song. It was f*#king horrible and sad.
The Stones continue to deliver the goods, they may well outlive their audience.

The show I'm talking about was from the late eighties early nineties I forget exactly when, obviously, doses.
Dylan was still OK at that point in my opinion of course

Saw Dylan in about 91 and couldnt make out a word of it or which songs he sang - but it was kinda cool he wasnt just running out the same old greatest hits. He did it his way. Sincerity.
Id pay for that, but not some best of show by old men trying to act like young men. Thats embarassing.

^Didn't know you were such a follower of music Jim, what song are you listening to right now?
Cream was the band that did my ears in at the Fillmore, 1967.
For three days the only thing I heard was "that spoon, that spoon, that spoonful"
Made it hard to study.
I first saw Mr. Zimmahman live in 1964. Everybody was saying "he writes great songs, but he can't sing for sheeit".
I spent a lot of time collecting most all of Bob's live recordings that don't match his records. I've slowed down a bit and so has Bob. He can nevertheless deliver amazingly powerful performances given the right circumstances.
Don't ask me nothin about nothin.

Dinosaur? Fukking A - kiss my ass.
Prince dug him
Prince paid tribute to classic rock artists Bob Dylan, the Beatles and the Cars by covering their songs during a three-plus hour performance in Toronto on Friday night (Nov. 26).
Prince has always been a high-energy performer with a catalog of songs so long that if printed on paper could stretch across Minneapolis. The fact that he added Dylan’s ‘Make You Feel My Love,’ the Beatles ‘Yesterday’ and the Cars ‘Lets Go’ to his seemingly never-ending set list proves that Prince is still full of surprises.
Bob Dylan, Point Dume, zBrown, Frisbee. Best show I ever attended. I ain't lyin'.

Bob Dylan did the Rolling Thunder tour in the mid 70s with Joan Baez and others. In 1976 Joan and Bob played at the Bread and Roses festival at Berkeley which featured a amazing who's who of folk singers. Dylan was doing white-face makeup on the Rolling Thunder tour so Joan Baez dressed like Bob Dylan and put on white face and was announced on stage as Bob Dylan. She played four songs before they told the crowd.
