Just common thugs. Happens everyday, should not be called a school shooting, misleading.

Wouldn't have been newsworthy at all in any other first world, industrialized country. It would have remained a run of the mill fistfight. With the easy availability of guns here it turned deadly.

Anything that makes a loud noise now within 2 miles of books or backpacks is labeled a "school shooting".

If the victim had a gun, then he could have shot the shooter first, and then we would have the same body count. That just proves that everyone should carry guns.
And it was a GUN FREE Zone!!!, all these zones are death traps,
any gun nut can go in and open fire without worry of being shot
at least until the cops come

Jeez, I'm about to get clobbered by all the knees jerking around here, going straight to the democratic party line.
Sounds to me that there were some drunk thugs in the dorms, who got in a fight and it got way out of hand. You know, the type of people who would have guns regardless of what laws were on the books.

It is like I said, I doubt students are allowed to have guns in the dorm. But, how are you going to enforce that? 24/7 metal detectors and pat downs before you're allowed into your residence?

For the same reason someone needs a gun in church, Because he can...
Cross the street and get one at the QuickieMart.

People need to quit playing the victim in these shootings. Just rush the f*#ker. They can't shoot everybody.

This was a campus fight. Ridiculous than a gun was inserted here, but alas like most gun violence in this country, people with poor impulse control have access to guns, feel threatened and kill unnecessarily. How many dozen instances of this occurred on the same day throughout the country but didn't make the news?
We live in country chock full of irresponsible idiots. Time to tighten laws massively against the irresponsible having access to guns. It's a public health issue. Everyone should be behind this.
The other day I was at Wal-Mart in Reno. Lots of people open carry in Nevada. I was browsing on an aisle and noticed a severely deconditioned man shuffle by with his mouth breathing slack jawed wife and a half dozen cognitively impaired offspring in tow. On the hip of his saggy, soiled sweatpants was a firearm teetering nearly upside down about to fall out of the holster. With his moribund posture, buttcrack showing, and pants about to fall off with the weight of a gun about to hit the floor and accidentally discharge, he was not what I would call an exemplar of responsible public gun display. In fact, this moron seemed totally f*#king clueless about gun safety and appeared to be endangering those around him. A criminal could have pulled this loosely held weapon from him in a millisecond and this gun totting dipshit would have been none the wiser. Needless to say, I left the aisle and didn’t bother with my purchase.

Of course, we won't mention that hands and feet constitute the murder weapon in the United States two to three times as often as rifles, but that isn't a crisis we can exploit. Better to blame this on survivalists or unarmed victims (take your choice).

Crankster, the Second Amendment isn't going anywhere. Just how do you propose to remove firearms (or any other armament) from thugs? Making something that's already illegal "illegaler?"
My real gripe is with the all-or-nothing aspect of the arguments I read on the firearms topic these days. Any change that makes it harder to buy firearms or ammo gets treated as if it's a total ban on firearms by the survivalists. Anything that doesn't disarm the public gets treated as a sellout to the "gun lobby" by the anti-gun fanatics.
Firearms control isn't taking better aim, nor is it firearms elimination. The idea is to make it harder for sociopaths to possess firearms without unduly restricting the public. To me, firearms control is like a safe. A safe doesn't prevent theft, it merely delays it, but that delay may be enough to deter some theft.
The NAU shooting isn't a mass murder, and I don't see how any law that passes constitutional muster could have kept a gun out of the perp's hands. Most school shootings lead to calls to ban thinkg like AR-15's, which are not involved in all that many killings, compared to other weapons, which was my point. The weapons that kills the most in this country (excluding vehicles as weapons) are pistols. Good luck getting those out of the "wrong" hands!

John, there were 2 murders (maybe more) in the bay area recently by 3 losers who stole a gun from an unlocked car. Guns, guns, everywhere, of course some will be stolen and used in crimes. Leave the damn guns at home, for starters.

The newspaper reported that Deputy Coconino County Attorney Ammon Barker said that after an argument turned into a fight, "The defendant then ran to his car, retrieved his [.40-caliber] gun and then went back to the fight … I just want to be clear, there is no indication of self-defense. The defendant shot four unarmed individuals, killing one of them."
In Florida it only matters if at the time he pulled the trigger he was in fear for his life, no?
Location, location, location.
...
Well except if you are cop. In which case, where you are really doesn't matter. Even if you're no where at all.
Infamous service revolver?
