Not a big event, but if you live in central CA or want to make a weekend out of it, some local folks and anyone who wants to join are going to meet up and climb together at the newly developed crag.

If you want to check out Danland or just come to hang out, make your way to Danland on D-Day for Danland-Day!

There is a mini-guide at http://www.sekiclimbing.com/danland.html but there will probably be a few up there if you don't want to download and print it yourself.

Nice looking stuff up there. Almost ran off the road looking at it last time I went through. About an hour up from Three Rivers, right?

Cool swimming holes and water slides at the slick rock creek crossing too.

Looks sweet
Dawg, very nice job,

My tablet just auto corseted the word Joao no, try again in caps,

JOB, (whew.that worked) and , AND was the auto correct word!?

I should have said Good Work ! It looks great and thnx for the guide too.

In the way back I was at a crux,

go to kings canyon, and all

or visit Rocky Mnt, National Park.

I was welcome to stay in the Rangers house inside the entrance.

I use this with my two kids,

One should grasp adventure, as much as opportunity.

You can do it, no crutches till you need them.

I wish I had gone to SEKI, in the eighties.

Colorado was a blast, but my hart is half California

With road at 3600' and crag at 4000', is there poison oak?

That's the one, Spider. But the stuff right there by the road isn't great so the main area is up above it and a little west.

Clint, thanks for the clear map! There is poison oak around there but it's not a problem. The climbers trail is graded and beautiful thanks to the namesake Dan, who's been going there for about six years. There also isn't any along the base, just near the trail.

Here's a picture Brian Prince took of Vitaliy on the second pitch of Race Crack (10d) this month. And the first pitch is the money pitch!

We would rather climb in the heat than the cold! But ya, it's good year-round and it may be a little warm next week. It's in the shade in the morning and parts are in the shade later, too. 90 degrees is perfect climbing weather for central valley weirdos :)

Well with such a reasonable approach, I'd probably carry up an ice chest for cold ones...to ward off any heat stroke :)

Wow! Cool area. Squirrel Creek is the one with the swimming holes. Oriole Grove High up and some interesting trails up there I can see on the Google satellite view.

Gotta git up there.

Approach from LA is a bit long.

Tomorrow! I'll probably head be up there with Larry Zulim and Dan around 8 or 830. Looks like 50% chance of scattered showers in the afternoon but we'll head up either way and play it by ear.

A few sprinkles won't hurt and maybe if it pours we can try some of the aid lines? Either way, looking forward to seeing whoever decides to show! Woot!

I'm going and so is Guyman, we'll be there late tonight.

Will I need some larger cams? I have a Valley Giant 10 along with the usual BD 5's & 6's. Some of the chimneys look good.

Crystal Cave if weather poops out? :)

Watch out for all the salamanders crawling on the approach trail. If it rained this week, there will be a lot.

There are routes where you could use them if you're into suffering Levy. I think there might be a few stashed up there actually?

Sorry Vitaliy, the sally sally sally manders are all done getting it on and went underground for the rest of the year so we won't get to play with them :(

Man, wish I didn't have to work. I'd love to meet you all and see your reactions to the place. Danland is a great and new crag! Been there alot and Dan and Larry have put up some fine climbing there! Good trail too. I'll be just over the hill in Seki waiting for fire, or watching the rain. Should be a cool and nice day to be out there. Everyday in Danland is a good day..........Enjoy!!

Great day on Saturday! The weather turned out to be perfect, a little thunder with sprinkles in the early afternoon but nothing more so we stayed as long as we wanted.

There were about 10 of us and it was fun being the bottom of barrel and getting to watch and learn from the masters! It was also motivation to get better for the summer season. I spent most of the time with Vitaliy and Elaina and once I was too tired to continue I watched Elaina style a 5.12a route. Levy made everything he climbed looked easy, even when he and Dan (yes, there were three Dans there) linked both pitches of the DZ Arete (11b) with ease. Dan D (of Danland fame) and Larry Zulim were excellent tour guides and hosts. I got to spend time with Guyman hearing stories of the Gorge of Despair and other southern sierra adventures. Johob and a seasonal employee named Gabe also showed up to hang out and climb.

The only bummer was that everyone didn't get to hang out very much because it was only a one day trip and we were all too busy climbing. We never even made it to the right side of the formation where the rock quality improves. 10 people climbing in Sequoia at once must be some sort of record :)

Hey Daniel, it was good to meet you and thanks for organizing the day. Larry & Dan were wonderful hosts, they provided tons of information and were supportive and fun to be around.

Watching Elaine hike Lizard Run, 5.12, was impressive, good technique was needed and she delivered the goods. Gabe was super psyched as was Brendan too. I look forward to another visit when it cools down.

Danland was very cool and a nice addition for the locals. Now they have some really really nice crack climbs... RaceCrack is worth the trip....

Really nice trail, cut through some nasty PO. With tons of wildlife, I saw a Salamander... sort of purple in color and a snake.... King Snake???? "red touches white touches black" ... I forget but I wasn't going to pet the thing.

And hard slab...Lizards Run goes at 12 I was reminded of some of the hard stuff found at Courtright. Elaina made that 12 look like 5.8..... Kids today!

We all had a good time, it was fun to meet some Tacos and some new faces also....

Thank you for putting this together.
