This is an open invitation to come back to ST. I would love to Tom Kingsbury, Hank, Mojede, Elcapinyourass, and Rockjox come back. The place seemed much more interesting when you were here. Didn't always like what everyone had to say but many time I did. Who would you like to see back?

Every person who got banned was ousted due to a polititard thread. Those things simply breed bad behavior. Keyboard courage. Keyboard conviction.
Leaving one to wonder, why? Why?
Most people I've spoken with who simply dropped out did so because the polititard threads were so toxic and vile that the signal-to-noise became unbearable.
So there's that.

That's the kind of stuff that really isn't needed. Ron, dude, you have your POV and dare I say there are times you contribute positively to this site. It is nice having such a wide range of ideas, opinions, and thoughts but that crap above is what adds to the negativity to the site.
It's okay to just look at the hook sometimes, you don't have to bite that damn thing.
And I don't just mean you but you've provided a perfect example of what I mean.

Life is filled with adventures these days, and since my bottom is no longer confined to an 8-to-5 chair (yipeeee--I'm freeeeeeeee!), actually getting on the computer feels more like a chore than a pleasure.
Nothing that a few awesome threads couldn't cure, of course....:-)

Here is what my friends that left ST said to me.
Elcapinyourass, Philo, Khannon (Eric), and a couple others that I will not mention all quit ST or were banned, for one reason and one reason alone.
And the reason is:
A couple of posters here have been so disruptive and are such trolls that they drive off folks that want to have a civil debate.
Sometimes they post outrageous personal attacks
other times they are posting such disturbing opinions that they need no debate, they need moderation.
A lot of people on ST love these trolls, so any talk about them turns sour quickly.
The trolls are still here, and of course there is no hope for any moderation.
So why should they comeback?
The Politard stuff will not go away if I go away
To say that folks won't post TRs anymore because of it is quite the claim!

It's these two posters undying love for one another that I've been tempted to stop posting. Don't mind either of them alone, but together they can make a sh#t show. In the end, I am the problem for letting it get to me. I try to stick to threads that are mostly positive, but I do get sucked in. My choice again. Sucks that a lot of my favorite posters have left, but there are still plenty of good people and content.

The really vile polititard threads -- as opposed to the merely offensive ones -- can be be rendered uninhabitable with nearly no effort at all. There is a case to be made for doing this, when awful stuff stays parked above-the-fold on the front page, day after week after month, and then you look and discover it's the same small handful of folks keeping it alive, and that this same tiny group of usual suspects -- you know who you are -- are responsible for, like, 70 or 80 percent of thread content.

Well I miss Philo, besides the fact that he's an old friend of mine, he's the perfect bookend on the other side from Ron. Sometimes seeing the extremes on both sides gives you a better perspective of where you exactly reside "in the middle".
