The tour is ending in my town and going by my house about a block away. Should be exciting going by three times- But I also was offered a ride in one of the follow cars. Not sure which would be more fun. MY best friend is one of the major sponsors and has a car ticket of the stage ending in Lodi. Damn decisions.

Don't be so cynical Gunkie. There is some irony, however, in having a huge pharmaceutical company as the sponsor.

This stage goes from Nevada city to Lodi. I can't find the exact route but I know they do cross andy rail road tracks. Should be fun, not sure if I will be in a team car or what?

Was thinking about riding up GMR and watching at the little GMR turn where they will pass twice. (Stage 7)
Since there won't be any beer there and I'll see more of it on the tube anyway, I think I'll stay home.

Stage 3 ends at the top of Gibralter Road in Santa Barbara on Tuesday. Maybe they should stop and do the T-crack on the way? Be interesting!

Um… why do y'all suppose Amgen sponsors the Tour of California?
Also: WTF is up with the men getting an 8-stage race and the women getting only 4 stages. I used to care about cycling but the pervasive cheating and misogyny make the sport irredeemable.
I used to care, a lot, but to hell with professional road cycling.

Stage 3 finishing on Gibraltar Road should be the deciding stage. Stage 4 to Laguna Seca might catch a few GC contenders out, but it will probably only be seconds and not minutes. Stage 5 has a lot of climbing and is long, but the climbing isn't all that steep(5-7%) so it shouldn't shake up the GC.
Stage 6 TT in Folsom is 12.6mi which usually means a minute separating the GC contenders. It would be more, but Wiggins says he's not in shape so while he might win the TT he will lose minutes on the climbs. Stage 7 in Santa Rosa has too much flat and downhill riding after the climbs to be decisive.

Last year got to ride in a VIP car to Lodi and they let my 12 year old son in at the last minute. A trip to remember. This year we will watch the start for Lodi . Then head up to watch them go over Carson Pass. Might have to stay up in the mountains to get some climbing or skiing in.

They went by so fast that I didn't even see them. It seems like they averaged approx 25 mph over the full ride though. No badgers were hurt.

I rode around Tahoe today, and the ladies were out in force, prepping for their start tomorrow. Might have to drive down and catch some of the action tomorrow. Anybody going to be at Carson Pass?

They came down the street one down from mine today. The green guy won the stage.
It was crazy and a little depressing how many Highway Patrol and support vehicles there were. I would say a minimum of 250, probably way more.

A few years ago, the bike race came down the coast, north to south. The prevailing winds pushed the riders along, like little colorful sailboats.
I think they call that meteorological doping.

Welp, sorry to all you Sagan fans.
my money always goes on the home team, which means anyone from Caly! Cept Neilson Powless comes from Roseville near wwhere i was born, that makes hima blood!Ha. Frick'in Frenchie's! Anyway, The deck this year for the Race was surely "stacked" by adding the gruesome "Gibraltar Grind"(as we used to call it BITD). It takes an entirely different physiology to pump speed down E. Cabrillo compared to floating up the 14% grade on Gibraltar pass. Sagan and Cavendish were 20 minutes behind the leader, practically last. Yet they were 1 and 2 in Sacto. One trait of the hill climbs is that it spreads eveeryboby out and there isn't the "average" time of the Peloton given to all the riders coming in behind the winner. This seems like a stupid Socialist law, where did it ever come from? Lol.
Wonder what the race would look like if everyone was timed individually

Carson pass was windy as as heck and cold on the 19th. I watched the start in Lodi then drove up. Bill Walton, the basketball player, was riding in one of the many groups that rode the pass before the race came through. It must have been a long grind up that pass almost all up hill from before Jackson.
