Looks like a great place for armchair mountaineers to sip their $6 lattes while being schooled in traditional climbing values.

Maybe Messner himself is the artifact?

Doesn't exactly 'blend' with the landscape, does it?

There are actually six Messner Mountain Museums(MMM). I visited the original one, located in the Dolomites above the summit of the Passo Cibianna in an old observatory in 2003. Lots of great exhibits
showcasing the history of climbing and some new stuff from the Hubers.

The one in the OP's photo is in Corones and was purposely built for MMM. The Kronplatz is a big alpine ski area and they had a stage finish of the Giro d'Italia there a few years ago(they tried to have another one, but got snowed out). It is a very steep and narrow road to get up there.

Love to go, but I'd skip the latte.
