A place where I first stopped to admire Tuolumne Meadows.....
A place where I can come and sit and relax for hours on end......
A place where time slows and I can (in spite of the road) hear myself think......
A place where I've had some of my best interactions with people.......
Everything I need is right there.......
My Favorite place on Earth...........

Stately Pleasure Dome - gateway to adventure and don't get caught out in the rain!
Go early or go have a beer.
The day before this we had made a late arrival at Tenaya Lake, racked up and headed for the base of Stately Pleasure Dome. A foreboding sky immediately exploded with lighting, thunder and pelting hail.
We ran back to the car, threw the gear in the trunk and headed to TPR for a late lunch.

Ah yes, taking an afternoon off from climbing, sitting with a comrade and a six-pack on Tenaya beach as the tourist world skates our periphery and the bounty of nature presents itself with full glory. Yes, what a great area to appreciate.

Home to billions and billions of mosquitoes, too.
Lol!
I kinda forgot about that part. I am sooo glad memory is selective.
I wonder how many DEET oil-slicks were left on Tenaya Lake.

We used to do "The Great White Down Climb" when on SAR. That dome scares me. It's too slabby. Makes me sweat.
What a setting to climb in though!!!!

My first YNP climb was on Stately Pleasure Dome, GWB and South Crack.
I free-soloed the GWB dozens of times.
Back in the 70s I climbed with a cassette tape deck in a fanny pack playing Jimi Hendrix. If you saw this guy free-soloing the GWB with an open beer can or a doobie in one hand, it was probably me.

Never know who you might run into down by the lake.
Toulumne is by far my favorite place to climb and just hang out.
