So myself and my lovely friend Gill are hoping to get to Squamish this weekend, I'm flying to Vancouver as I only have a few days off and I doubt my poor Bubble van would make it from Colorado to Squamish in a month...

But now we have no car as Gill has no money and a bicycling DUI (long story involving a bicycle police chase across Dublin) and the people who were supposed to give us a lift are being lame.

So are any of you good supertopo people heading that way this weekend?

I land at 5.30 on Sat so Sat evening or Sunday morning works. We can supply snacks, gas money and psyche...

Just get the greyhound... its pretty cheap and if you talk to the driver nicely you can get dropped off at the chief.

You may have done this already, but I'd suggest posting also on cascadeclimbers.com. Make sure to link in one of your excellent TRs.

I checked the greyhound earlier and it said no services, but just checked again through a different part of the website and found it. That website is garbage..

Come on BC climbers. Step up to the plate; this woman did lurking fear solo as her first route up el cap!

and a bicycling DUI (long story involving a bicycle police chase across Dublin)

That story in itself should be worth the time.

I apologize on behalf of Canada (so far), since I can't believe that you haven't been avalanched with offers from the locals by now, since the story of the DUI bicycle bust alone would be a guaranteed free ride back when I was your age.

Sorry I don't live anywhere near Vancouver, or else I'd try to help you out, but keep the faith - someone in Van has gotta wake up and spring you a ride by the weekend. Our nation's honour is at stake here.

P.S.: Personally, I'd avoid hitch-hiking if I were you. It's not as safe as it used to be. If you're totally stuck, I'd strongly suggest the bus.

Jane: this may not be the best spot for you to line up a ride up from vancouver, the area locals that lurk on this site, as far as I can tell, are either hang doggin wanna be(like me) or old washed up kooks (like tami) neither of those two demographics really do much real climbing anymore if ever at all.

You might have better odds posting on squamishclimbing.com either in the ride share or climbing forum, no guarentees though as it can be quite dry over there.

If you psyched gals are still strapped for a ride come Saturday evening I could cruise down Sunday morning and give yas a lift to the chief, in the name of Canadian hospitality of coarse.

Best of luck, either way I hope to see you two upon the wall on some of squamishes stellar but seldom traveled big wall routes.

Thanks everybody :-) We got sorted in the end, one of Gill's roommates is lending us his truck in exchange for whisky.

Tami - I tend to hitch from rural to urban, but not the other way round. My Dad gives me sh#t about it but that's somewhat hypocritical, as he has hitched from Ireland to the Himalayas at least twice BITD...

Luke - Thanks so much for the offer dude, way too generous. I owe you a beer just for offering. As for big walls, we are just going cragging for a few days, I'm retired from that aid climbing shit!

GCF - Thanks for the offer, enjoy the weekend.
