Ron.. they don't need walmart to do secret urban training. They have whole complexes on their own bases for that. Its just a big warehouse filled with shelfs of stuff. Do you really think that the military needs to shut a walmart, one that is doing great business, in order to train? come on… why not just shut one that is doing poorly if they really need the space. It would cost less.

Man.. you really need to stop reading these conspiracy websites.

from FoxNews:
‘Jade Helm’ military exercise causing political firestorm in Texas, western states
Published May 06, 2015FoxNews.com
A massive military exercise planned in states across the American West has touched off a political firestorm, with several top Texas officials now questioning the military’s plans – if only to calm the Internet and constituent furor surrounding it.

The seven-state war simulation exercise, known as “Jade Helm 15,” is planned for this summer. It involves training exercises on private and public land – while such exercises are hardly unique, even the military acknowledges the “size and scope” of this one sets it apart.

While the White House and Pentagon are downplaying concerns, this hasn’t stopped a barrage of blogs and tweets warning about whether the federal government is preparing for “martial law.” Even actor Chuck Norris is keeping his “eyes of a ranger” on the situation.

Western-state officials are now caught between a desire to calm their residents – and yet not appear to stoke any conspiracy theories.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott already has asked the State Guard to monitor the training exercises, after officials faced worried residents at a packed town hall meeting.

This alone triggered accusations that the Republican governor is “pandering to idiots.”

On Monday, the governor defended his actions. “There was, frankly, an overreaction to the simple fact that someone has to be in charge with gathering and disseminating information,” said Abbott, speaking to reporters. “We stepped in to play that role, which is a role to be applauded.”

On Tuesday, Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert also released a lengthy statement saying his office has been “inundated” with calls on the matter.

“This military practice has some concerned that the U.S. Army is preparing for modern-day martial law,” he said. “Certainly, I can understand these concerns.”

At the same time, Gohmert said he understands why military officials want to test whether Special Forces groups can move around a civilian population and handle various threat scenarios.

Gohmert explained that his concerns stem from the way the military is approaching the exercise. He cited a widely circulated map which details the seven states that are part of the exercise – California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Texas. The map has Utah and Texas colored red and labels them “hostile.” It labels other states as “permissive,” leaning hostile” and “leaning friendly.”

Gohmert said he was “rather appalled” that the “hostile” areas “have a Republican majority, ‘cling to their guns and religion,’ and believe in the sanctity of the United States Constitution.”

He called this an “affront” to residents there and urged the military to change its approach and tone. “The map of the exercise needs to change, the names on the map need to change, and the tone of the exercise needs to be completely revamped so the federal government is not intentionally practicing war against its own states,” he said.

And Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican presidential candidate, told Bloomberg he’s reached out to the Pentagon to “inquire about this exercise.” He said he has no reason to doubt the Pentagon’s assurances, but he understands residents’ concerns – and backs Abbott’s actions.

But the White House and Pentagon are pushing back. Last week, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said he has “no idea what [Abbott is] thinking.”

“In no way will the constitutional rights or civil liberties of any American citizen be infringed upon while this exercise is being conducted,” Earnest said.

Pentagon spokesman Col. Steve Warren likewise said it “poses no threat” to civil liberties.

“This is a several weeks long training exercise with the purpose to refine the skills of our special operations forces,” he said, while batting back “strange Internet conspiracy theories” and “wild speculation” about the operation.

Special Operations Command said in a March press release that the exercise, from July 15 through Sept. 15, will only take place on “pre-coordinated” public and private lands – with permission from landowners and officials. Much of it would be in “remote areas,” though residents may see an uptick in “vehicle and military air traffic and its associated noise.”

An official with Special Operations Command also told Fox 13 Salt Lake City that the purpose was to replicate “potential terrain” soldiers might find themselves in overseas. As for labeling states like Utah “hostile,” the official said that was part of the design. “It is fictional and is not intended to represent any belief that the state of Utah is hostile,” the official said.

The politics have gotten tricky for western state lawmakers, however, as it puts them between concerned residents and America’s soldiers.

In Texas, Democratic Party Deputy Executive Director Manny Garcia called on Abbott to apologize to the military, accusing the governor of giving “credence to conspiracy theorists by ordering the Texas State Guard to monitor U.S. military operations.”

Meanwhile, Chuck Norris, a.k.a. “Walker, Texas Ranger,” is backing up the governor.

Writing on the conservative website WorldNetDaily, he said: “Concerned Texans and Americans are in no way calling into question our brave and courageous men and women in uniform. They are merely following orders. What’s under question are those who are pulling the strings at the top of Jade Helm 15 back in Washington. The U.S. government says, ‘It’s just a training exercise.’ But I’m not sure the term ‘just’ has any reference to reality when the government uses it.”

well.. since you put it that way. I guess it does make perfect sense that walmart would close 6 highly profitable stores to help the american military infiltrate AMERICA. I mean.. otherwise it would be pretty hard for the military to just drive down any american street without someone going. "Hey look.. its the military" And that would definitely spoil the surprise and our military definitely needs the surprise factor when it comes to taking over America.

Now I understand why they call them black fridays. Its because of the black ops. Next november I'm not going anywhere near a walmart, no matter how big of a flat screen tv they offer for 19.99. They are probably putting in SECRET trap doors under the floor that will collect people as they walk in the door. Americans are such sheep.

How many troops do you figure they can hide in a walmart? I'm talking the superstore.. not just the regular store. Plus you got to figure in those hidden secret tunnels that interconnect with the CIA. Oh.. and with In and Out burger. I hear those black ops guys love in and out burgers. Me too.. Hey Ron.. do you think they will put in an in and out burger in Oakhurst when I show them military guys how much I support them? Man.. wouldn't that be great.

I do find it quite interesting that a cost cutting money grubbing corporation like wal-mart would expose themselves to 60 day payouts for their employees rather than planning these closures in advance, and giving their employees proper notice so as to not have to payroll for assets which aren't making money??

If the plumbing had exploded in all these stores i could see that. Sounds pretty fishy to me....

www.newsport.com/18peopledieinwalmartgasexplosion

I'm sorry Ron.. I have undercovered the truth.

the truth is that at an undisclosed walmart location some bad burrito meat was put out for sampling and 622 people got some serious diarrhea resulting in a build up of methane gasses in the plumbing system which then exploded when someone threw a lit match in a toilet. The resulting explosion killed 18 people and leveled the building. 14 people survived for 26 weeks by eating their neighbors in one of the most amazing stories of survival along with one of the largest cannibaism tales in history.

So walmart is upgrading their plumbing to handle any future problems as a result of a lawsuit from the daughter of one of the people who was eaten.

Its sad, but its true. I read it on google.

Ron your thread was way more fun; kinda like klimmer,s moon ship; but this is the truth.

The reason why Walmart wants to keep the unions out is because on average unionized employees earn 28% more than non-union employees. Union members earn an average of $4.95 more an hour than non-union employees. That equals and extra $10,300 a year, or enough to pull the average Walmart employee out of poverty.

One of Walmart’s favorite tactics if employees do vote to form a union is to close down. After butchers in Jacksonville, TX voted to unionize, Walmart announced that meat cutting would end at 180 stores. In 2004, after workers in Jonquiére, Quebec voted to become the first unionized Walmart in North America, Walmart closed the store.

Walmart is a serial violator of labor laws who most recently was busted by the NLRB for illegal retaliation against employees who were demanding higher wages and better working conditions. There is a reason why customers are fleeing Walmart for stores like Costco where employees earn a living wage. At a time when the gap between rich and poor has never been greater, many customers are refusing to shop at a chain whose business model is to pay their employees so little that they have to rely on food stamps. Walmart could pay their employees a living wage, but the Walton family has decided not to.

If six closed down, how many opened up?

From the map back yonder, I appear to live in a red zone, should I start warming up my flame thrower?

Chuck Norris is keeping a watchful eye on it.

from MilitaryTimes (5-5-15)

Who better to monitor a military exercise in Texas than Chuck Norris?

Operation Jade Helm 15, a Special Operations Command training exercise, has sparked heated buzz about a potential military coup in the Lone Star State.

And television's Texas Ranger is the latest critic to admit that the exercise has him worried.

"Concerned Texans and Americans are in no way calling into question our brave and courageous men and women in uniform," Norris wrote in a recent op-ed for WND.com. "They are merely following orders. What's under question are those who are pulling the strings at the top of Jade Helm 15 back in Washington. The U.S. government says, 'It's just a training exercise.' But I'm not sure the term 'just' has any reference to reality when the government uses it."

Last week, citizen concerns prompted Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to ask the Texas State Guard to keep an eye on the summer exercise — a decision that comedian Jon Stewart called "adorable" in pitting the state's part-time Guard troops against the vastly superior firepower of U.S. Special Operations Command.

Or as Stewart described it: "Like an 8-year-old picking a fight with the Predator."

On his show Monday night, Stewart made clear he's had enough. "There's no Texas takeover!" he said. "Enough of the fear mongering. These types of exercises have been going on in Texas for years, right?"

Stewart noted that during Gov. Rick Perry's tenure in 2001, the training exercise Operating Roving Sands involved more than 15,000 troops from all branches of the military, and did not attract much attention.

So what's changed?

"America elected a brutal socialist Muslim Kenyan ineffective Harvard-schooled constitutional professor agitator warlock," Stewart said, tongue planted firmly in cheek.

Norris has a more intricate theory.

"I think it is more than coincidental that the FBI director just confessed in February that the presence of ISIS can be felt in all 50 states of the U.S. and that the Pentagon is suddenly running its biggest military training exercise with every branch of the military across seven Southwestern states," Norris said.

"Whether deterrence, display of power or something more covert or devious, let's not come with any patronizing nonsense of impotence and simplicity when its origin is in Washington," he went on.

Stewart's riposte to that: "You have a choice to make, and when you make it just remind yourself — and I never thought I'd be saying this — what would Rick Perry do?

When I hear of labor disputes and plumbing problems under the same roof, I'm pretty sure I know what happened: Union job action.

There was a labor beef at a bowling alley I worked at. The Union ( Local 399, Hospital And Service Employees ) sent over a couple of their torpedoes to try to convince me to work with them to destroy the place.

One of their plans was to clog up the sewer system using radiator stop leak.

No, I do not believe its a take over Ghost, but I do believe there will be scattered tests given in this exercise to see what the reaction would be- just small ones mind you. This also proves where the mindset of Washington is now as far as concerns of its own citizenry - is it not? This is the biggest training op they ever did here. And it is training to fight here. FIght who?

Thanks for answering.

But, of course, now I have another question. Or, if not a question, then a comment on your answer. Since you say that you think this won't be the big takeover, but rather an "exercise to see what the reaction would be. Just small ones mind you," it seems that what you're setting up is a scenario in which, no matter what happens, you'll be able to say: "See? I was right."

That is, if we wake up the next day under a military dictatorship, you'll be able to say "I told you so." But if nothing happens -- if all the soldiers have their war game and then go home -- then you'll be able to say "I told you so."

So my new question is: What possible outcome to the exercise could make you say "I was wrong."

It's all true!!

A frightening foreign military intelligence directorate (GRU) report circulating in the Kremlin today states that over the past nearly 36 hours the vast intercontinental military tunnel complex constructed by the United States Air force over the past nearly 45 years was hit with two powerful nuclear explosions at its main terminuses in Colorado and Virginia used nearly exclusively by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

According to this report, this unprecedented nuclear attack began on the evening of 22 August when one of the main air pressure relief tunnels for this CIA tunnel, located at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa Florida, was forced open allowing millions of cubic feet of air to rush suddenly into the atmosphere. The unique sound of this event was captured by video [1st video left] during a baseball game being played at Tropicana Field near MacDill, though US officials blamed the “mystery noise” on a faulty sound system.

This GRU report, however, points out that Russian engineers are well acquainted with this unique sound as they work feverishly to prepare an additional 5,000 bomb shelters ordered by Prime Minister Putin this past spring to be completed by the end of 2012.

Russian engineers were, also, able to duplicate this unique sound this past March when they were called into the Ukraine to vent a number of deep underground tunnels from poison gas that had killed three people near Kiev and which was, likewise, captured by video. [2nd video left]

Within a few hours of the venting of this vast tunnel complex, this report continues, a nuclear device was detonated at its western terminus located near Trinidad Colorado with the second blast occurring nearly 12 hours later at the eastern terminus near Culpeper Virginia, and both causing powerful earthquakes felt by tens of millions of Americans.

Unbeknownst to the vast majority of the American people is that the vast military tunnel network constructed since the early 1960’s under their country has cost an estimated $40 trillion and with the exception of this attack shows no sign of abating.

The only known photo of one of the massive US Air Force boring machines used to construct this vast tunnel complex was taken by Little Skull Mountain in Nevada in December 1982 [see bottom photo] and is similar in design to those used to construct the Chunnel between England and France.

Maps of these tunnels, and the underground bases associated with them, have been compiled over the years by many independent researchers along with lists of their probable locations.

The specific tunnel attacked by these nuclear devices, this GRU report says, was being used by the CIA during their moving of their headquarters and all of their assets out of their Langley Virginia location to their new base located in Denver Colorado that was begun in 2005 for reasons still not fully explained.

The GRU speculates that the timing of this attack in hitting the western terminus first, then the eastern one, was more than likely meant to “trap and destroy” whatever the CIA was currently moving through this tunnel from Langley to Denver.

Most interesting to note is that this attack comes nearly a decade to the day after the 11 September 2011 internal war between the CIA and the US military establishment that rained destruction upon America, and then the world, but whose final battle has yet to be fought, or won, by either side.

To what the final outcome of this titanic struggle will be it is not in our knowing, other than to note that when two powerful forces like these collide, and as they have done so many times in the past, the ultimate losers end up being the American people whose delight in total ignorance as to what is happening around them continues to astound the whole world.

August 24, 2011 EU and US all rights reserved. Permission to use this report in its entirety is granted under the condition it is linked back to its original source at WhatDoesItMean.Com.

[Ed. Note: Western governments and their intelligence services actively campaign against the information found in these reports so as not to alarm their citizens about the many catastrophic Earth changes and events to come, a stance that the Sisters of Sorcha Faal strongly disagrees with in believing that it is every human beings right to know the truth. Due to our missions conflicts with that of those governments, the responses of their ‘agents’ against us has been a longstanding misinformation/misdirection campaign designed to discredit and which is addressed in the report “Who Is Sorcha Faal?”.]

According to this map they don't need tunnels under Walmart.

Well, maybe it's all tied together? The influx of Syrian terrorists can't be stopped because then it would end the influx of NATO troops as well. Distribution of military weaponry and vehicles to local law enforcement is simply a guise for the eventual utilization by NATO troops now being dispersed to subterranean Walmart tunnels... housed, fed, and sanitized (you know, the cause of all those "plumbing" issues, naturally) within those underground complexes. Furthermore, the clandestine underground tunneling undoubtedly explains this low frequency humming of the earth. And chemtrails are definitely dual-purpose cloaking technology that obscures gasseous tunnel emissions from foreign invaders and nosy American citizenry alike. I'm quite certain, at this point, that Nevada has been selected for drone development technology due to our "hostile" designation.

Their sole purpose is identification of patriotic Americans who would stand up for their country and their fellow American's Constitutional rights and defend them, for these dangerous individual must be individually and seditiously targeted for discreditation and eventual elimination if the government scheme of NATO subversion is to succeed. I recently saw a video that described the Ultron/AI program that is being managed out of Area 51 with the alien technology that is housed there.

This video indicated that the so-called Jade Helm 15 is actually a combination of some other related programs. Properly, it should be Jade Hulk, and Norse Helm/Hammer. The government had no comment about the sponsorship of this training program by well-known defense contractor Stark Industries.

And in other un-related news, a friend of mine who is LDS said the his friends father's buddy is one of the LDS apostles, and was told directly by Harry Reid that Obama is secretly LDS, not Muslim, and that he was going to enact programs to help the chosen people reach Zion, otherwise know as the great Walmart in the sky.

How far up the chain of command do such actions originate?
How in the name of God could such a seditious plot be concealed from the public, indeed from military officers sworn to protect the Constitution... the same type of officers who later join groups such as the Oath Keepers?

Find a link that explains that Ron.

When things go so far south that the military acts against its own citizenry, things have gone far wrong, and typically such actions come only as either a direct precursor or a result of opposing political leadership within the military itself and some sort of attempted military coup for power and leadership. There are NO signs of such impending actions.

Go ask some of our acting service men and women what they think of this theory. Try it. Post up the results, pro AND con, and let us know.

This is direct from that bastion of LibTard reality The Atlantic.

http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2015/05/is-the-pentagon-messing-with-texas/392390/

Texas has the rare distinction among U.S. states of having been, for a decade in the 19th century, its own nation. That history of independence, that lingering pride of sovereignty, has never really left the state, and every so often it arouses a certain suspicion of outside forces—be it Mexicans, ISIS fighters, or most frequently, the federal government. So when the U.S. military announced plans to hold an eight-week joint exercise it called Operation Jade Helm 15 in Texas and five other western states this summer, the people of Bastrop County quickly—and with the help of radio host Alex Jones and Infowars.com—saw it for what it really was: a preparation for the military to impose martial law in the Lone Star State.

It got to the point where the Army sent Lieutenant Colonel Mark Lastoria to brief residents of Bastrop—which is about 30 miles east of Austin—at a community meeting last month. The briefing did not go well. "We just want to hone our skills," Lastoria told the citizens, according to a clip of the meeting posted by the Austin American-Statesman. "We just need to get back to the basics and make sure we review on soldiers, our special operators, in all of their core tasks, and this exercise will help do that." He said the military was "invested in everybody's personal rights and their privacy." When one Bastrop resident spoke up to oppose the exercise and referred to it as "a martial-law program," the packed room cheered.

Lastoria tried to win the crowd back with an appeal to patriotism and pride in the military:

I would just ask everybody not to mix apples and pumpkins, ok? Let's do it that way.

This institution right here has been around for over 240 years. I have transition in this uniform, various shades of it, under five presidents—all of it peacefully. You may have issues with the federal government. You may have issues with the administration. So be it. But this institution has been with you for over 240 years. Period.

Some in the crowd applauded, but not everyone was convinced. When Lastoria explicitly told one man that the exercise was "not a preparation for martial law," the skeptical Texan (who was holding a dictionary the size of a small child) replied: "That's what you say."

I think you need to concentrate on finding indisputable proof of these conspiracies.
I think you need to keep your eyes open to the possibility that this is NOT some clandestine martial law initiative.
I think in most cases simple explanations are more likely to be true, even though they do NOT support theories of some ulterior motive of the U.S. military.
I think laws such as the Patriot Act and NDAA came from government POLITICIANS, not military, as a direct result of a paranoid populace willing to sacrifice their rights for some illusion of safety. You get what you vote for.
And lastly, I think in localized events and individual interactions it is possible, as frequently demonstrated, for certain individuals or limited groups of individuals to betray our trust and carry out illegal acts of aggression and rights violations due to extreme circumstances and/or individual moral failings.
We know that some government entities DO carry out improper actions, as evidenced by the occasional illumination of such things, which generally DO come to light because of the actions of concerned citizens within those agencies who are committed to uphold our freedoms and indeed our constitution. Then those people are generally held accountable for their actions in some way or another. To propose that such a large-scale imposition of martial law could be underway without spoken opposition by a variety of outspoken individuals within those organizations is unlikely to say the least.

I watched the national news folks belittle the govenor of Texas last night, similar to the flack Ron is getting here. We need to all wake up to reality. This Jade Helm is not to overthrow the patriots or anycrap like that. It is training for the very near future when the dollar collaspes to nothing, because it is coming. In short fighting HERE. THe Walmarts closed also coincide with the areas of intensity of these Military ops coming up. Now tunnels below some of those walmarts have been discovered. A joint venture of NSA, DHS and many other FED agencys have been building these. There are fully stocked literal citys supposedly hidden in these tunnels. All over the south these tunnels have been constructed. Info of tunnels in Colorado and west as well. These Walmarts were all very high money making stores for the chain. Rons alleged facts

It happens that the walmarst closed across the country are also in the operation zone of Jade Helm 15..

Those are facts and walmarts well know association with DHS is also fact.

Okay, why did a Walmart in Florida also close?

Your evidence is what is called circumstantial. Sort of like saying toilet paper cause cancer. Proof of that is the fact that everyone that gets cancer used toilet paper.

Saying Walmart is associated with DHS not a fact, it is a conclusion, based on other facts, which you have not identified.

I once proved that chalk was the single most important safety device ever adopted by climbers, using facts from Accidents in North American Mountaineering. After all most climbing accidents occur in the warm and sweaty summer months. And most accidents involve a slip and resulting fall. Couple this with the fact that there are no documented cases of a dead climber being found with chalk on his/her hands and the conclusion is inescapable.

But as many people (should) know, correlation and cause and effect are two completely different things. These conspiracy theorists capitalize on ignorance and a remarkable lack of critical thinking.

I don't know Ron, but if someone has to hit rock bottom before realizing they need help, I think he is there.

Where does modern warfare take place?
Door to door in the streets of modern foreign cities, often of similar cnstruction to our own.
Who are they figiting?
Foreign military and nonmilitary combatants, who may be dressed in anything includding local clothing and/or military uniforms.
Why would we train them to fight in tunnels and subways when those dont exist in (insert hostile country here)?
Well Bob, you just never know when where or under what conditions our servicemen may have to fight next. We try to be ready for anything, so we give them the best broad-spectrum training we can.

Did they not drag Hussein out of some rathole tunnel? Did we not face difficulty separating hostile and peaceful individuals in foriegn lands? Are we not currently fighting in modern cities as well as outdoor environments?

Would you not be offended by substandard training for our military that left them woefully unprepared for the reality of todays combat conditions?

I get it. The government has f*#ked up in the past.
Martial law? Combat against our own citizens on a large scale like this? Pretty far-fetched.

Are you suggesting that the 2.2 million members of our armed forces, including reserves, the majority of which are in non-combat roles and by far the VAST majority of which are U.S. citizens themselves, are going to roll into town to take over entire states and/or regions of states, placing them under martial law? Does that not sound a bit ridiculous to you?
To what end? What's the benefit? Is this some sort of disarmament scheme? Is it more insidious than that?

The obvious threat of terrorism is already here. I think they'd be more interested in disrupting the normal "American" way of life, in a public setting, involving significant cultural events and/or landmarks. American symbology, if you will. Any type of "incident" involving acts of terrorism could most likely be easily downplayed as an unfortunate training accident during an active military training exercise, no? No press, no vivid imagery, just a great big "meh" from the American public.

Thousands join US-led war games in Jordan
Around 10,000 troops from 18 countries including several Gulf states are participating in the two-week military drills.
06 May 2015 13:16 GMT | War & Conflict, Middle East, Jordan, ISIL

Thousands of soldiers from 18 countries are taking part in military drills in Jordan jointly overseen by the US army, amid a US-led coalition strikes against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group.
Around 10,000 troops are participating in the fifth "Eager Lion" annual war games, which will last for two weeks.
Since the last drill, ISIL has seized large areas of Syria and Iraq and is seen as a threat to the stability of Jordan, a Western ally.
Jordan's Brigadier General Fahad al-Damen, in charge of joint training, told reporters that the rise of extremist groups mandates cooperation "to fight all aspects and types of terrorism."
US major general Rick Mattson, meanwhile, told reporters in the Jordanian capital Amman that the military drills "have nothing to do with what is currently happening in the region."
"The more we work together the stronger we are."
Mattson said the drill will include responses to conventional and unconventional threats, including border security.
As well as troops from the US and Jordan, military contingents from several nearby Arab states and troops from France, Italy and Pakistan will take part in drills in the Jordanian desert.
The exercises will focus on challenges such as "combating terrorism" and border security, said Jordanian Brigadier General Fhad al-Damin.
Jordan has intensified its air raids against ISIL since the armed group burned alive one of its pilots who crashed in Syria earlier this year, but there are fears its participation in US-led strikes could drag the kingdom into nearby conflicts.

The funny part is that when nothing happens this summer Ron will claim it was because watchful citizens like He, Bundy and Chuck Norris were able to make 'em behave and that he was right all along.

No, I don't think Ron will claim that the presence of armed and watchful citizens stopped the US military from taking over part of the country. What he said upthread when I asked him about this was that it was possible nothing would happen, but what that would mean was that the exercise was a test run for a military takeover, rather than the real thing.

Which is to say, no matter what happens or doesn't happen, Ron can say "See? I was right!"

Arguing with him is pointless. There is nothing you can say to him or show him that will change his mind, because for him, this is not a matter of fact, but a matter of belief.

Look at it another way. If Ron could show you credible evidence of a plot, you'd change your mind, right? Or if something happened during the exercise that showed it was actually aimed at getting the US Army ready to attack US citizens, you'd be the first to say "I was wrong." But if you say in advance that no matter what happens you will never change your mind, then you've entered the realm of religious belief and talking to you is pointless.

I love it when folks put words in my mouth. Saves me from having to consume oxygen to think for myself. Also love it when people who can't bother to read the stream of consciousness in a thread but stilll compelled to opine and expound on what they have misconstrued.

I have condemned the over the top gun culture and gun violence in America.
Kids shoot kids every 36 hours in America and that is crazy. But I never said all gun owners are crazy. If another poster construes that I said all gun owners are crazy then perhaps they feel a subconscious guilt over the reality of the avoidable violence. I grew up with guns and know the difference between responsible use and ownership and bat sh#t crazy misinterpretation of the 2nd Ammendment.

I have said that Palestinians deserve peace, justice and security too. I have never said kill all the joos. Never! And yet people have misconstrued meaning and determined that I have said such an abhorrent thing. It is there problem not mine. I have kids who are of noble Palestinian descent and I have many family members that are faithful and practicing Jews. Racism is not a core value in my life.

I scoffed at the notion of a rag tag mop of brigands standing off the Military in Bunkerstan.
I explained the difference between the pop guns of the militants and an Apache attack helicopter. I called for those militiamen to be spanked on their bare butts not slaughtered in a drone strike.

Walmart could be a front for DHS. Or they could be busting unions. Or their plumbing could be cheap chinese crap, like the rest of their products.

The military is conducting an exercise. It could be training for foreign combat. It could be training to thwart domestic terrorism. It could also be a test run for hostile takeovers of various portions of the united states when the gun nutz finally form a cohesive band driven by a particular consensus that they are finally willing to answer the question of when it becomes justified to start shooting at their own tyrannical government.

Inconsistencies abound, both in the reported facts surrounding these events and the interpretations of those watching and interpreting those inconsistently reported facts. Inconsistently at that, I might add.

The possible consequences range from nothing at all to complete and utter annihilation of the current United States government and our Constitution, depending on who you ask and whether or not they shop at Walmart.

In any case, Ron has given us a range of possible scenarios, and indicated his belief that these events are related; BUT at the same time acknowledging that they may, in fact, prove out to be nothing at all and completely irrelevant to each other. Simply his way of gently urging us to pay attention to our government.

That about right? Or am I waaay off?

They created $18 Trillion in debt, they started 2 illegal wars, they are working behind the scenes to rig the system for the Corporations and the rich, and take away rights and wages from the rest of us.

Millions are spent to spread disinformation, they have think tanks with teams of psychologists researching how to manipulate minds, how to use religion and wedge issues, how to recruit suckers to vote for them, how to rig elections.. it's endless, they have every base covered.

That's fair Ron.
Honestly, without the sarcasm, I think the military is training for future combat. I don't think they're training for action against our own citizenry, I think they're using the resources available to them to carry out a large-scale exercise. If they were running it in a foreign country, then it would make sense to use those surroundings and dress some of their trainees in those civilian clothing. But they're not. They're here, and that answers the part of why they're dressing in our civilian clothing.

How do you train with your carry weapon? Do you just go out and shoot at some fixed targets and call it a day? Or do you work up some kind of realistic scenario that could play out on the street so you can be prepared? You ever practice weapon retention? Multiple targets? Targets at different distances and positions? Drawing from concealment? Tactical reloads? Tap rack mag switch? Train for what you expect, right?

Walmart, o Walmart. Facial recognition? Ok, I could maybe buy that. It's definitely a part of Facebook. Kinda goes up there with the govt collecting our phone records. I don't like it. I'm not going to do anything about it though, except maybe write my congressman at some point. Tunnels under Walmart used to house foreign troops and/or warfare supplies? No, sorry. I'm not buying it, even if there are a couple with existing subsurface excavation. I'm far more likely to buy into a Walmart conspiracy that says they're breaking labor unions, or just plain cheap as#@&%es working the system to maximize their profits. Now if every Walmart in the country mysteriously closed up overnight, well that might be slightly different in terms of wondering WTF. Still not sure I'd jump to the same conclusions indicated here and in the related google searches to Jade Helm.
We're not in so bad a shape in this country that we need to fear martial law. The signs just aren't there. There's nothing in it for us, for our govt, for our military.
Still, for its size, complexity, and logistics I think it bears a little scrutiny to watch the training op. Mainly for two reasons: 1. Are we training effectively? Do they accomplish what they're hoping? 2. Just how well DOES the military do when dealing with locals and/or the type of incidents that could occur during such a large-scope exercise? Not sinister plotting type of actions, but the normal oh-sh#t-someone-hit-a-yugo-with-a-humvee-at-starbucks kind of crap. It happens.

So there. It's interesting. Still not convinced it's nefarious.

The Sheep and the Goats

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

It is truly impressive what sort of concoctions people can create in their heads and them spew onto the web, and the media at large, as truth.

I have been working for my company on a reclamation project in Arizona - in a very small town. A number of citizens have accused us of night mining for gold (instead of, you know, cleaning up the area for the betterment of the community and the state...) - even though A) no mining has occurred in the area for almost 40 years and B) no gold occurs in the area, or for at least 50-100 miles in any direction.

Our country is in big trouble, but perhaps not for the reasons discussed in this thread:

The Pentagon's Response to Ted Cruz Regarding Jade Helm 15
Posted: 05/10/2015 8:54 am EDT Updated: 05/10/2015 7:59 pm EDT

Recently, Senator Ted Cruz from Texas asked the Pentagon to clarify its intentions with military exercises in Central Texas called "Jade Helm 15." The Pentagon's response follows:

Dear Senator Cruz:

Thank you for your inquiry into whether the Jade Helm 15 military exercise is the first wave of a federal takeover of Texas, the Trojan Horse, as it were, of the end of sovereignty in the Lone Star State. Our response, contrary to the long tradition of official correspondence and military bureaucracy, is concise: no.

But that's just what you would expect us to say, isn't it?

Perhaps, then, you would prefer not an official proclamation but a reasoned answer. As a master debater in college (Princeton, right?), you surely appreciate the reliability of logic, your public statements over the past few years notwithstanding. If you are disinclined to take the United States Armed Forces at their word when we promise no ill intentions towards Texas, then perhaps your considerable and vaunted intellectual powers, which once posited the regrowth of hymens as a guard against unauthorized incursions in domestic affairs, could be swayed by incontrovertible fact.

I know you think highly of our capabilities. Why else would you advocate for a short war with Iran? If we are indeed that powerful, we could probably launch an attack from any of the 15 U.S. military bases already within Texas' borders. While Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher may have found it necessary, even attractive, to invade countries that can easily be overrun, the present DoD considers such lopsided contests at best unsporting.

As someone who was not born within the borders of this country, it might interest you to know that Texas is already part of the United States. In fact, Texas has twice joined the Union. The first time your adopted state joined the USA in 1845 it set in motion events that led to the Mexican-American War. Later, when Union troops conquered the Southern rebellion, Texas rejoined the Union. It is not, therefore, farfetched to think that Texas' relationship to the rest of the United States could involve war, but please also keep in mind that when we refer to the United States of America, Texas is being implicitly included. We thought about calling it the United States of America and Texas, but we were afraid people might think Texas was a retrograde backwater of reactionary lunatics who think Moses was a Founding Father and laugh at you. This is way better.

Please also consider there are a great many things about Texas and Texan culture that could be threatened by another unnecessary armed conflict between Texas and the United States. We like Texas barbecue. That Green Beret who carried the flag out for the Texas Longhorn football team? That was pretty cool. The wildflowers along the highways are no joke. The late Texan Chris Kyle, the "American sniper," is a hero to many. Texas gave the world Lyndon Johnson, a staggering gift for which America was perhaps not entirely prepared. Without the Lone Star State, the Western swing band Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys would have appeared under the performing name Robert Wills and His Playboys, which is ghastly, or not have existed at all, a possibility that DoD has officially classified as "too awful to contemplate". And we really dig the self-awareness, the love of self that, while occasionally metastasizing into paranoid delusions such as those that motivated your original query, also make Texas a culture with an indelible sense of place.

But, we reiterate, that place is in the United States. On previous visits, we noticed that many of your residents enjoy Social Security and Medicare (you're welcome), volunteer for the armed services, treasure federal parks, wildlife preserves, and wilderness areas, and earn and spend currency backed by the full faith and credit of the United States. With a quick Internet search, I also learned that nearly a third of Texas' total revenue is from Federal funding. In fact, millions of your schoolchildren pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America almost every day. And unlike yourself, they apparently mean it.

There is a fundamental misapprehension that we feel is at the root of your query about our intentions was revealed in a recent comment you made to the press.

We are assured it is a military training exercise. I have no reason to doubt those assurances, but I understand the reason for concern and uncertainty, because when the federal government has not demonstrated itself to be trustworthy in this administration, the natural consequence is that many citizens don't trust what it is saying.

If, Senator Cruz, you believe that the United States military is a political tool of its civilian leadership, you have reached a conclusion unsupported by fact, history and good sense. The troops swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States. To besmirch their loyalty to the country, even in the service of making hackneyed political points in the Republican primary, does not make you a patriot, but a partisan. Even a Princeton and Harvard Law man should know the difference.

Also, it makes you the rudest Canadian we've ever run across.

Sincerely Yours,

Secretary Ashton Carter

God has been making the Mid West and South suffer more because of Obama's Israel Policies. No need to believe in Climate Change, It's all part of the Bible's plan of Armageddon because of Obama.

Michele Bachmann: Thanks Obama For Bringing On The Apocalypse

Former Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) expressed a mixture of condemnation and appreciation toward President Barack Obama for, in her words, bringing the world to end times.

"We need to cry out to a Holy God," Bachmann said on Jan Markell's "Understanding the Times" radio show over the weekend. "This is coming faster than anyone can see."

“Barack Obama is intent, it is his number one goal, to ensure that Iran has a nuclear weapon," she said. "Why? Why would you put the nuclear weapon in the hands of madmen who are Islamic radicals?"

Bachmann, however, then seemed to approve of the President moving mankind into "the midnight hour."

"We get to be living in the most exciting time in history," she said, urging fellow Christians to "rejoice."

"Jesus Christ is coming back. We, in our lifetimes potentially, could see Jesus Christ returning to Earth, the Rapture of the Church."

"These are wonderful times," she concluded.

“We have very little time, in my opinion, left before the second return of Christ. That’s good news."

Gee Ron: Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Your obsession with ammunition specifically designed to kill people - not to mention your fascination with noise suppressors and large capacity magazines for automatic weapons is merely an extension of your purely innocent interest in shooting paper targets.

Also, this whole conspiracy by the entire U.S. military to... what is it again - shut down Wal-Marts? - is merely intended to give us a free preview of the post-apocalyptic novel that you're now writing.

I hope you can forgive me for having so unfairly misjudged you.

2011 video Ron.

Alex Jones....he said Alex Jones, tee hee.

Alex attended one of my media production classes years ago, just as he was getting started. Based on our discussions then and the programs he produced since, I'd say Alex puts a teacup of truth per gallon of fear, adrenalin, bravado and mysterious conjecture to produce an interesting brew. I put it with MUFON, Ghost Hunters and WWE.

BTW, that we're all not currently living in UN managed work camps as slaves to the international cartel of New World Order overlords shows we should take his predicitons with a bit of salt.

Sadly Alex Jones tries to take the fear mongering of Fox News to new and crazy heights with everything he reports. This really diminishes his credibility with important issues he does handle. A good example is the expansion of FEMA. This agency has grown tremendously since it was formed and now includes more departments and executive powers than a typical emergency management government department. While I wonder if FEMA truly needs all the powers it has been given I can't take the leap Alex Jones does in claiming it's the new population control wing of the New World Order government.

Alex Jones also raises serious issues in international banking but jumps to World Domination before you can blink. Ordinary people should be concerned how banks are being regulated by OUR government. The Wall Street bailout that was rammed through Congress didn't sit well with me but I understood the very sensitive nature of time involved in the crisis. Alex Jones linked this with the Rockefellers taking over the world and sprinkles on a little world wide population control just to add some spice.

Nwo2 why does my opinion of your crusade matter co much to you?

That which you fear has been known by many myself included for decades.
And yet we havent been hearded off to holding camps en mass now have we.

Few people will be lining up to be "ported" as you intimate. Nor will most people choose to be chipped in any part of their anatomies.

What should concern you is that people don't have to be asked "where do you want your rfid chip implanted" Chip tech has advanced to where the trackers no longer have to ask permision. Those pesky chips could be in the clothes you just bought, the food you just ate, the beer you just drank or the flu shot you just had. The "Central Scrutinizer" can and will track who ever they want where ever they want whether the trackee wants them to or not.

It is all possible but rather costly to implement on a wide scale. What they really want is to sell us more potato chips and deodorant and vaccinations. They want market share not slaves.

There are a whole lot of things to be worried about out in the universe. But perseverating on forced implantations is a kin to waiting for Obama to take all the guns away. It coulld happen but probably won't..

U.S. honeybee losses soar over last year, USDA finds

By Carey Gillam

May 13 (Reuters) - Honey bees, critical agents in the pollination of key U.S. crops, disappeared at a staggering rate over the last year, according to a new government report that comes as regulators, environmentalists and agribusinesses try to reverse the decline.

Losses of managed honey bee colonies hit 42.1 percent from April 2014 through April 2015, up from 34.2 percent for 2013-2014, and the second-highest annual loss to date, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a report issued on Wednesday.

"Such high colony losses in the summer and year-round remain very troubling," Jeff Pettis, a USDA senior entomologist, said in a statement.

The results are based on survey responses from about 6,100 beekeepers managing about 400,000 colonies, or roughly 15.5 percent of U.S. bee colonies.

The 2014-15 decline was down from the 45 percent fall in 2012-2013 but well above the other three years of annual measurements and well above the 18.7 percent benchmark considered economically unsustainable, the USDA said.

Honey bees are needed to pollinate plants that produce a quarter of the food consumed by Americans. Beekeepers travel the country with managed hives to help the process.

Over the past few years, bees have been dying at a rate the U.S. government says must be addressed, and the issue has become politically charged.

Beekeepers, environmental groups and some scientists blame a class of insecticide known as neonicotinoids, or neonics, used on crops such as corn as well as on plants used in lawns and gardens. Some lawn and garden retailers have cut the use of neonics.

Bayer, Syngenta and others that sell neonic products say mite infestations and other factors are the cause.

A subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture is holding a hearing on Wednesday, and the White House has formed a task force to study the issue. The Environmental Protection Agency is requiring a series of studies on neonic effects on bees and plans to release the first in a series of assessments later this year.

Pettis said on Wednesday that the high summer losses weakened the argument that mites are behind the large losses as the mites are most active in winter. He said pesticide exposure was likely at least one factor.

"The bees should be surviving better, but the numbers say otherwise," he said.

This is the first time the USDA has released information about summer month bee losses, though it has gathered the information since 2010-2011.

The 2014-2015 season was the first that summer losses exceeded winter, at 27.4 percent and 23.1 percent, respectively. Winter losses the prior year were 23.7 percent and summer losses 19.8 percent.

Bayer CropScience called the report "good news," citing the winter loss decline, in a statement issued on Tuesday. Bayer said summer losses were "expected and common," and experts did not agree on what was a "normal range for summer losses."

A full report will be published later this year, the USDA said.

Fox News -Always? Fair and Balanced

(It means that their overall quality is at best fair, and that their "news" is balanced with a strong dose of commentary, to make sure the viewer gets the talking points clearly.

You can inject one under your skin and no one will ever notice. Using short-range radio frequency identification (RFID) signals, it can transmit your identity as you pass through a security checkpoint or walk into a football stadium. It can help you buy groceries at Wal-Mart. In a worst-case scenario – if you are kidnapped in a foreign country, for example – it could save your life.

....

But is it ethical?

Like any tech advancement, there are downsides. Concerns about the wrong people accessing personal information and tracking you via the chips have swirled since the FDA approved the first implantable microchip in 2004.

Naam and Pang both cited potential abuses, from hacking into the infrastructure and stealing your identity to invading your privacy and knowing your driving habits. There are questions about how long a felon would have to use a tracking implant. And, an implant, which has to be small and not use battery power -- might not be as secure as a heavily encrypted smartphone.

So where DID the dirt go?

I've done some simple calculations on the subject. Assume the tunnels are 12' wide X 8' high (to let traffic pass), then 1 ft. of tunnel = 96 cubic feet. At 78#/cubic ft, 1 foot of tunnel dirt weighs 7500# ±. A 53 ft semi can legally carry about 40,000#, so if the tunnel dirt is carried away by Walmart delivery trucks, each truck could carry about 5.34 ft of tunnel dirt.

The beauty of this system is the delivery trucks don't return empty to a Walmart distribution center and Walmart owns the trucks, so the dirt can be moved secretly. 1000 ft of secret tunnel would generate only 187 loads of dirt, which could be secretly piled next to the distribution center. But how long are the tunnels? If they are for storage only they can be any length. But my understanding is that they actually connect Walmart stores.

So, if stores in a city are 5 miles apart it would take 4944 semi loads of dirt be removed. This is very possible! Now all we need to do is look for a pile of dirt, approximately 2,534,400 cubic feet, which is a pile about 400 feet in diameter X 62 feet high (assuming an angle of repose of 37°).

But there's a problem!!!!

We need concrete to reinforce the tunnel walls, ceiling, and floor. If we have 6" thick concrete walls and floor, a 5 mile tunnel would require 19,555 cubic yards of cement. At 10 yards/truck, this would take 1955 concrete truck loads. I guess they would do this at night.

Be very scared!!!!

I've just been informed that Mitt Romney's secret plan to annihilate the American population will commence just as soon as another Republican becomes Commander-In-Chief.

Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus (like that's his real name), has ordered the Joint Chiefs of Staff to prepare for operations commencing at 1201 hours January 20, 2017.

Sources indicate that even now US Infantrymen have begun the process of converting their ammunition to "dum-dum" bullets in order to make the deaths of each American as painful as possible. They needed the ice-pick inventory of six Walmarts in order to obtain the needed implements.

Once each citizen has been eliminated, the empty continent will be populated with ChiComms and Mexican gangbangers.

Don't forget that all of this is supposed to be a conspiracy by the U.S. Armed Forces to take away the murder weapons of Ron and his lunatic buddies - starting, of course in the least socially progressive states.

Now, I could be mistaken here, but I don't believe that the U.S. Military is noted for its leftist sympathies, and I would be fascinated to learn of a single occasion where these guys (and gals) have collectively betrayed their sworn oath to defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

Now, it appears as though Ron works in a store that sells guns. If I am mistaken here, feel free to ignore the following paragraph. The rest stands.

It seems that about the only logical connection to this joke of a conspiracy theory is to provide an opportunity for Ron to suck up to his boss by boosting firearm sales and incidentally collecting commissions for selling assault weapons to mentally unstable lunatics like himself.

I suppose I should feel sorry for Ron, but I find it difficult to find sympathy for someone who wants to destroy Democracy in the U.S. and replace it with nothing better than a nightmare world polluted by armed militia groups fighting everyone in sight and killing countless harmless human beings in pursuit of their sick fantasies.

I attempted to explain my concerns about Ron A's paranoid insanity and this ridiculous, but strange & paranoid thread to Heidi as light after-dinner conversation tonight, concerning how far ST has deteriorated as a climbing thread.

I also attempted to explain how many posters had mocked the opening posts, but despite the widespread derision from respected ST members: Ron’s paranoia kept his fellow paranoids posting weird paranoid posts.

Her response was:
If those people are that stupid, then it’s stupid to be concerned about people that stupid.

I presume that also applies to the paranoid duck.

So------we jest want to share that this is: Maybe the most ever stupid & paranoid thread infecting ST.

Congrats to Ron A & the paranoid duck!

That's where you are wrong Jonnyrig. Neither Bob nor I said the majority of gun owners are (fill in the blank..). Au contraire it has been the staunchest defenders of the 2nd Ammendment that have played the guilt by association card. What I and others decry is the sensless and avoidable carnage that is wrought on innocent people by gun weilding maniacs. Defending gun ownership is one thing. Not condemning the slaughter is another thing entirely. To watch the daily story of senseless violence at gunpoint and not think there must be a better more rational approach than a have at it free for all is crazy. To assume that people like me are advocating round ups and confiscation is absurd.

By the way after 7 or so years of Obama unconstitutional reign of terror how many guns have been "rounded up". Never mind all of America but have any of the gun owners on ST actually had their guns rounded up and confiscated? I'd really like to know.

Interesting that saint philo of dung seemingly wants to make it harder on all those immigrants, the poverty class and working poor by closing the stores where their coins get them the most.. But saying you hate walmarts is sooo trendy isn't it.

The reason why it's so "cheap" is that is that much of their crap is is built by third world laborers toiling in sh#t working and environmental conditions. And the American employees aren't prospering either. Taxpayers are paying for subsidies for the working poor employed in many places, such as Wally World, where management cuts as many corners as possible and workers can't afford many necessities, let alone a good quality of life..

So someone is paying the costs--dearly--but not the good old u s of a consumers, "thankfully."

Vatican Signs Treaty Recognizing The State Of Palestine

Read More: http://www.trueactivist.com/vatican-signs-treaty-recognizing-state-palestine/

The Vatican announced this week that they will be formally recognizing the state of Palestine, with a treaty that shifts diplomatic allegiance from the Palestinian Liberation Organization to the state of Palestine.

Reverend Federico Lombardi, a spokesman for the Vatican told the Associated Press that the new treaty was in fact a recognition of the state of Palestine. “Yes, it’s a recognition that the state exists,” he said.

Until now the population of Palestine has been under the control of Israel, and puppet committees that are set up to pose as representatives for the people.

Politicians in Israel are already condemning the treaty, as it works against their interests of occupying the Palestinian territory.

“This move does not promote the peace process and distances the Palestinian leadership from returning to direct and bilateral negotiations. Israel will study the agreement and will consider its steps accordingly,” a representative with the Israeli foreign ministry told the AP.

Earlier this week, we reported that Pope Francis made some extremely strong comments about how powerful people profit from war. This new move is the latest in a long line of unprecedented statements by the Pope, possibly signaling a shift in the politics of the Vatican.

Though the issues in the Middle East may seem complicated with how drawn out the peace talks are and how much the media confuses the issue, things really are not that difficult. It is important to address the corruption that exists within the Zionist government or else the international business interests will continue to use Israel and its people for their own imperialistic needs. They are the ones who are creating and profiting from these conflicts, not the Israeli or Palestinian people. The Israeli people are forced into military lives and convinced to fight a war that isn’t theirs, while the Palestinians are sold out and manipulated by their “leaders” as well. Both the Palestinian and Israeli people are honest, decent human beings that just want peace. The average citizens of both groups are tired of the fighting and really wish to live in harmony with their fellow human beings.

What is the official term for pointing out flaws in logic and inconsistencies in beliefs?

House Republican: Pope should stay out of politics

By Steve Benen
It was just five months ago that Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) said he wants leaders from the faith community to “rise up and engage America in the public square with Biblical values.” The likely Republican presidential candidate added, “The time has come for pastors to lead the way and reset the course of American governance.”

This is not an uncommon sentiment in GOP politics. As the party continues to move sharply to the right, Republican hostility towards church-state separation has become the norm. In culture-war debates over gay rights and reproductive rights, for example, the right routinely argues that policymakers should heed the appeals from religious leaders.

More generally, conservatives express alarm about the left trying to push voices from the faith community “out of the public square.” It’s these religious leaders, the GOP argues, that should help guide public debate.

With this in mind, it seemed almost miraculous to see this Politico piece yesterday.
After Pope Francis moved to recognize a Palestinian state, some gung-ho defenders of Israel suggested the pontiff should stick to preaching and stay out of politics.

“It’s interesting how the Vatican has gotten so political when ultimately the Vatican ought to be working to lead people to Jesus Christ and salvation, and that’s what the Church is supposed to do,” said Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.), a hawkish defender of Israel.
Note, a variety of lawmakers expressed public disagreement – and in some cases, deep disappointment – with Pope Francis’s move towards officially recognizing Palestinians. And to be sure, there’s nothing wrong with a spirited debate, with some American policymakers on one side and the Catholic leader on the other.

But that’s not what Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) said, exactly. Rather, he suggested Pope Francis should stay out of the debate altogether – the Vatican can focus on spiritual matters, the South Carolinian argued, and stay out of politics.

Imagine that. When church leaders condemn abortion, congressional Republicans shout, “Amen.” When the pope enters a foreign policy debate, suddenly we effectively hear, “Mind your own business, padre.”

Indeed, when President Reagan worked with Pope John Paul II on a variety of issues, Republicans saw it as an important diplomatic partnership. But now that it’s President Obama and Pope Francis who are often aligned – on climate change, on Iran nuclear talks, on diplomacy with Cuba, on economic inequality, on pay equity for women – and some GOP officials suddenly aren’t pleased at all with the Vatican’s interest in contemporary politics.

Over at Daily Kos, Laura Clawson added, “Republicans have shown time and time again that they have no problem whatsoever with religion in politics. Now we know how particular they are about whose religion and whose politics. Catholic leaders in politics are fine as long as they’re threatening to deny communion to Democrats over abortion, but let a pope talk about economic inequality and poverty and suddenly Republicans discover that they’d really prefer it if religious leaders would keep quiet and let politicians speak for them.”

Francis will deliver a speech to a joint session of Congress in the fall, at the invitation of House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). It’s bound to be interesting.

5) Not me. I did once, in my youth, punch a guy in the face.
6) Never. Did find a gun in my garbage can once; my nutty housemate, D. E. Bear Sandahl, took it apart and couldn't get it together again, so he threw it in the trash.
7) No weapon so no accident. I didn't let my daughter play at the houses of friends who owned guns.

So I guess, from this sample of one, Obama isn't confiscating anything.

The Executive branch has lied about so many things over these last years a
reasonable person feels safe to bet that they are lying about jadehelm.

Everyone is asking why do it in Texas when there are uncounted mud brick
villages in Syria and Iraq full of ISIS thugs? Why not visit some of them
for a quick smash and bang bang operation then back to the aircraft carrier
for beers.

Oh wait the president just ordered one op just like that over the weekend.
Fantastic. Do some more.

Yo ho! Dingus. Could not find any data on the google self driving
SPY cars defensive system you mentioned up thread. During riots or other
civil disturbances most would agree computer controlled guns are a very
bad idea in cities.

Do not ask 'What happens when a self-driving car meets a road rage driver.
Imagine you are in a self driving car and it takes you into a riot etc.

Hey Ronnie: time to take your meds. If you seriously believe that Obama is actually expecting to get the U.S. Armed forces help him to impose a military government upon the U.S. and is being thwarted by a parade of heavily armed paranoid lunatics like yourself, well...

there's no cure for stupid.

Oh, yeah - are you planning to continue advertising gun prices on Supertopo?

That's pretty sick, even for you, Ronald.

You know - sometimes the answer is staring you in the face, and you completely miss it...

The firearms industry is a $30 billion plus yearly market that continues to grow every year, and one person who is profiting from these sales is someone who is nothing more than a cheap hustler by the name of Ronnie Anderson.

Most people who are capable of objective thinking would agree that it just plain dumb to uncritically accept the claims of someone who directly profits from the goods he is attempting to sell, especially on a climbing forum like Supertopo.

Oh, and another thing - there's two reasons the military doesn't habitually blow these militia ninnies out of their socks during manufactured confrontations:

1) The U.S. Armed Forces are understandably reluctant to shoot U.S. citizens merely because they have a weak grasp upon reality and, furthermore,

2) Killing civilians, especially women and children, is a guaranteed way to attract even more sympathizers to any nitwit cause.

gee, johnnyrig - if you had read earlier posts of mine, you would recall that I'm not unacquainted with firearms, and am actually a pretty good shot.

Furthermore, I've never criticized those who use firearms for target shooting or hunting purposes.

AND I watched in horror as the Patriot Act legislation was rammed through Congress by the Dubya Bush gang, and passed what was it? unanimously? unread. Again, the erosion of your rights originated during the Bush Administration, and I don't recall you or Ronnie objecting at the time.

Regardless, where my quarrel with Ronnie comes from is his love affair with large capacity magazine automatic weapons complete with additionally lethal accessories and his apparent eagerness to use them against the very people who are least likely to represent any physical danger to him.

His thought processes are delusional, and regardless of your personal feelings, the fact remains that he is making a living out of pimping weapons that are designed solely to kill people.

You're welcome to your opinion about Ron, but if I want to nominate someone as a respected spokesperson for the defence of Democracy, his name is going to be close to the bottom of the list.

Jonnyrig....less restriction? There is already virtually no restriction when compared to the rest of the civilized world. Oh....but we're not civilized, we live by the law of the west. Shoot first and answer questions later. I only wish that more gun nuts showed some evidence of multiple ball possession. Ron is the exception....it would take more than one slug to take him down.

Mad-duck & Ron. I've spent the last 25 years as an outdoor gear sales representative selling gear & clothing from various small companies in the Northern Rockies. The most stable company I’ve worked for, makes water-filters for outdoor use, emergency & survival preparedness, since the 1930’s, and has also expanded to lightweight stoves & freeze-dried foods for the same markets.

I have had the joy of working with a lot of wonderful outdoor retailers, including stores that sell hunting gear, and the misery of working with various paranoid survivalists who somehow managed to convince my employers that they were legitimate retailers.

I’ve been in their paranoid survivalist stores & homes, talked with the paranoids, and sympathized with them, and I do now need to share that I don’t miss working with them, since I’ve retired.

Those of you that live in anti-government paranoia & fear every day in every way, are seriously disturbed.

edit: Here is some factoids, did you know that in 2008 there were only 149 known militias across the country? ANd do you know that there are now over 1400 recognized militias, and another 1000 or so unknowns? And some of them are huge. I wonder why so many seem to think the govt has turned into that tyrannical monster the Forefathers of our nation warned us about?
Gee 2008 was the watershed moment eh. Since the degradations of American Civil Liberties really went ballistic during the 8 year reign of GWBush and nary a peep from the right wing extremists then about atrocities like the Department of Homeland Offense and the Patriot Act I'm wondering what changed in 2008?

Considering the well established fact that the U.S. military has held many war games and training excercies on American Soil for generations -training for any number of diverse scenarios they may encounter- why is it so hard to imagine that's all that is going on?
Would it be preferable if they held these excercises somewhere overseas where it would cost ten times more and be susceptible to being spied on by enemies intent on discovering tactics, strategies and technologies?

And maybe, just maybe the Feds bought up all the hollow point ammo to keep it out of the hands of the thousands of militant groups that have exploded on to the scene since Toby / Kunta Kentie went to Washington and took up residence in the Maison Blanche seven years ago.

edit: Here is some factoids, did you know that in 2008 there were only 149 known militias across the country? ANd do you know that there are now over 1400 recognized militias, and another 1000 or so unknowns? And some of them are huge. I wonder why so many seem to think the govt has turned into that tyrannical monster the Forefathers of our nation warned us about?

Now why would a law abiding gun owner want billions of hollow point rounds returned to open market? Hollow points are not meant for hunting (unless it's a charging rhino). And they seem unnecessarily pricey for target shooting. So why want them back? Hollow points are meant for manslaughter and murder not sport. Where in the 2nd Amendment does it cover possession of bullets meant to maximize damage to a human body? Can Joe NRA readily purchase armor piercing shells? What about depleted uranium rounds? Are there any limits?
