In true American form I have copied the idea of someone's (Little Mike's) idea and improved it by using bigger letters and yelling, thus ensuring my somewhat live TR will be better. If I fail to out do the number of replies to the original Going Back to Cali! (note the use of only three capital letters) I will ensure victory and superiority by bumping my thread until the necessary posts are met. This is full on Canada vs America, so don't let me down my comrades.

Theoretically leaving Fresno Saturday at 6:00am, but the Fog God's have been angry as of late.

Trip plans so far....
1. Get in the Canadian Customs line upon entering Vancouver International, then tell them, "But I'm an American" when they tell me I must get in the long line.

2. Snowboard for 4 days and insult as many skiers as possible.

3. Ski for 1 day and yell curse words at those dumbass snowboarders.

4. Squamish for climbing a couple of days, weather and ride depending.

5. Watch as much Curling as possible and ask Mindy why can't she sweep like that?

6. Mongolian Grill.

7. Ride with the locals and act like I've shredded all their secret spots before.

8. Post daily all day to this thread cause I'll probably be pretty bored up there.

9. Ask everyone I meet if they know Ryan D.

10. When Squamish shuts me down use my shoulder as an excuse or Ryan's shitty chalk.

Anita is right, BCers also give Canadians that horrible, friendly, laid back image the rest of the world judges us upon. Go to Quebec where they are trying to quit if u want some real culture.

At least Whistler has the lowest number of BCers per capita of any town in BC.

Wet snow good enough? Sunday looks pineapple-y...

Pray to Ullr for freezing levels bud!

This Ridiculously Resilient Ridge that's killing you guys is killing us too. It means more warm air which the Sierra Nevada's high majestic peaks can transform into snow, where as our measly 7000 foot resorts don't stand a chance of doing so.

Normally when Cali gets the warm air we get nice cold storms. Fvck off R³ already. I'm so sick of you.

You really believe all that weather mumbo jumbo Mikey?

The only piece of weather info I need for the mountain right now is this, and it's more a marketing observation than actual information but it's quite telling.

Since when do ppl care about the cumulative snowfall More than the current base??

The base used to be in the large box previous seasons.

Now they are trying to trick ppl by making the cumulative the largest number that catches your eye first. Sneaky f*#ks.

Big Mike

Lol. Do i believe the weather forecast? Lol No. Just an indicator of what's to come my friend. I hope the jet stays north and brings snow, but the models are usually pretty accurate 1-2 days out. After that it's a crap shoot.

Marketing is everything for sure. They've always been sneaky but conditions are forcing them to get even sneakier.... Notice it says it's gonna snow on sunday but the fl is at 2000m... So it's gonna rain at both catskinner weather plot and pig alley.... But they predicted it in cm instead of mm.. Lol

I notice you evaded my question so i take it the answer is no? ;)

Yesterday morning set my alarm pretty early because I was supposed to meet Justin at 8:15.

I checked the overnight totals on the web, and it said 13 new, so i sent Justin a message:

13 new! Get your a$$ in gear. Be at the lifts by 7:55! ;)

When i got to the chair, the line was pretty thin. Justin and i ended up in pole position.

As we waited i looked up at the mountain and realized that we certainly hadn't had any precip that night.

I checked the numbers again, 0cm was the answer. They didn't update the numbers??

Normally overnight totals get done at 5:30am. But yesterday they didn't update till like 7:20. Fvckers... Lol

Oh well, it got us there early for some nice cruiser laps.
We had first chair on Wizard, and the mountain was freshly corded and empty when we got up there.

I quickly proceeded to try and lose Justin, but he stayed on my tail consistently as we raced around the mountain.

Justin waiting for Crystal Chair to open.

We got a couple nice runs on Ridge Runner before the pylons became an issue, and we decided to go check out Whistler.

Justin on Peak to Peak.

On Whistler we went to do my favourite run Dave Murray Downhill, but when we arrived, it wasn't groomed, so we ducked through the woods, back to the groomer.

The trees has given Justin glimpses of pow turns, so he
wanted more. I puzzled myself at which line would be worth the effort to get to.

We decided on vd's and headed up Peak chair. Whistler bowl was an icy mogul filled mess. I could hear Justin laughing as we scraped our way through that mess.

The top of vd's was super rad. Best snow i'd ridden lately. It had filled in nicely and Justin proclaimed it well worth the effort.

Until we got here...

Super death ice low tide tree chute sequence.

I climbed down tree branches to get down this thing, but Justin went for style points.. ;)

We showed up early at Black's for our planned lunch and enjoyed a well earned beer while we waited for Mindy and his parents. After they bought me a nice meal, everyone was pooped so they headed back to the room and i headed home.

Great day out buddy. Thanks!

Hope
Total rainfall amounts of more than 75 mm are likely over a two day period with greater amounts of 150 mm or more for west and Inland Vancouver Island. In the Whistler area the precipitation will likely fall as wet snow early Thursday before switching over to rain. Significant additional rainfall is likely for the South Coast on Saturday.

Bummer Tami. Hopefully some warm weather will make him feel better.

What's up with this weather? Well R³ has been the dominant force pushing all these Californian storms north.

Looks like that will stop on Sunday.

California Weather Blog
January 2015 was an extraordinarily dry month across most of California. Across the northern 2/3 of the state, there was almost no precipitation to speak of–and in the Bay Area, no measurable rainfall whatsoever occurred at most observation sites. Numerous locations set new records for the lowest January precipitation ever recorded, and quite a few of those records are truly “all time” records–it is strictly impossible to ever receive less than 0.00 inches of precipitation. San Francisco’s precipitation record, in particular, goes back to the Gold Rush era (1850), and January 2015’s grand total of 0.00 inches broke the previous record of 0.06 inches–which was set just a year ago (2014) at the height of the Ridiculously Resilient Ridge. This is especially remarkable given that January is the climatological peak of the rainy season in the Bay Area. Further, the present mid-winter dry spell (which is almost certain to end later this week) will go down in the record books as one of the three longest in San Francisco history.

The culprit: a persistent, strong region of high pressure anchored over the northeastern Pacific/West Coast of North America has deflected Pacific storm systems to the north of California–just like last year. In fact, the similarity of the large-scale atmospheric wave pattern between January 2014 and January 2015 is extraordinary. While the longevity of the current dry spell still isn’t quite what it was last year–thanks to our December wet spell–the Warm West/Cool East atmospheric pattern that has been quite common in recent winters appears to once again be repeating itself this year.
http://www.weatherwest.com/archives/2905

Monday looks like a more typical winter pattern.

Edit: you're sick too!... Duh hope you feel better Tami. Yes let's all pray that R³ dies in the near future.

Cross post from shred thread.

ThisJustIn and I got to shred some hot pow together Thursday morning.

I had a little snow on the truck.

Website said 13cm's. It kept getting fatter all morning though.

Justin after our second sweet lap.

After a couple more laps We hiked up to the top of crystal chair.

It was total elephant snot up there. We dropped in on a sweet untracked groomer, and I dropped my nose in for the first turn and instantly felt like i was going over the bars. The rest of the run was a sticky nose wheelie. Very challenging and not extremely pleasant.. Lol

Justin got a little wet...

That evening Sandra and I went to visit Justin and Mindy at the club for a soak in tub.
