Anyone has personal experience with picking an insurance plan for luggage? With all the climbing gear etc, cost of a lost bag would be a fortune!

Waste of money unless you have receipts for that stuff.

Are you saying insuring the bag is useless unless you have a receipt for every cam, ice screw, rope etc?

Yup.

On the bright side, the airline will give you $9.07 a pound for your lost items.

Big Mike knows the drill! You would be surprised how much you can each get into a carryon. Problem is, the clothes ect. go luggage, so you may want to wear-on what is most important to ya.

The best travel Insurance may be GOOD Karma. Start stocking.

If it's your first time to Fitzroy-Patagonia, you will likely only need approach shoes, aluminium crampons, 1 axe, a modest-sized rack. and lots of books for the weather wait.

Thanks, the psyche level just skyrocketed to the moon! Can't wait to hang out in coffee shops etc.

Whatever you do DO NOT fly Aerolineas Argentinas as yer stuff will most
certainly disappear and you might too. However you go down there fly
LAN within Argentina. If you fly LAN down there I believe they have some
deals if you fly within Argentina with them. They might be a little more
expensive than AA (an apt acronym) but they are a MUCH better airline in
terms of service and flying modern equipment, as opposed to the clapped out
junkers AA flies. But AA does have the hottest flight attendants. The
trouble is all they do is walk around looking marvelous. No service worth
a crap - they didn't even come back around and pick up the trash after lunch
on one flight! Plane looked a homeless encampment when we landed.

nothing will save you if going through Mexico City airport. True about needing receipts.
