This is my nephew, doing a little juggling. Now, before you think "big al," you should know that this guy was pretty well disabled as a kid, with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. In fact, he just had a hip replacement about two months ago. And this summer, he bicycled solo across Europe, to raise awareness about JRA. The summer before, he cycled cross the USA. He must have a tolerance for pain that is off the charts.

Neat iPhone build video. Maybe I missed it, but how much did he spend? Sounds like it took him a few months of off and on work. And he says that it is about as difficult to build as a desktop computer. I've built more than a few and if I have the parts on my workbench, I can turn out a good solid Linux desktop computer in about 45 minutes which includes setting the uProcessor with a heat sink and installing Ubuntu. I'm thinking that the iPhone build is far more intricate.

Munge, you recognize what's happening a lot better than the fools in the video. It was taken in a Vancouver, BC suburb, where people were feeding the sea lion bread from the dock.
The Province news quotes an aquarium mammal trainer; "...the video appears to show the sea lion getting increasingly frustrated as the feeding stops. You saw him kind of initially lunge out of the water and give a little huff. That’s what we would call an aggressive precursor,” she explained. “So he’s letting the people know that he’s starting to get frustrated. And in that situation, the people should have backed off right away.”

Last summer we spent a couple weeks in Vall de Boi, in the Pyrenees, driving up from Barcelona. It's an outstanding granite area, in many ways superior to Little Cottonwood or Leavenworth (two other granite areas I love very much). On the drive up, only about an hour away, we passed by this unbelievable limestone area above a canyon on the river with extensive big walls, 250 to 300 meters high. If it's raining in Vall de Boi, you could easily spend the day there. I'd never heard of this area before, but it turns out to have a history of hard, ground-up, trad routes and it has also become Sharma's new hang out. I suppose he was there when we were in Boi. I don't know if these videos are "youtube gems" but this area is amazing, and Sharma has a bold, adventurous spirit.
