Certainly are a lot worse ways to make a living. I have no problem with the climber/model concept. SBC is a decent climber but not worldclass by any means. Stunningly beautiful however. If she can provide a platform for effective advertising via her site then she has worked smartly to provide a valuable service that can pay well.
I really don't see the problem as long as she is honest about her climbing.
Smart girl seems to me. Hope she does well.

If people want to look at a pretty girl climb, who gives a sh#t? She's being promoted by Roxxy, Mad Rock and a slew of other companies targeting the young female demographic. Maybe she's playing it up for the camera, maybe she is just that way naturally. If it inspires someone else to go out and climb, great!
One cool thing about life is we get to choose our heroes and idols. Not into her shtick? Great, scroll past and move along. Any hate directed her way is either sexism(trying to control women and their bodies) or jealousy (that she is 'breaking the rules'). I really can't fathom any other negative response than these two.
Maybe I'm some kind of feminist (lol) but I don't see the big deal over scantily clad girls seemingly having a great time outdoors.

Tami, I am naturally charismatic (in person, not online OBVIOUSLY). I've used that trait to get things in life; dates, free meals, jobs, shwag. I didn't really work on this skill and I see people who are not inclined to the gift of gab struggle heavily in situations I stroll through. Devils advocate - is it much different to use other 'natural' skills to make situations turn in your favor? Does Natalie Duran receive this judgment?
It's a great discussion, hopefully it doesn't devolve into ST meta BS

Lynch is a black man refusing to dance for rich whitey. Another issue all together haha
Per Tamil - interesting, and I agree that as a kid we will sway one way or the other, but what is the worry? If a girl is going to be drawn to pretty things and princesses instead of books and gymnastics, such is her lot in life. I'm sure you did yer damnedest to impart good values, and I think you can be a sexy lady in scant clothing typing in all emotes and still be a wonderful person leading a wonderful life. Like me! Lol

Hey it ain't over til the fat traddie whips!!
I appreciate your perspective as my only experience is as a straight man who grew up with women - four sisters, to be exact, a fairly weak sample size. I just want to understand the line of thinking, which you hit on well.
As per Natalie, she's an acquaintance and a super cool gal, I just used her as an example of someone a bit closer to the center - not as over-the-top 'model,' but damn good looking and I'm sure that adds more to market appeal then others.
Jebus, my response is that I really don't have an opinion on her, just like I don't have much of an opinion on Timmy O'Neil or Andrew bisharat. Again, 'not for me,' but I want then to be able to do their thing without judgement.
All women and men have different aesthetics, I'm still waiting for a sponsored PAWG because the hotties I follow on Instagram don't exactly subscribe to the strength-to-weight ratio climbing requires.
Lol.

Total Scottsdale future-mom-in-training. All about the whitened teeth, bleached-blond hair. If she's not sporting fake boobs inside the next five years, I'll eat my hat. I once sat in the parking lot at a Scottsdale health club, waiting for a buddy to show up, watching a woman putting makeup on for 15 minutes before she went in for her "workout."
I'd chuck her in the bin with the whole Tori Allen show. All about the self-promo. Especially when I saw some claim on her website when she was younger that she was the "youngest to climb xxxxxx route". They had basically NO basis for that statement, but it didn't matter because it's like saying she's "one of the best climbers in the world." All smoke, no fire, just get your "likes" and run for it. Gag me, like, with a spoon!
If anyone's been watching the American Ninja competitions, you get a big dose of just how many no-names are out there calling themselves "professional climbers" too.

It's all about the ability to promote yourself, for people who are into getting famous and 'sponsored.' Sierra was good at it I guess. Honestly, I see hotter girls in my climbing gym all the time.
Tami, I don't think a hot guy with average rock skill would be sponsored by any major climbing brand. Too many good looking crushers out there. Alex Megos, Chris Sharma, Adam O....nevermind.
I mean unless you are creme of the crop of sponsored climbers you are not really making money right? Sponsors give some of these a free jacket or a pair of shoes, so for them it is more about status and attention? People are silly creatures.

Who told you dirtbag are poor? Lol most of the dirt bags I know have a good amount of $. Either saved up, trusts or education to pick up where they left off once they get back to work. If you have no money you can't buy all that shiny gear, you can't travel, you will have to go to work and support your family.

Maybe.. When I was a dirtbag I lived in various broken down cars that rarely ran. or friends houses till they got tired of me. Piled up tickets and warrents for lack registration and insurance. Hitched or bummed rides. Quit crappy jobs to go on trips. Every penny I scraped up went to gear on pro list and mac and cheese. I managed to get some free gear too. Fun times for a while.
I hear about the trust funders but not sure that many exist... except in boulder.
I respect what she is doing way more than most trust funders. A trust funder who could climb all the time better climb all the time and do badass sh#t. I used to dream what could be done if I had the money and time.
